There are no true JIS B 4633 screwdrivers anymore. Vessel makes their screwdrivers to ISO 8764-1 (DIN 5620) which is intended for ISO 4757 screws but is backwards compatible with both JIS B 1012 as well as ANSI Type I (Philips).

Love my vessel ball driver, I've been using an adapter with it for bits as well! I need to look into getting the ratcheting bit adapter, that's a great idea for making things easier!

Leatherman rarely sells the ratchet driver anymore. They just sold some again a few weeks ago. But it will likely be another year before you can expect them to stock them again. And when they do stock them, they sell out almost immediately. Ive tried to find an alternative, but nothing else like it exists unfortunately.

The Pozidriv bit would make assembling Ikea furniture a bit more fun! Ikea uses all Pozidriv bits, and as sad as it is to say I own enough Ikea items that I actually bought a 10 pack of Wiha pozidriv 2 bits just for the ocassion lol. I see the Vessel offer JIS screwdrivers as well, that'd be really great for people with Japanese cars or bikes, they tend to use those bits. Just like Pozidriv they look like a Phillips, but a JIS has a little dot just to the side of the + plus for the slot. I've added this driver to my wishlist... sadly 2024 has been pretty tight for me financially, but if when the time comes I can see myself joyfully getting ahold of one of these drivers!

Thanks for the JIS info! I think there are better options than this screwdriver. Vessel makes a ratchet version of this that looks great!

The pozidriv screwdriver is very useful not only for IKEA furniture. You need one to install or to adjust European hinges like :Blum and Hettich. Without the pozi it's very hard to install or adjust such hinges. Almost all new kitchen and bath cabinets come with some type of euro hinges. Also some cabinet drawer slides, use the same pozi bit.

I have this screwdriver and love it. The main PH2/Flat head blade has a bit of play due to its design, but I was able to fix it by wrapping the flat head end with plumbers tape (I use the PH2 the most). Thank you for the video!

2:00 - I was hoping so badly you said they equipped TWO Phillips size 2 bits. A flathead and Phillips is pretty solid, in fact I used a flathead and Phillips bit tonight to replace my outdoor socket. The new socket came with Phillips and slotted screws, a two in one, but the old socket I was replacing was strictly flathead.

Join some facebook multitool groups or reddit groups - especially the leatherman groups. Besides the somewhat toxic community some of them have, often there are great people who post about sales. Recently in one of them, someone pointed out that the Ratchet driver was back in stock. and before I could buy a backup one, they were already out of stock again. And since then, people have been posting about their new Ratchet Drivers coming in the mail. So HOPEFULLY, leatherman realizes people want this, and start making them more often again. But I completely understand and agree with the saltiness! haha

They are JIS bits not Philips but they fit Philips perfectly. It is the other way around that is the problem, never use a Philips screwdriver on a Japanese car or bike. Pozi drive are rest of the world spec, you don't often see them in America which is a shame. It is superior to Philips.

So I've compared the bits that come on this screwdriver with my other bits. And I can't see any difference whatsoever. However, I found a product link on the Vessel website that states this product is a JIS bit so there is not debate. But I would agree on you that Pozi Drive are superior. However, as a Canadian, I can't help but say that from what I've seen, A Robertson (or square head) are better than pozi drive! haha

@@happylittletools As a Kreg user, I can confirm that Robertson's are superior! It is almost impossible to the untrained eye to spot the difference between Philips and JIS. Rather than me making a hash of the explanation, the best thing to do is go online and see and exploded picture of the two.

There needs to be more robertson love in the world! Haha And I've looked at those photos! Thanks for the suggestion.

@@happylittletools It's worth knowing, the photos make it so much clearer. All those years they told us screws on Japanese vehicles were soft was a lie. It was the Philips screwdrivers tearing them up. Use a JIS on a Toyota and you will get it. As for the Robertson, I don't think Torx would have been invented without the Robertson leading the way.

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to. The Ball Grip Ratchet Interchangeable Screwdriver is roughly 2x the price of the Vessel 220w-3 in both USA and Canada on Amazon and it seems to be the same situation on Japanese sites I looked up. Maybe because I am in Canada, I don't get the same search results as you. If you have the chance to get the ratcheting driver cheaper than the 220w-3, definitely pick it up!
