The Most Hated Hearthstone Cards

No doubt, for me it was Mysterious Challenger. I absolutely hate this card.
@turntsnaco824
2 жыл бұрын
I actually happened to be playing a Kel'Thuzad Reincarnate combo Shaman with heavy control when Secret Paladin running rampant, I was actually really happy to match up against it because it was a pretty straightforward fight almost always in my favor. Pretty much just waited till they played Challenger, Lightning Stormed the board which would kill almost everything except the Challenger and trigger the secrets, then Hex whatever the biggest remaining threat was - usually Challenger himself or something that had Divine Shield like Minibot. All you had to do was do that twice, and the Pally deck just didn't have any more steam. There were actually some really good metas for that deck, it did pretty well against Face Hunter at the time too - my mulligan mantra was "if I don't draw my heals and board clears, I lose."
@chrisdaley2852
2 жыл бұрын
@@turntsnaco824 I could see that. One Hex was definitely for Tirion against that deck because back in those days you could just pick which threats to line up your removal against like that. Other Hex was probably for a Challenger or Dr Boom and you'd probably play one BGH for another. That deck probably hated to verse Midrange Druid though which was another really powerful deck in that meta. If you didn't clear their board every turn, they could just about 30 you. And Ancient of Lore made it hard to beat them in attrition.

Most people gonna disagree with me on this, but back when I first started playing Hearthstone, the one card I really hate was Carnivorous Cube, played especially in Cubelock decks. The mana cheat to confront was insane back then, at least for me

it was definitely fun to play, but so obnoxious to play against -- especially when you combine the effect with guldan hero card
@Alexbfd94

And that, in my opinion, is what makes HS not fun. There's so much mana cheating nowadays, and combined with the insane card draw, most decks are just unfun and uninteractive to play against. And some cards can even be reduced to cost 0!

For me patches is 100% my most hated card. Patches saw play in decks that had only two other pirates?! And if he was in the opening hand it was gg !
5 minutes animation time ? Those are rookie numbers. It's hard to emphasize how truly broken Shudderwock was at release. Making the animation loop so long the turn of your opponent got skipped and you could start another one was a viable strategy at the time.

One card people often forgot about but it was a card often hate to love and love to hate is vicious fledgling especially in arena. So much so it is banned in arena because it is always so tilting for the other player. People call it ‘Flappy Bird’ named after that famous infuriating game.

Barnes was a big pain for me.Before his nerf, remember big priest dominance? Every 2nd deck was resurrect priest, and Barnes was always dropped turn 3-4 for the opponent.

Now they do it even earlier with shadow essence. Idk what you mean was, it's literaly the only S tier deck in wild alongside Pirate Rogue atm.
Shudderwock #1. Still to this day, just the most unfun card ever. Convincing infiltrator is definitely on my top 5.
@nikhilchhagan7371
Жыл бұрын
Sad part is that it’s a theoretically super cool and fun card but cards like Grumble and Snowfall Guardian make it miserable
@bmo14lax
Жыл бұрын
@@nikhilchhagan7371 for sure, getting multiple chains is when it gets absurd too.
In my opinion, Convincing Infiltrator itself wasn't oppressive as there were methods to get around it or swarm the board and roll the dice by killing it. WHAT DID make it oppressive was when Grave Runes was played on it which would summon two more copies upon killing the original. THAT WAS ABSURD as you could play Infiltrator, grave rune, then possibly faceless manipulator next turn to get 2 Infiltrators that when killed will summon 4 more. When you add in Khartut Defender and Obsidian Statue then Mass-Res later, you effectively can't interact with the enemy hero anymore. AND on top of all that if your priest opponent was also running the Uldum Priest Quest, you were royally fucked as it would heal minions and buff them for 2 mana. You can barely produce minions strong enough to kill the enemy minions, you can't match the pace at which the enemy minions spawn and even if you manage to kill them, your board gets severely punished for it and any minions you managed to kill will just get revived 1-3 turns later. The endless heals recover any and all damage and all your minions dont last a single turn cycle on board. Even if you manage to hold out against the deathrattle and stay alive you would likely end up exhausting all of your resources throughout the game and would lose by attrition. It's for this reason why DH, Mage, and Hunter, especially the highlander variants with Zephyrs, became so dominant as well because they were the only classes who could combat this deathrattle chain. --Mage would play polymorph and Amazing Reno to completely remove the in-play minions from the game, and thus the minion pool (in theory). --DH had means of direct face damage, silencing enemies, and bypassing taunt to help beat the strong minions, plus DH at this time was dummie strong. -- Hunter had means of direct face damage and instant minion removal like Corrosive Breath, Deadly Shot, Primordial Explorer, and Rotnest Drake. As long as you didn't lose too much board control you were fine. Just my opinion.
I'm surprised "hey loser, wasn't me" didn't make the list.

I like how you dont say the Real Name but everyone knows which card you meam
My hatred for iceblock knows no end. Destroyed so many nice combos for me.. water of secrets became one of my favorite cards for much of hearthstone.
I think Bogspine knuckles also deserve a spot on the list (or evolve). The amount of salt that archetype created XD I would also say ice block or frost nova and I think the demon seed needs and mr smite are at least honorable mentions. Barnes is definitely also a worthy member of the Hall of hate. You could alternately go for "most hated decks" Since it's largely the archetypes that pissed people off
@nickyminaj709

Zephyrs was hated because it felt like a "play this to win the game" card that you couldn't really play around. I kinda wish the card gave the "perfect card" from the class that the player was playing, just so it was less consistent
Kinda surprised not to see any of the questlines here, but all of these cards earned their spot here for sure
Rogue Quest (the one that made all minions 5/5s) and Ice Block could grate teeth.
hey rarran! great video. i do think that it’s a bit weird that you use past tense for everything though, because nearly all of these cards still see play in metadecks
I saw this and just instantly thought of shudderwock. That card was so annoying if a shaman played a battlecry minion I instantly concede
Your content is top tier, I've been binge watching your videos a lot lately. I don't know when you got into the game, but in the earlier stage of the game the thing I hated by far the most (even more than jade idol!) was ice block. It made it impossible to win a game for 2 whole turns... And the only tech card available for secret removal was Kezan Mystic (and Flare in hunter)
I stopped playing standard and switched to BGs around quest line time. It would drive me crazy to play against the same quest mage deck drawing infinite burn spells for 0 mana. Reminds me of Luna’s Pocket Galaxy which was also massively toxic with the giants
Thanks for the video but this time I have mixed feelings about the choices you made. Mill rouge w coldlight oracle Or any king toggwagle decks or pre-nerf illucia? The feel bad cards are missing but you have put in a lot of them.
I never had more fun as with discard(opponent)warlock. 3-6 demon+treachery+defile combo. It was not so strong and unstable but gives so much pleasure when things work out for you.
Patches almost had me quit the game. Then that priest revive with the taunt minion actually made me quit

Yep. God I hated that damned Priest.
Loving your content dude! Keep it up the good work!
I’m loving this new style of content from you man!
you forgot to add in crystal core the rogue quest.
Currently my most hatted card Solar Eclipse. I’m (mostly) fine with it being small spells but Arbor Up, Survival of the Fittest (after using Lightning Bloom), *Cenarion Ward,* C’thun the Shattered spells, some of them can be incredibly frustrating to fight.
For me in standard right now it’s nellie. The variance in that card is insane, and it’s not just with mr smite - you have a 48.8% chance to see any given pirate when you play Nellie, which means you get a 1 mana smite alongside a few other pirates around 50% of the time. It feels terrible to go against because the highroll potential is absurd
Kingsbane back in the days with the unnerfed support cards like leeching poison was one of my most hated cards of all time. And maybe I'm the only one with that, but rexxar was sooo often so frustrating to play against. Playing with it was fun but the time were cards like Vicious Scalehide were released i lost so many games because of rush lifesteal or rush poison bullshit

Back when I played exodia mage, my most hated card was Spellbreaker. 4 mana 4/3 Battlecry: Silence a minion. Whether it was my well timed doomsayer on their weak board or on their own giant frozen minion, it just made me want to uninstall

i loved trying to make Shudderwock without grumble. I think releasing him in the same rotation as grumble was a mistake, as a big finisher that couldn't didnt try to go infinite was fun! I would try to use him to adapt all my murlocs and get another megafin fill
I was playing Weasel Priest against a freeze Shudderwock (without Lifedrinker) that lasted what seemed like an hour and I laughed so long saying "I'm surrendering" the whole way
This video was a lot of fun, keep up the fantastic work
Hey Rarran, wanted to see where the channel is at since I left after you started playing nerfs. I love this new content! I’m back baby!
Idk about the card I hated the most but the deck that I miss the most is Oil Rogue - it just felt so exciting to play. It captured for me exactly how I felt the rogue class should feel like: walking on knife’s edge. You could have huge comebacks but only if you evaluated properly and set up in advance.
Celestial alignment, naval mine, and united in SW hunter and warrior quests
Right now there are 3 cards that absolutely enrage me in hearthstone (im playing wild) 1. Wildheart Guff. Possibility of having 20 mana is absolutely broken. You can do so much in one turn, that it is ridiculous. Once i had a situation while playing with a guy with this hero card and he casted a Linecracker, casted two BEEEES!! and targeted him and he had like 1000 attack, than he casted a solar eclipse and targeted him with earthen scales and the hero ended up with over 2000 shield. 2. Reno Jackson: The fact that everyone has him for free is broken. I have lost so many games because of unexpected play of Reno from the opponent. Its a fact that it is an old card and has been used a lot of times in the game history, but as meta has gone foward most of the people forgot about him, and now he comes back with as irritating effect as before also with additional plus that he is available for everyone. 3. Zephrys the Great- With arrival of this card my respect to blizzard had collapsed. You can have a table full of minions or have low hp, but be in a safe attacking position, but your opponent can just snap his fingers and clear your table or kill you with perfect card for that. Also in a lot of games after your opponent casts him you are already on a lost position. Its just incomprehensible and i absolutely hate this card. I wonder what all of you think about these
As someone who loved Hearthstone for a long long time. But quit years ago because Blizzard is just Greed incarnate. I love your historian style content as well as the documentaries.
I loved tickatus, it made control competitive agaist combo. People just tend to overvalue losing cards from your deck. Most hated card for me is definitely raid boss onyxia. I don't mind the card in constructed, but post rotation when arena was filled with dragon discover cards was the only time I didn't enjoy playing arena because raid boss would just show up way to often and single handedly win the game.
I quit HS shortly after the Demon Hunter class was introduced. Love how most of you vids talking about broken, bad designed, etc cards are at the peak of my HS days. I always wondered what made me quit, and I feel like I have my answer and refused to accept it. xD
Surely the infamous 4 mana 7/7 gets a spot on the list tho. That card got so hated it became a meme that outlasted the cards existence by several years
What about a certain 1/1 pirate that was in charge now?
Shudderwock is still everywhere in wild to this day, and the otk can still take several minutes to play out the animations. Also I play libram paladin in wild, and there’s something very demoralizing about playing against shudderwock and lotheb combos, as it can make libram of wisdom go from 0 mana to over 60 mana.
I remember when spreading plague was announced, people thought it would suck. "Unleash the hounds for 2 extra mana, w taunt and health instead of charge, and none of the beast synergy? This card is going to see no play!"
You can see from this video that Rarran was introduced to Hearthstone at a later stage. No offense but Undertaker, Patches, Tunnel Trogg, Prince Keleseth were all hated at the time and we played vs these busted cards for months at a time. But I really enjoy your memory lane trips, great content!
My most hated card is probably the Rogue quest from Ungoro. The deck was uninteractive and dominant in the metagame to the point where the card had to be nerfed twice. Also, people often forget that Jade Druid was a miracle deck before Knights of the Frozen Throne. While inevitably was its strong suit, druid, at the time, had limited ways to deal with aggro decks like pirate warrior and murloc paladin. However, printing Ultimate Infestation gave druid consistent card draw (no need to run cheap spells and auctioneer) and Spreading Plague (insane tool vs aggro,) and all of a sudden you have an extremely dominant anti-control deck with the best stalling tools in the game. Yeah Jade Idol gets the flak because the community loves control decks but it's inclusion was fine for the game; it forced control to play beatdown because time was not on its side. Personally I'd rather have good aggro decks and anti-control than KoFT warrior mirror matches going to turn 50 draws.
3:05 I'm confused why is the best minion appearing when he's talking about bad minions?
it's tough but my favourite card probably is fal'dorei strider because I love both its design and its effect
I think a problematic philosophy Hearthstone takes (and probably most card games in general) is they can make cards that feel fun to play and win but also feel awful to lose against. Feeling big brain for doing a big Demon Hunter combo to one shot your opponent, the awesome and dominating power it is to fill a board and kill your opponent turn 4/5 as token druid, the pay off of biding your time for Shutterwalk, the oppressive power of constantly having a big minion as Libriam Pally, the rush one can get knowing they countered an opponents deck by milling a key card with Tickatus. Playing those decks can feel fun but when your on the receiving end it feels awful or like a waste of time especially if your playing for fun and/or not using a meta deck.
Mysterious Stranger and Entomb are my most hated.
i remember in classic hearthstone you could never drob below 18 health against a rogue as he leroy jenkins + 2x shadowstepped you. for those who dont know he costed 4 mana back then.
For me its either demon seed/flesh giant, Cube or Baku, which i really dont get why its not in here
No mention of ice block? I used to insta-concede against mages, just because I didn't wanna play against freeze.
Ice block. It’s to powerfull, incredibly frustrating and you almost can’t interact with it. It’s just the opponent playing alone and you watching him.
really shocked that mysterious challenger wasn't on this list
My least favorite card ever is Ice Block because the only ways to deal with the card is to be a hunter playing flare or play a suboptimal tech card like Kezan Mystic or SI7: Infiltrator. On the other hand, my favorite card in Hearthstone history is Deathstalker Rexxar because while not the strongest Death Knight card from KFT after adjustments, just building a beast is fun and was great flavor for the expansion.
@ArgumentumAdHominem
2 жыл бұрын
I played mage a lot, especially in wild. While ice block is a very strong card, I feel it was necessary means to even have a chance to win. Most of the time people would just proc the block and kill me next turn :D However, mill rogue with ice block, or whatever that secret was called, that was something else :D
Shudderwock voice line plays and i am lying on the ground crying in ptsd all over
Enchanters flow is interesting from a game design perspective. It started at 2 because they probably thought it was a worse wild growth. it ramps you 1 extra mana but for spells only. HERES THE THING THOUGH. 1 cost spells going to 0 breaks the action economy and mage has a ton of premium low-cost spells right now to work with. 1 mana spells have always been strong 0 mana spells are even stronger. Once a decent win condition was offered enchanters' potential was fully seen. My most hated card is probably Secret Passage. Rouge can piss off with its 1 mana draw 4 bullshit enabler. it's so tilting to see my opponent just dump resources and end up with a full hand ready to combo off the next turn.
Not suprised to see my boy shudderwock on there
I was really hoping this was gonna be a 8 minute video on Shadowreaper Anduin
My fav card is still gold Deathstalker Rexxar! Just love crafting those fun golden Zombeasts!!
A larger and larger man is one of my favorite memes from hearthstone from when I played
Surprised that you didnt mention Pen Flinger or Prince Keleseth, or Allignment Best card? Goldshire footman
You missed Patches, Leeroy Jenkins, The Demon Seed, Raid the Docks, etc.
I"m shocked that force of nature didn't show up here, 14 hp still scares me to this day.
As someone who mained deathrattle priest I don’t know what you could possibly have against convincing infiltrator
When they nerfed miracle rogue, and let druid have a 24 damage combo with force of nature i was always pissed at seeing malfurion face in games. People kept coin to ramo hard a drop the combo once they reached 10 mana. It was awful after they stopped the "unfair, dropped out the hand combo rogue"
Three words that never failed to make me break my keyboard. “I’M IN CHARGE!”
Oh it's Genn and Baku. As soon as we saw that animation we knew how the entire game was playing out
Surprised to not see Pen Flinger on here.
Zephrys doesnt make me angry, I actually get pretty surprised when it works even for my opponent
You can also make "Best of Amaz,Toast etc Moments video' pretty sure people will love them.
I agree with incanters flow, in spell mage it was disgusting to play against. Then they made it 4 mana and you never saw it again.
I love how youtube auto subtitles changed incanter's flow to cancer flow
several not mentioned: Illidari inquisitor, trampling Rhino, Mr. Smite, battleground battlemaster.
It’s not always about being too good. It’s also about having too much immediate influence over the gameplay, being too automated (like the deck just plays itself), and for making it so I can’t play lots of my own fun ideas because they aren’t one of the very few things that answer your stupid thing.
I remember the good ole days where one of my most hated cards was shadow word death
I mean you forgot raza and shadowreaper anduin,which led to the hunter questline. Favourite card : Bloodreaver Gul'dan
I'm surprised Unleash the Hounds didn't make this list. God I hated that card so much back in the day. The classic Buzzard-Timber Wolf-Unleash combo almost made me throw my computer into a wall.
Leeroy Jenkins is my favorite card lol. And I love to play it as much as how I hate getting OTK'd with it
Forgot ice block, ultimate infestation, mysterious challenger, grim patron, yogg saron, call of the wild
@carlacaribe
2 жыл бұрын
I swear I despise the fact the two yoggs are good cards, I love yoggs as a card concept but a rng based card should never be something playable, even nowadays there are druids that don't do anything the whole game, play the fucking yogg, pray rnjesus and win the game by just playing a card that does everything by itself
I found this channel after 3 years of not playing HS and you made me want to install it again. But thanks to this video my ptsd kicked in and NO I DONT WANT TO PLAY THAT GAME EVER AGAIN
Zephyrs was always a 100% win condition if your enemy had around 6 health (Fireball). It was a really fun card if it wasn't the win condition though.
I'm a little late to this video and fell of standard around the time demon hunter came in and of HS completely when Mercenaries started and was such an annoying grind that it kind of made me realize that that's what all of HS had become for me. That being said, I never had an issue with board clears like Brawl or Psychic Scream. If you were playing against control warrior and you weren't playing around the possibility of brawl, that's on you. Sure, the RNG of it can be annoying, but that's hearthstone. PS was a little more annoying, but I think that was more of a factor of there being a lot of really annoying priest decks during it's run with it being used as a delay tool rather than a control tool while priest was busy playing solitaire and any time you play against a solitaire deck, it's not fun.
What about the mage quest from ungoro
Missed undertaker which snowballed games so bad until it was nerfed, ice block caused issues when aggro mage was around, Reno Jackson turned every match up with aggro into - draw Reno by turn 6 = win. Which was about 50% shot. Prince keleseth was frustrating because it snowballed games. Drawing him turn 2 massively slanted the game in your favour Mysterious challenger frustrated people. But after 2 months of meta good players dealt with it.
I think deathstalker rexxar was more annoying than plague, u played aggro/midrange ran out of steam boom rexxar u are infinite value control with highroll potential
Patches was the most hated card for a long time before they nerf it ! Keleseth rogue was op quest rogue too every single aggro or tempo deck was running it lol
I hated mass ressurection...simply because, that's what made infiltrator annoying, then they added bigger taunts like Scrapyard Collosus and Mosh'ogg enforcer. Then suddenly they have a wall you cannot kill...
Why would zeph have given shadow flame there? Lol
What made me stop playing for a long time was literally every good card Rogue got, I hated every game that I was up against with Rogue and let me tell you, I always faced rogue.
Your feelings toward Questline Mage are how I feel about Questline Hunter right now
Love your videos! BUT HOW COULD YOU FORGET MINDRENDER ILLUCIA IN THIS LIST?!?!?!
Goldshire Footman - takes away my turn one charging boar.
Are we not mentionning Undertaker? The card that led to the design of spreading plague to counter aggro? Probably the most frustrating card to go against. Also, nowadays we can probably add Theotar and Patchwerk
Incanter's flow meta is the last time I played HS.
as an arena player nothing feels worse than that fucking 3 mana paladin spell that sets ur minion to 1/1 and buffs a minion in your hand based on the stats lost
