Greg, thank you bro, this video REALLY helps and is validating. 177lbs to 181 is my sweet spot - given current amount of muscle mass(153.2) >>177lbs=24 BMI at 13% body fat to 181lbs=24.5 BMI at 15% bodyfat, will maintain at 13% and then mini-bulk up to 15% and then slow cut back down to 13% and repeat over and over - until get to 10% body fat at 181lbs - have muscle memory - thank goodness, so it will not take as long as it could of been. An overlooked aspect of fitness is being at the best weight for your frame. For example - 2 people who are 5'9" and 150 pounds can look entirely different even if they have the same exercise and diet regimen.

Most definitely. I’m 6’5” and my perfect muscular/fit weight is 240-250. I have a large frame. My BMI calc is 192! If I get anywhere below 230 I automatically get knee and back pain, and my hips hurt on daily walks-strength, energy and overall well being drop off the charts. I’m 58 and have been training pretty much nonstop since I was 15.

I dont think frame is overlooked by the majority of trainers and health professionals. Greg has this idea that everyone should target their bmi to match his own. If someones natural frame is broad shoulders- they are likely going to look better with more weight on them.

This makes sense. I’m 5’9”, and 45. My BMI is 25.1. My body fat is around 10%. I’m at the beach all the time and it surprises me how often people ask about my fitness, even when there are more muscular guys around. One lady even told me that despite seeing more muscular guys occasionally, their bodies are not as attractive. Since his advise requires me to change nothing at all, I’ll think I’ll go with it for now.

IMHO every individual has his or her own opinion on their dream body. While i am glad the poster resides in his BMI of choice, i find it presumptuous for him to believe his body style should be what other guys want. As a 6’4” dude who has always felt skinny af at 195lbs (BMI of 25), i love finally bulking up to 240lbs (BMI of 28), as i dont feel skinny weak anymore. Each to his/her own, and i believe everyone willing and able to dedicate time and effort to working towards their ideal body composition are on the same team and to be applauded. 💪🏼
It has nothing to do with how much you weigh it's how you look that matters. I'm 6ft3 use to weigh 255lbs after bulking up for years and when i cut i thought I'd be 190lbs but my best body lean mass is 170lbs or bit below. Im 12% body fat, waist 30inch and chest 45inch, look lot bigger than i weigh so that's why it's best to ignore the scale for bit and just focus on looking/feeling better

Greg thanks ! Been following for awhile. A few years. Age 64 will be 65 in November. I know I’m the grandpa here. Was hovering in the high 10% BF range for years. Then changed one thing. Dropped the alcohol completely half the year. Zero none. Daily fasting 16 to 20 hours everyday. 2022 8.1% then this year 8.0% Both reading taken in May. My BMI lower 22.8 ver 22.6 6 1” 173. I’m ripped not at all skinny. Size 32 pants. Wide back defined shoulder chest and abs. I think everyone is different. When I was 18 I weighed 165 @ this height. With a lot less muscle… thanks for the guidelines and guidance! You cracked the code!

Similar thing here 60, I dropped alcohol, sugar, carbs and did a 20 day water only fast and now maintaining 16-20 fast daily. Size 32 now at 5'8. It feels great!

SOOO many bodybuliders take it too far. It seems too happen so easily, especially when doing weight lifting rather than bodyweight only, you can just keep increasing the weight and keep eating more and end up with that "lives in the gym, looks like he sells protein powder" look.

Every weight and body fat percentage is going to look different on every individual. It’s really hard to go by a BMI or the scale for that matter. For instance, if you have really muscular legs that’s gonna take up a lot of weight as it’s half your body.

To be honest how many times are you shirtless? Maybe once a year in public for me. I would rather look muscular in a shirt rather super lean. Sub 10 bf is not for everybody. Execellent presentation! I’m 65 , 5 ft 11 and weigh 180, yes I work out regularly since I’m a personal trainer . My BMI was25.24 and I feel terrific. I have dropped to 178 but my clothes look like they are falling off me so 180 to 183 is great for me !

Everyone's different, but for me 180 at 5'11" is to low. At least 190 and closer to 200 would be the most aesthetically pleasing for me. Wow, 180 is just to thin.

I'm 6'3 42 and my skeletal size i have a wide build big body structure. (my skeletal frame would be similar to the Rock or Arnold) I would classify my muscle mass and strength as intermediate. I weight 247 but don't look like it . A 24 BMI for me is 200lbs I look sickly at 200lbs. I look my best at 220 to 225. I think this advice is spot on for average size guys but for us bigger guys BMI doesn't work as well.
Honestly I've been FLUFFY with a BMI of 26 and athletic / jacked / cut at 23 BMI.... so idk it's probably more what you find is aesthetic subjectively and that you FEEL healthiest with

So 78kg is it anything higher is preobese for me ? 177cm female. I thought I looked my best at 67kg. But to be my most attractive is actually about 58kg??? I’ve been 55kg before and that was during ballet training so I suppose you are right that it’s the ‘most attractive weight’…however it was extremely difficult to maintain. I can’t imagine training that hard or being that restrictive now I have a huge family to care for. I think 65 kg us where it’s at for me. My partner likes that too the most but maybe that’s because he doesn’t want me looking too good?

As an ectomorph myself bodyfat pretty much takes care of itself although it's harder to put on muscle and weight.
It’s also how you carry the weight. I touch a dumbbell and get a huge neck and traps. Always gonna look bigger than my height/weight would suggest.
I'm the same height as Greg, I rather be lean and around 210lb honestly. As I do fighting such as Muay Thai and also going back to MMA eventually, I like that weight since it allows me to at least match up with the bigger 6ft+ guys who weigh that much in grappling especially. Plus I feel insanely strong 200lb+

I’m 5’11” and I’m like 195 right now and I’m not super lean (I can see abs if I flex them but otherwise I have a flat stomach). I feel super strong but my face isn’t that lean and that’s the biggest issue lol

My formula was always that perfect wheight for men is example 183cm -100 equals 83kg at this wheight u could still have great cardio and have some size bassically you would look like a ripped sprinter example my legs are bigger than my upper body so i apply +3kg rule to this so my perfect wheight at 183cm would be around 85-86

to be fair, hes actually fairly right about bmi but for me personally i carry a lot more weight in my legs so i usually sit around 26.5 BMI
1 went from 33 bmi at 6'3 at 15 I was 265lbs, Currently 225 6'3 that's 28 bmi at 16 I'll be 17 soon and I'll be joining a gym to gain more muscle mass. Been working out at home but I'm not seeing as much progress anymore

Im 5'9'' and my ideal weight is between 160-166 at that weight, Im rocking a 33 inch waist and Im shredded. Because at that point if Im doing regular cardio and my calisthenic game is rocking, Im going to be fighting weight. I'm also prior combat arms, and that was the weight I was back when I was "dangerous". On the other hand, I have also been roided out and clocked in around 230 and was throwing around massive amounts of weight. I prefer to be in the first category these days at 40, and that build seems to garner more respect than the meathead build. Also in my older age, I appear to have gotten more vascular, I have come to accept that as a genetic aesthetic.

I have a 325 bench 440 deadlift 375 squat and a 230 lb press. I'm 6 foot 235 and I don't know if I need to cut or gain more strength. I don't want to look skinny at 6 foot and end up shredded at 180 lbs haha
I'm 6'3 200 lbs right now at around 15% bodyfat. I wanna get bigger but I think I'm actually at that point where more size doesn't make me look better. I'd be better off losing 5 lbs or so and being a little bit leaner

Nice! I used to be 5'11" 160-170lbs at 15% bf but I'm 6'0" at 190 20% now....I've got a lot of muscle so you can see separation and definition but you only see my abs if I have a good pump in good light. I think 15% is the best, you still look soft but solid...any lower and you get a level of shredded and vascularity that I dont personally like....I've been at 12% and yeah it definitely pulls chicks but I always felt like shit lol. I think I can get back to 15% but prob at 170 based on where I am :( when my health is back to 100 I do plan to bulk and try and get to 185 at 15%.....I just love the look! A lot of these short guys just look bigger....my 6'4" friend and fellow rower in highschool was just as strong as me but looked like a complete string bean...likewise my 5'7" friend looked like a total beef cake lol

There are maths of height:weight ratio. Mostly for men just calculate your height in inches and multiply by 2.5 and that gives you an average of where you should be. Great video. For women multiply by 2.2

Sleeper builds are best, 5'8" 128. My balance is insane, speed, everything.. I tried 135 I did not like how much slower I felt.
The website is broken.
BMI charts are often inaccurate. U need a measurement of exact Ievel in a medical office. The standard BMI charts are ideal for thin body types but a little low for athletic types and too low for rounder body types.
i agree, at 193cm I find 184 to be my most shredded at 9bf%. Might go to 85kg but thats the highest.... not only do i feel super strong but lean, quick and powerful.
Im 5 9 and am really bulky with musle, Do I want a 25 BMI? I feel like that would kill my body cause of my build
