@Mocanu Stefan I may disagree with the grind as well, but it doesn't take away from the raw beauty of this country and her people. Most people had never heard of the Faroe Islands up until a few years ago. With the increase in tourism, the grindarap is getting a lot of negative publicity - perhaps this exposure will eventually put an end to this annual event. I certainly hope so.
I really like that you go in to lots of detail about the Faroe Islands, but still manage to talk about numerous other topics without making it at all boring. Keep it up!

Faroes Islands is one of the beautiful islands in the world. It is one of my favorite places in the world. I visited the Faroes Islands in July 2015. It is so much green and mountainous terrain with impressive fjords. The weather is so changeable (rain and sunny). I took a local bus and boat to travel on the islands. Hiking was fun exhilarating and inspired by stunning mountainous island landscapes with nested coastal villages.
Thank you for this great video! Great information. I hope to visit the Faroes soon!

Very interesting document, thanks a lot. I use to go from Denmark to Iceland onboard ferry Norröna and, as this ship stops in Tórshavn, that is a good opportunity to spend a week visiting Faroe with my own vehicle and my drone. There are iconic places and good places to eat. You forgot to mention and show the Faroese banknotes. They are among the most beautiful in the world, probably even THE most wonderful.
The best ever coverage of a country. Salute to creators of this clip. The team has taken horrendous efforts to compile information about Faroe island. The team has provided greater details , comparison with the rest of Europe and world. Kudos to the team

I dont get it entirely about faroe islands independency but it certainly isnt correct. They had 2 votes where the first voted for complete independance. It was not recognised and a revote was done. This time the pro denmark won. Faroe islands has been a part of Norway the most time... He has clearly not been in Faroe islands. Every person can easily tell difference between summer and winter in faroe islands. And it can be by the amount of snow which is none during the summer.
Although each Atlantic Island has unique landscapes every single one feels like home.

On Sunday night, September 12th, a super-pod of 1428 Atlantic White-Sided Dolphins was driven for many hours and for around 45 km by speed boats and jet-skis into the shallow water at Skálabotnur beach in the Danish Faroe Islands, where every single one of them was killed. For such a hunt to take place in 2021 in a very wealthy European island community just 230 miles from the UK with no need or use for such a vast quantity of contaminated meat is outrageous.

@norsenomad
3 жыл бұрын
@@FenceThis Actually, in its most specific definition, it does. And by definition, the most specific of the English word describes both the language (Entry 1 of 2, 1a), people (Entry 1 of 2, 2b) and heritage (Entry 2 of 2, 1) of Norway, or norðrvegr/norvegr at the time. The explanations, as parenthesized, refers to the Merriam-Webster dictionary: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Norse The word Norse is English translation of the Norwegian word norrøn (masculine and feminine) and norrønt (neutrally determined gender form).

NorseNomad actually it doesn't , and Merriam-Webster does not support that either, neither in general nor in its most specific definition. Norrøn isn't a Norwegian word either for that matter.

If anything, the Dutch reference is simply a corruption of the word " norsk ", meaning Norwegian in all Scandinavian languages.

You do. =) Just you know, don't be surprised if tempers flair a bit when it comes to that topic. Its a part of the Faeroese culture and being such a small nation and culture they're obviously quite protective of their culture, for good reason. At the same time its a sore point for people like me who care about animal welfare and/or rights and who are less then thrilled about their hunting... So with strong feelings on both sides of the conflict things can easily escalate a bit...
