At the time people use to unfairly label him as a bit boring, maybe because of the tone of his voice. But if you were truly into f1, you knew he was a massive personality. I know at Silverstone at least, the team directors use to have to tear him away on a night as he just loved chatting with all the fans, back when you could go to the pit areas.

I say the latter... I actually like Mansell he was entertaining driver and great overtaker that was very fast on his day but Senna and Prost were another level. Great performances in 87, the underpowered car in 88, the temperamental Ferrari in 89-90, and the slow start in 91. It all came together finally in 92 - the only downside was that Prost wasn't racing so Nigel never beat him in that sense. I was overwhelmed by Adelaide 94 and Williams should have kept him for 95. He does not get enough credit for how good he was. Additionally, he was competing against Senna and Prost 2 of the all time greats in F1.
