People like you have inspired me to live within my means. I graduated 2 years ago and I saved every penny I could while working. I bought a small property just south of Pittsburgh for $25,000. I spent another $10,000 fixing it up myself. By next year I'll be free of my only debt obligation which is student loans. I watched my parents struggle with debt, and I refuse to be caged by it.

Be careful with The RV/van life crap. Its fake youtube crap. I been in rv since 2017 full time. It is not cheaper, by long shot. Unless you making bank with the fools watching youtube eating up ever fake VIDEO DREAM THEY are Selling YOU. CLICKBAITING YOU. It is ok at first. every 6 months to 1 year your have to do your roof reseal, the tires that come on your RV is only to get it out factory door. They are not rated for your water, sewer weight, food, driving place to place. Wear tear on your car. Insurance does not cover you when you come to a strop... at most $2000 pay outs. That you have to fight for at least a year for. your frig will not work like a house frig. Your food will go bad fast. Ever travel by car? Same thing. It gets old fast. It ages you fast. Truck trans goes out, then anywhere from $5000 to 20,000 for it to be fixed or replaced. Non of these RVs are made to be lived in. Only made to live in once great while, for a vacation. They will fall apart extremely fast. If your RV is older than 3-4 years old you can't get into campgrounds/RV Parks. Fact! You better have at least $10,000 Throwaway cash on hand at all times. Storms happen, accidents happen. Where do you go when you lose everything at once? Or Pandemic? That Microwave will go up every 6 months. The stove will not cook your food like a house stove, don't even think your making good food with the oven. Lol Most Rvs have 3 gallon hotwater propane tank. runs out in minutes. Fun at first. I am disabled. Money gone, stuck at campground with them wanting me to leave. No truck to pull my trailer. This is a nightmare. They talking about keeping all my things/RV and calling police to put me off property even though I am paid up on lot rent. They know, My truck gone, I only have $60 after rent and electric. Shit happens fast, on the road. People do not care about you. Maybe some YOU TUBERS stick together. But these people across the nation never do. How can anyone climb out of this with $60.00 bucks. No family left, no friends, been on road for years. Don't do fake vanlife dream they selling...

Tim, you have changed my life! I'm turning 60 this fall and up until just a few months ago, I was thinking that I'll have to work forever, that I could never afford to "retire". I was genuinely unhappy and depressed because my mindset was stuck here in the northeast where everything is super expensive. Well, now I'm planning to retire at 62 and move to a small town in a different state. When I sell my house, I will make a nice profit. With a portion of that money, I can buy a very nice camper for cash and the interest on the leftover money invested in short term CD's will pay the lot rent in a year-round RV park with all the amenities. My SS will provide me with the money I need for day to day living and I'll have $200K in CD's for emergencies. Now I go to sleep every night planning my escape from New England! I honestly haven't been this happy and optimistic in YEARS! Your channel has given me hope. God Bless You Tim. -Tim form New Hampshire.

Something that a lot of people don't understand is the amount of responsibilities that come with the big house, fancy cars and accumulating the income to support such a lifestyle, not to mention the amount of energy that you spend keeping all of those things secure. They think that being rich in a large house will make them happy. Some people it will, but very few. The minimalist will have an open schedule, peace of mind and the ability to do the things that are important to them. Minus the stresses of keeping up with the Joneses.

We're in a 30-foot Forest River Wildcat Maxx now, with 3 slides and we were finally able to move up onto a 50-acre piece of property. We love it! You're right. We have everything here that a house has, including a shed that my husband, the handy-dandy electrician/handyman, wired and plumbed for a washer and dryer and 3 freezers. I have 2 20-foot greenhouse tunnels for my summertime gardens (western Washington state isn't conducive weather for growning a lot of things) and I can look out my dining room window and see deer, elk, bobcat, coyotes and my poultry run where we keep laying hens, turkeys and guinea fowl. Same here. I've been living full time for almost a year and a half in my 2014 Winnebago Vista motorcoach. I tow my 2014 Ford Explorer. I still have a couple of big ticket items to sell, but after that, everything I own will be with me. The Vista has 3k of solar energy available and I use it a lot. I'm also a thousand trails camping pass member, so I'm able to stay in their system for two weeks for no overnight fees and full hookups. I developed and worked this plan for two years before embarking, but I can basically live on just my social security. I've learned I don't need or want anything that I don't already have. The only speed bump has been the cost of fuel. Sometimes, I have to plant myself near home base for a while and pay off the fueld costs associated with travel, then plan my next trip. I've been in Tennessee for a month and will be heading back to home base in about 10 days. Having solar will allow me to stay a couple of nights in rest stops on my way back. I only wish I had done this years ago, instead of giving money away on rent. That was stupid and I have much of the useful room I had in an apartment. I'm thining about starting up a channel myself to talk to and advise others on how to live this life on just Social Security. I'm so happy, see so many wonderful things. I'm alone, but never lonely.

Reminds me of the time when I had to live in an RV in Arkansas 1991. It was a 1 bedroom with a bathroom/shower. It had a dining area at the end of the RV just past the little kitchen and I decided to take out the big table and store it in the huge closet opposite the kitchen and turned what was a dining area with wrap around seating into my living room. I used the wrap seating like a couch and watched my TV or listened to my stereo. I was renting it from a lady I worked with at a Nursing Home. It was a nice livable experience that I still treasure to this day. So, I totally see how your life is a very comfortable one. I could absolutely live like that. I think you’ve got everything you could possibly need. I’m a woman so I would decorate it slightly different but there’s everything in there that there is in a apartment. The fact that you can move it to the mountains or the beach or someplace like that is absolutely wonderful. What a great idea and way to live on Social Security. I will to continue watch your channel. This is the first one I’ve seen. I would to find out how you make money on that side gig. Unfortunately, I’m slightly disabled and I don’t know if I could handle doing a trailer by myself my goodness I sure wish I could. I think that’s a wonderful way to live. So your vehicle has a V-8 engine? This is a great idea. I’m torn between doing something like this, purchasing a motorhome, or just going ahead and purchasing a Mobile home in Florida somewhere. I have an adult son that lives with me and I’m retired now just retired on Social Security and pension and I live in Michigan and I’m ready to go!! I think it’s time to sell my house. Thank God it’s paid for and get out of Dodge and go someplace and live out my life comfortably picking up shells on the beach, sipping a margarita enjoying life.😊 But after living in a house a three bedroom two bath home I’m not so sure I could could downsize into a camper. We had a 41 foot diesel pusher but we ended up selling that in 2017. I wish I would’ve held onto it. 👍 Great video

Many former homeless people are doing this as well, to get out of the trap of homelessness. Seniors and disabled people are the fastest growing class of homeless citizens now. I'd give the extra plates, napkins, and sporks/forks to the store breakroom, and still had some to bring home. I'm still using a few items I brought home with me, like kitchen utensils.I got the large version of that white table, and my husband took it over to set his table saw on it. I really enjoyed that job for three years, then got hurt, unable to go back to it. Which was okay since the company got bought up, then lost the contract with the store. I got out just in time. I personally never had human kids haha but I do have 2 fur babies and one fur baby who passed away. I tell people all the time, THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I MADE WAS BUYING MY HOUSE BACK IN 2017 (when we had a REAL PRESIDENT) and IF I ever have the chance to get out from under this thing I am going to do like you are doing and go for a camper!!! Try to find a used DIESEL stay away from a gasser but avoid the 6.0 Ford that replaced the 7.3 its a piece of junk. Any Cummins works though. One more thing. Search the ENTIRE country for both the truck and coach.

A minimalist lifestyle is a great idea, but a few key points. Your last home should be near medical care / facilities, public transportation, be wheel chair accessible (inside and out), single story (at some point you most likely won't be able to use stairs). All these considerations will keep you in your home longer.

Also, our house is less than 1/2 mile from the police and fire department and there is a park/waterpark 1/4 mile from our front door. Plenty of restaurants and a grocery store nearby. We enjoy a very safe and comfortable lifestyle and our home has more than doubled in value, so we can use all that equity if we need to. Gotta plan ahead.

@@rubyparchment5523 it really is! My husband & I were "willed" a condo after his Uncle Died last year. Uncle Jim just included me bc I'm my husband's spouse. We purposely had him not put my name in the WILL bc we didn't want anything to be taken or taxed etc. So my husband sold the condo and put the money in an account where I am the beneficiary (regardless I know acct #s & pins etc) ..but we are purchasing a house where my income is being used. But since the house technically is still the loan company's bc its a mortgage we can do that so SS can't say anything about it. It was crazy bc I obviously needed my SS way before I became Paralyzed bc I didn't know at the time, but the condition I have is a slow moving condition that comes on gradually as did mine..during the 4 years I waited & fought back and forth they sent me a letter saying exactly this "it has come to our conclusion that your not Paralyzed enough " WHAT?! nor Paralyzed ENOUGH???! I was livid! I wrote a nasty reply back & had a Judicial hearing next..that Judge was so compassionate & apologized saying I should have had this year's ago! She said at the end she wasn't employed by SS that she just was contracted to make a decision..she gave me my approval and said you will get your money in 7-14 days & 4 years of backpay. They also had to give my 3 kids back pay. At the time of applying my 2 girls were minors 14 & 15..and our son was just born..so each of my girls got checks directly to themselves & purchased homes w it..our sons we put in an acct as we do his monthly checks so he has a good head start in life. I did my whole case by myself bc no lawyer wanted it. It just came down to documentation.

I like it Tim. I've been doing minimalism since 2008. I sold my last house in 2007, 2800sq ft with high taxes. Had the car payments and credit cards back then too. A move and divorce resulted in a career change from 25 years in tech to trucking with a little oilfield in between. Prior to moving here to a paid off home in the Philippines, I've lived in : sleeper of a truck (10+ years) the V berth of my dad's sailboat, a slide in pickup utility shell converted to a camper and a 6x12 converted cargo trailer to a rustic cabin at a campground. Never felt more free with less stress than when I started the minimalist life (by necessity). I'm on about 2k SS and I have a cash savings account with some investments. I have a little Honda 150 Enduro here and my truck/camper and HD in the US in storage. Once I get my permanent marriage visa after 1 year on a spouse visa, I will come back to the US for visits.

I am about 3 years away from retirement, so I try to catch all the videos of those with more knowledge, so I am prepared for the transition.

I just love to hear how enthusiastic and appreciative you are over your home...bravo!! Enjoy life!! Who wants to slave away 40 ++ hours a week if they don't have to?

Great set up for you. Being female I could not live in that small of an RV. My body products wouldn't even fit. My house isn't super huge for 2 of us but we do intend to downsize. I couldn't tolerate the florida heat either. I love Virginia where we have 4 seasons. Best to you❤ enjoying your videos - keep 'em coming!!!

Virginia is a great State as long as you do not get too close to DC.

I really enjoyed the tour!! It seems like a pretty good set up. My husband and I will hopefully retire soon. We are so afraid we can’t afford it but your videos give us hope. I don’t know that we could live the lifestyle but you give us good information. Thanks TIM. Loving your channel!

you definitely give me ideas ... I currently pay rent for a small apartment, that is not getting any bigger but the cost for renting it does! I like your idea that, over time, something like this life style (assuming you don't have too much you have to pay out for WHERE to put the RV) may well pay for itself. I certainly CAN'T say that about my rent! like many other RV'ers, you have your own individual way of living -- you adapt or modify as it suits you and sometimes stresses in life are related as much to the INABILITY (whether real or perceived) to do that rather than the circumstances themselves. I'll have to look up the "mental or psychological" pluses of RV'ing (whether limited or full-time). I get the impression that RV'ing is as much a life STYLE (or preference) as it is a practical means of taking care of your basic needs.

New subscriber here...absolutely this is all a person needs at this juncture of life. The husband and l have a small home in southern california...it's paid for...we have family in Florida and this is what we want to do. How is the summer months in the trailer? I work 3 days a week at Costco doing demos. The most interesting job l have ever had...😂

I'm happy for you. You have a wonderful set up. I was so shocked that it was 80 inside your camper that early in the morning! I think Florida might be too hot for me, but you obviously love the Florida lifestyle. You have saved a fortune in living expenses and I can hear the freedom in your voice. Thank you for sharing your beautiful life.

I love this. Similar to how we grew up in a tiny house. I will do this when I save for my camper. I want to crush it too!
