Love these guys, but the home foundations = life's moral foundations metaphor needs some work. That the good moral foundations/home foundations are essentially the same is misleading. Love, fellowship, a sense of purpose and belonging are nearly universal. But there are dozens of good styles of building foundations used all over the world in many different conditions. Stick with the classic "you need a strong moral foundation like your home's foundation."

"The average household has 300,000 things." How exactly do you count items? Whose is your average person? What's the example? I don't believe that stat.

If they count every screw, nail, and piece of wood in the home then I could believe it. But if you remove most of them from your life you'll be living under a piece of carpet.

@@sustainabilitytheory5154 That's how I thought they come to that stat. You could count carpet for one room as one piece of 300,000 items someone owns or you could count every single fiber of the carpet and get they allot quicker. Same example for a book and it's pages, right? That has to be how they count it. It's a deceptive stat if they count it that way. I'd say the average person owns maybe a few hundred items. A household maybe a thousand. I don't buy my t shirts by the thread, I buy it how the store sells it to me and how it shows upon my receipt. That stat is supposed to have a wow factor, but I think it has a deceit factor. I'm not buying it.

I believe it. People own so much stuff. I've gotten rid of 2,500-3,000 things in my house just this year and I have barely put a dent in my house. Eta: I am not a hoarder either. People own a lot. It quickly adds up.
