The Moffat Road Part 2 | Winter Park to Glenwood Springs
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Originally released on DVD in 2013, take a tour of Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision in Colorado between the west portal of the 6.2 mile-long Moffat Tunnel at Winter Park and Glenwood Springs. Coal trains dominate the scene with plenty of high horsepower diesels on the head-end, middle, and rear. Travel through the depths of Gore Canyon to the lofty heights of the Craig Branch. See why the Rio Grande called this the "scenic line of the world."

Wow words can't describe how amazing how much footage you and your team has captured back in 2012. Its hard to believe that this was eleven years ago. The scenery is just breath taking & never gets old. Outstanding job and keep up with the hard work.

Thank you! It was a great series of trips and I have to say thank you to Joe McMillan of McMillan Publications for location assistance. He is a great photographer.
Wow!!! The Moffat Road part 1 & 2 are fantastic and outstanding; awesome scenery.
Beautiful! Great sound! Gorgeous scenery!
Man I sure do love Friday evenings. 😊
We lived in Fraser, CO - took the Amtrak train from Granby CO all the way to Oakland CA, what an amazing trip, well worth the time ❤. My grandfather did work on the Moffat tunnel as well...
Excellent!!!!! The Moffat Road part 1 & 2 are fantastic and terrific!!!!!!
Excellent video, thanks for presentation, from Germany
One time a few years ago me and my family were visiting Colorado and we went on the Durango and Silverton train and wow it was amazing me and my family live in Alberta Canada and we had a blast from the past in Colorado
I rode this route in both directions on the California Zephyr, westbound in late summer and again eastbound around Thanksgiving a few years later. The pace is leisurely, the scenery magnificent. And I'd do it again. Wonderful video.
So many fabulous documentaries to choose from! ❤❤❤
Please continúe bringing us these fantastic videos, they are an inspiration and the beauty of the terrain where you film is splendid, beatiful work. There is no doubt that this is a wonderful country May God bless America land of freedom!!!
Wow! You got the Hickory Creek on footage in this video! Awesome!
Hi I love the video you all heve
Again, the 7idea show us great videos form the beautiful western railroads. In summer of 2015 i was traveled by this fantastic route inside the gloriousAmtrak´s CZ from SLC to Denver. I suggest one video from Glenwood Springs to Helper UT to complete this wonderful travel. Thanks from Brazil!
Glad you made it to Crater. I lived in Steamboat and mostly stuck to between P burg and Craig based on whether or not a train was going my way. Made a couple of pilgrimages to Crater, not much traffic but did score, unforgettable. Biggest regret is not sneaking on at Pburg and riding over Toponas into Bond, get eyes on THAT.
Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography job/detailed train 🚂 map. Enabling viewers to better understand what the orator is describing. Noticed graffiti on both box and tanker cars. Perhaps the artists are seeing 👀their creations -?😲😲. Jimmy Rogers the " Singing Break Men "was a genuine break men. Till changing careers to a singing entertainer 🎸🎶 ( 1926 thru 1933 ) most memorable song " Break Man's Blues ".😭. Enjoying this presentation from the comfort zone of my computer room. Along the "Space Coast" 🚀 of Florida 🐊🐊. Wishing viewers & train care a /healthy/prosperous (2024)🌈🎉😉.
Is it just me or does the BNSF power always look cleaner and in better shape than the UP. Maybe they have more train washes around. 🤷♂️. Great videos from ya’ll. Thank you
Another great video. Thanks for all the work it took to make it.

Well done as a very beautiful Scenery to ride through. Done it eight times and truly loved it.😀🤠😎

Ok...... I'll admit it..... I miss the Rio Grande SD-40 Tunnel Motors. Alas.
Another great video! As I just returned from a vacation in that area, the details/history is fresh on my mind. Near the beginning of your video you make a comment that Winter Park CO is the highest incorporated city in the USA. Having just been to Leadville CO, they claim to be Looking up the stats: Leadville is 10,157’ Winter Park is 9121’
Looks like there were still a quite a few SP painted GEs back then.
Spectacular videos, Anyone notice the fox crossing the rails in front of the locomotives at 12:50?
You guys should make a trip out to PA and visit that Northfolk Southern Pittsburgh line. It would be amazing to see a production from you guys there!!
Here’s to hoping that critter beat the train @ 12:50

Freight Trains of BNSF and Union Pacific and Amtrak's California Zephyr in Colorado
While you showed the trains at Crater Loops I had good look on the trucks of the cars. I couldn't find any brake equipment on the trucks of the cars, but i know they must have one. But where??
I’m glad the SP AC4400s are still plying home rails, though I do have to say they’re definitely showing their age. Those yellow tumors keep showing up on the nose and cab. It’s a shame…they really need get that looked at. I hear It’s a pretty aggressive cancer that, if not treated, ends up covering the entire locomotive.
Hi or you going to do a are you going to do the winter scenes
I really like most of your video content, but I am against zoom shots at the store and everything and slow it down and make it blurry. Why?
minuto 13 quase a raposa é atropelada
Although a great video, I cant imagine covering this part of the MOFFAT road without filming the CRAIG branch. The original line. What a loss. And still active. No amtrack though so I guess no film is warranted. Pretty lame. David Moffat would be disappointed. ☹

I agree with that and wish it could have received more coverage, but traffic was hit and miss. Mostly miss. Fortunately I was able to catch a couple of coal trains at Crater.
Bond to Glenwood springs ain't the Moffat Road.
