Around 7 years ago I went to one of these monistaries and was wearing shorts. I was given a pair of pants like nurses wear and was told to put them over my shorts. I did so but they did not fit very well and I eventually took them off and continued my visit without anyone challenging me. These monistaries are definitely worth the effort. Quite amazing places.

☁ I went this past February, and this was my favorite part of our trip! We booked with a tour bus and got there around 1 pm. The tour had a lunch stop in Kalabaka but the moussaka I had was not very good unfortunately. I think your way of renting a car is the way to go to have more agency on where and when you visit. Do you have / need an international driver's license?

Yes, you need to have an international driver's license. Hope you get to try some good moussaka next time!
My Greek ears are hurting from the mispronounciation of Meteora....

Is it more "meh-tuh-aw-ruh"? 🙉

Oia is pronounced “ee ah”, it’s tough to show it with Latin characters, but η, οί, ει, ύ, ί, are all pronounced as the English “ee” sound (as in teen)… Meteora is Me (as in “metallic”) te (and in Texas) oh rah, and the accent in the Te not in the O… So it’s “MeTEora”. Not “mee tee Ow ra” as it was mispronounced in the video… I do hope when visitors actually visit places in Greece simply ask locals how they pronounce their actual towns and areas, instead of mispronouncing them in English…

I don't think it's intentional. Hard to parse unless it's super obvious (i.e., Oia). Also, Linkin Park had an album named after it and pronounced it the other way: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nKx1tLObqJfWkrg.htmlsi=lt3muwceJ66J5eO6&t=20 www.reddit.com/r/LinkinPark/comments/10yhcw9/how_do_you_pronounce_it/ That's probably the baseline research people will go off of before visiting.
