The Most Disrespected NBA MVP Candidate in League History
He is the son of a Hall of Famer. He finished seventh in last season's MVP ladder. He has changed the course of one of the most losing franchises in league history. Yet, nobody talks about Domantas Sabonis.
The Kings center is currently averaging 19.9 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. Do you know who was the last and only player to average those numbers for a season? Wilt Chamberlain!!! In 1968!!! His performance continues to be impressive, and he is elevating the Kings straight to Playoff positions in one of the best Western Conferences in history. Yet... guess what? Yeah, nobody talks about Domantas Sabonis.
How is this possible? How is it possible that a player who 10 years ago was in the 3rd tier of Spanish professional basketball has reached the elite and nobody takes him seriously? We are talking about a player who has starred in stories of overcoming doubters throughout his ENTIRE career. Well, to this question, and many others... we will try to find an answer. So… let’s talk about it…
In today’s video, we discuss how Domantas Sabonis is the Most Disrepected NBA MVP Candidate in League History. Jokic, giannis, sga and tatum have great company in their respective teams; sabonis only has fox, because keegan murray is a sophomore and the rest is average and he still have the kings to a respectable 7th seed. Without sabonis the kings are not competing in the playoffs at all, that's a MVP to me.

    @@suu.ny_ DFox is an outright star, so he's not doing it alone, but again, if we're taking about a 7th seed having the mvp, I need to see the strongest stats out of everyone, and that's just not the case. I'm not saying he isn't a beast, but I don't even know if I can tip it to Luka, who has the strongest numbers, because they aren't in the top four seeds. It comes down to making your team winners. That's why jokic is still at the top. But after that, or right next to that, it's Luka if they can at least stay at 5th

    Kings fan here. Sabonis was playing with a broken hand since December/January of that year season I think? I forget when exactly but he chose not to get surgery cause the Kings were finally playing well. You could tell it took a toll in the playoffs. He was missing so many shots he usually makes. Still, we don't know if the Kings would even be in the playoffs had he taken the time off to recover. Dude is so unselfish. Sadly, the lack of national coverage on the Kings meant no one outside of Sacramento would ever really know much about his injury.

    Kings were 2:0 in a series. But warriors is more experienced team and adjusted their game. After that scuffle with Green I had a bad feeling it will go south. Warriors took out Red velvet and physically bullied Sabonis. Remember that elbow jump ball? I think it was an order to foul him and put constant physical pressure, especially on a home court where whistle often was silent… Mentally Kings were not ready. Will see how it goes this year.

    Domas is underrated but I wouldn't say he is a disrespected MVP candidate. That would be Luka. Dude is on a historic run, the likes of Westbrook and harden, is average nearly a 30+ point triple double and is BELOW Tatum and sga in the ranking, who are just on better built teams. That seems criminal to me.

  • @pinobluevogel6458

    @pinobluevogel6458

    You are exactly on point. Luka should have been an MVP earlier, but most definitely this year, with him being also the scoring champion. With the 9 run winstreak they are on right now, maybe he earns some more respect as that was the only thing ever the haters could hold over him, that his team wasn't winning enough. Still, I would take Luka over any player in the playoffs, especially if you have Kyrie as a second, probably the most creative and most clutch guard in the league.

  • @andreisevostianov9525

    @@andreisevostianov9525 SGA should not be a contender i feel. He is great but he is only there because his team is playing good. He has a great core around him. Comparing him to LUKA? the dude took dwight powell, and spenser dimwiddie to a conference finals 2 years ago. SGA doesn't have his efficiency and is not close to his numbers. LUKA (as I said) is a nearly a triple double. If I remember correctly he is averaging 34, 9 and 9. SGA is 30, 5 and 6. On A team that is remarkably doing good now. SGA has Tatum numbers. Here lies a fundamental problem that the NBA has. Do you give MVP to the best player on the best team or to the best player over all. If it is best player overall? then LUKA easily wins. If it is best player on best team? Tatum, Jokic and SGA are higher.

Outside the USA, there's completely different approach to the game from childhood. You don't need a three letter combination to be self-confident and to know who you are and what are you capable of. MVP title ain't any proof at all that you are the best, there' s allways gonna be somebody who' s better, faster or even more beautiful than yourself. He is not an MVP candidate. Come on now. Fine player, but the wide majority of his assists are dribble handoff's with super quick great shooting guards. What is great at is setting those screens after the DHO that makes them shoot often after he passes. Also, his offensive game is very limited and is exposed in the playoffs. Good player. Not a great player.
