The Most Amazing Kayak Rigging Project Ever - Rig a Kayak

So I got this new Bonafide SS127 and I decided to completely rig it with all the accessories. So I took it down to Westbrook Supply Co. in Atlanta and had Fletch help me out.

I think we all have friends like this. Ask you for help and then find lots of other things to do rather than help out, leaving you to do all the work. Later you'll hear them say how 'we' or 'they' added this or modded that.

For the side mounted LED - what about fabbing a hood to run over the top to keep those lights from hitting your eyes?

The hood could keep the light out of your eyes no matter where you were in the boat. If your sitting the lights are low enough to not see them. But what if you stand up to do something now your perspective has changed and they ruin your night vision.

i'm 6'4" and weigh 210-220(depending on my diet that week lol) and have an RS117. I would say that if you could afford to SS127, you'd feel a lot safer. And the seat would be much better. If you can't afford that, I would go with the Old Town Topwater 120. It's the most stable boat I've ever tried(especially for the money). Has a huge load capacity and bigger guys would feel safe in that boat. The Topwater 120 is my vote for bigger guys needing a kayak for 1000 bucks or under but you really should demo a few boats IF possible. We all like different things and I know other peoples idea of "stable" is different than mine. Most boats feel very unstable to me. The RS117 is good for my size but I think if I was 20-30 pounds bigger I'd need the Topwater 120.

Hey Gene, I’m wanting to get into kayak fishing and fishing of a night as well. I have never been on a kayak but still wanting to get out on one and start fishing from it. I was wanting to know do the fishing kayaks have a livewell made into the kayak or is it a separate option that has to be bought and put on the kayak. Any info you good give would be appreciated. I love your fishing videos on KZread. I have picked up somethings I didn’t know or didn’t understand very well. The videos are super and you have done a good job in trying to educate people about fishing. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. By the way I live in Byrdstown Tennessee home of Dale Hollow Lake. I saw some video from when you where here fishing in the spring for smallmouth. Maybe next time I can catch up with you and meet you and talk fishing with you to learn as much as I can. Good luck on your next fishing trip and thank you for the videos.

I have about $11,000 in mine now. What really broke the bank was the GPSMAP 8612 with the Panoptix Livescope system. Screen was so big I had to make a custom forward mount out of 3” wide aluminum bar and add the Cisco Fishing tall electronic mount to install the big screen on. The tall mount puts the base even with the top of my pedals on my outback. I basically have a forward screen now so I can look straight ahead and view. 12” screen with Livescope let’s me fish like I’m playing a video game. However, I don’t like drilling a ton of holes in my rig. And I’m old. Battery bank is set up in my crate as is the GLS-10. Switch on my battery box let’s me turn off power to GLS-10. Transducer is on a Fishfinder mount’s Gen 2 Livescope mount. Lights? I have a yak attack anti collision light with orange flag. All of my Electronics are easily removed when I load. This way, I can still load by myself as I’ve added no weight to my rig.

I own a boat, but if you ever get into a kayak and hook into a big fish you'll know why I love fishing out of them. Plus I spent all day today on Guntersville in my boat and several times I wish I would have had my kayak so I could get way back in the mats where the fish were. I got my boat stuck twice trying.

I HAVE THE ANSWER FOR YOU!, MOUNT THAT TO A FRAME TO STORE UNDER A PONTOON BOAT, IT WILL ALWAYS BE WITH YOU.
