The Morgan Aero 8 was an Insane Sports Car Hand Built For The World's Most Eccentric Car Guys
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Morgan is unlike any other car company operating today, although 110 years ago, they were like a lot of other car companies. The difference is they never really modernized - all of their cars are hand built from the ground up, each one is sold to a customer who ordered it before it was built, and no two are exactly alike. To order a Morgan is to take part in something very unlike the modern world, and I can only imagine it's a remarkably charming experience.
This Aero 8 was Morgan's first new design in 60 years when it came out in the early 2000s. Yes, 60 years. If that's really going to be the interval between new models, then they better get the design right. In the case of the Aero 8, they did.

If I was ever required to drive cross-country with one other person on this planet, including (or especially) someone in my beloved family, it would be Bill. This is the best, most enthralling, most spontaneous, and most informative car video channel on KZread. Thanks Bill for generously sharing your personality and knowledge with us. The world would be a much better place if you had 6 billion subscribers.

Very unexpected car never of envisioned one of these on Curious Cars Bill. My grandfather had a Morgan Plus 8 got it brand new for his retirement in 1977.
I love how their "new" design still looks like mid-20th century at the latest. Love Morgan!

I love hearing Bill talking about the goats and the weather.
Oh my goodness! That was fantastic. I was lucky to have had a tour of the Morgan factory a few years ago and your review brought all the memories back. Loved the humour as always (!), the history lesson and that car, the noise. Wow. Made my day. Someone is going to be very lucky indeed with that car 😊😊😊

Made in England - more of a warning label. Sprayed a mouthful of coffee when you came out with that! brilliant! :) Morgan banned Jeremy Clarkson from their showroom(s) and won't ley him test drive any due to what he said about the company! Regards!

Funny, most Brits (or Aussies where I am now) think "Made in the USA" as a warning regarding cars. Jeeps are infamous and most others failed (in terms of reliability) or sold poorly. The current Mustang is an exception in Australia, selling well, and fairly reliable.

Bill, you always nail your car history and its a real pleasure to hear your version of this jaunty Morgan story told in your inimitable style. You never ramble because your a humorous and spicy story teller. I love your weather reporting too and any reference to the cat calling. Thank you for sharing. A fan from Auckland NZ. Go Well Good Sir.
Neat & unique ride. I love that exhaust note. I could easily live without a stereo in this car.
Each video gets better and better.
Brilliant video - really enjoyed watching and very informative. Thanks for taking time to post.

A friend from my youth had an older brother who drove Morgans. This was in the early ‘70s. An eccentric guy with a very eccentric family. They also loved Saab. Great review Bill!!

Ramblin' Man Bill, love your videos especially your comment about the jump box for English built cars as a warning label that I know all too well, my Jaguar and Land Rover spent more time in the shop than on the road, but both were still wonderful vehicles.
Bill, don't stop rambling its a big part of this channel! By the way I hate heat and humidity just as much as you do, its very humid here in Auckland this morning (about 100%) and it sucks. Love your videos.
Have you ever seen the "How It's Made" episode where they do Worcestershire sauce? It's a terrifying insight, highly recommended.
@matty6848
2 жыл бұрын
Morgan’s are made in Malvern where I live Worcestershire sauce is actually made in the city of Worcester itself about 12 mile away. Being a Malvern local I see Morgan’s being test driven all the time around Malvern. To the locals it’s just a normal thing to see a Morgan driving around although you can hear them, before you see them.
Exquisite, lots of fun, really appreciated, thank you Bill 👍
Great video bill. Absolutely love the morgan.
Keep them coming Bill...and keep rambling!!!!
Looking forward to watch this tomorow morning...always had a soft spot for Morgans with the ashe frames (even though this one got an aluminium-structure with ashe parts as far as I remember) and BMW V8s...love the design of this even though it's a pretty big SQUINTER. Thank you for the amazing selection of cars. I really like the 40 minute formate and I think it fits the depth or your reviews (including rants and practical philisophy) rather well.
As usual great presentation on a great car it’s fantastic to see an automobile that only a selected few have great show
Things I look for in Bill’s videos in priority order: 1) Weather report. 2) Bird status. 3) Goat/cat sightings. 4) Back seat size for chipper Canadians. 5) Dalton’s crappy windshield job. 6) Exasperating sighs. 7) Bad song on the radio. 8) Car review.
It was 49 degrees this morning in northern GA.
Beautiful car! I always loved Morgan's real English automobiles, also I agree with you Bill why would anyone buy an engine from your arch enemy?! Thanks for this in depth video.
WOWWW thanks Bill... What a fun video with a beautiful car!!!
Bill please don't lose to much of you're rant it makes it interesting and I would miss it
I really enjoyed watching your video, thanks
I live in Malvern Worcestershire, England and I see Morgan test driving their cars round the town all the time. To us locals it’s nothing special. Visitors say “oh look a Morgan” and we’re like “yeh we see em all the time”😂
I won't ramble on.......goes on to give us the history of Morgan.😁 Love your vids Bill, keep it up.👍
The rambling is as entertaining as the cars. Thanks for the background info.
Another very detailed car review from the the weather channel 😂 well done Billy bob🇮🇪
wow 2 videos in 2 days... beautiful car
What a cool find Bill, sharp car.
It is good to see a Morgan! The biggest mistake I made when I went Florida for a speaking engagement in the summer was to arrive with a black suit and tie in Miami. It was extremely humid and hot 🥵
WOWEEEEEE !!!! What a fricken BEAST !!!! I would pay big money just to go for a ride in that thing even as a passenger 😁👍
Great video Bill!
What a beauty. I know they previously mostly sold Plus 8s here. I'd actually love to see a Lexus 2UR V8 in one of these. If you're on a British spree I'll await all the Caterham, TVR, Marcos and the like. Hopefully. I respect all these small automakers. I'd love to even drive something like a Ginetta road car if I could.
The reason for the BMW engine, this was the first Morgan with one but now all Morgans have BMW power is that a BMW director, I forget who, is an enthusiast and owner. BMW accommodate Morgan to such a degree that when the 4.4 V8 ceased use in their own cars BMW continued to hand build it in the prototype shop (rumoured at a loss) just for Morgan until emission rules finished it completely. Now they use the 6 cylinder from the M340i and the 4 cylinder from the 330i. Would GM have hand built 2 or 3 units a week of an out of production engine because they liked to see them in a Morgan?
@matty6848
2 жыл бұрын
I think G.M would. Many Americans are highly fond of Morgan’s because of their old fashioned English look. I’m sure G.M would of accompanied Morgan with specially built engines. Plus your supposed to be buying a English car with a German engine? I’d much rather have a American V8 under the hood. No one build better sturdy V8s than our American cousins do.. I have a Mustang with the V8 engine and she runs like a dream. In the 18 months I’ve had her, she’s gave me no problems, no check or alarm lights nothing, modern BMW engines wouldn’t do that.
Awesome video Bill! I’m glad I’m a car guy too because curious cars are a shit ton of fun! Cheers 🍻
Love your video's!
No thumbs down so far, so I guess Dalton hasn't watched this video yet
Beautiful and what a symphony from that BMW V8.
Bill you should check German version of Morgan-Wiesmann, looks a bit better in my opinion, especially coupe. Anyway it was a pleasure as always. Take care.
A lot of people enjoy "that moist feeling." Don't stop rambling. We enjoy it. This isn't the Florida Council of Tourism.

I absolutely love you channel man!!! Amazing contentt!!! where do you find these mint cars? I would love to know!!!
Awesome to see how different parts went into this.
Bill, love the video. Fantastic commentary as always. Hate to tell you, but it's not a secret if you tell us. Lol. Don't change.
My God! That sounds incredible!
I do like the rambling discourse and knowledge combo and also the weather updates, please don't change that. I hired a Morgan in London about 25 years ago. Bumbled about with the roof and doors off. Decided at the end of the hire to take the car to an automated car wash (no brushes, just spray). Well, I was young and you can guess what happened. Everything inside and out was thoroughly washed, including me! It's certainly a fair weather vehicle. No use during hurricane season.
Nice cozy night in America's history cradle 47 degrees, Keep that hot crappy humid weather down there, Thanx!

Hi Bill, when you closed the bonnet, I noticed a dent on top. Possibly the replacement battery was too tall and caused this? Just curious what your thoughts are. Love your videos, keep up the great work!!!
I’ve driven lots of cars but Morgan’s are always a joy to drive. Have driven the Aero 8, Plus 4, 3 wheeler. My favorite was the 3 wheeler for sure. It’s a joy to drive even at a very slow pace.
THE most stunning car design🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was a real interesting video on a car I didn't even know exist. I had a friend who had a Morgan plus 8 in Germany in the 80s that had a 8 cylinder I think chevy engine the waiting time for a new one was 2 years. You better had all your dentures in order I never drove a car with absolute no feeling of any suspension or shocks it was like taking a 2 by4 and putting wheels on ,soooo much fun However I really enjoyed that great video

Like your videos. You complain about the Florida weather, but I think that out here in Phoenix Arizona we give you a run for your money as far as miserable summers go. We hit 100 twice this week and it's only early May. Come June we will be regularly getting over 110. It's been so dry here that when I see rain it looks beautiful and exotic. On some summer days our overnight low is over 90.
Such a Awesome little Beast of a car, it's a Shame what's under the hood. Thank you Bill
