I live in the wild west. My chore jacket easily conceals my large .45 caliber handgun and a Benchmade Infidel.. It also carries a good Leatherman, flashlight 🔦

@bigbadbith8422 when I was living in rural Ireland, I used my flashlight 🔦 and was quite surprised to hear it referred to as a "torch".
Thanks for the tip Ash. I have just taken delivery of the tan version and am very impressed. It’s perfect for casual wear with some chinos. I would never have found this company without you. Keep up the good work!

Hope you enjoy it!
Ash, you are a bastion of taste for men around the world with your infectious pedagogy on the subject !
I've got a heavy canvas jacket in olive drab with a brown leather collar made by Timberland which has been my "chore jacket" while hauling and stacking firewood, shoveling snow, raking leaves, etc., for more than two decades now. -It wears like iron and looks remarkably good when dressed up with a green tartan Burberry cashmere scarf.

That sounds delightful
Best channel ever
I have a warm, dark blue DONKEY JACKET which I wear in autum/winter. It is really sturdy and rugged and made to last. It features the characteristic dark leather (or PVC patches) on the shoulders and on the elbows. It comes with quite a tradition as it can be traced back to the 19th century. As I have family ties with mining I find it quite appropriate to wear as a reminder of my own heritage.

Wow, that's an old jacket! In all seriousness, yes the donkey jacket is I must admit part of my familial heritage too...
I wear a yard coat by Prison Blues which is similar to a chore coat. It is blue denim, but they do come in black.
Living in Alberta, Canada i tend to lean a little more western of course. My choice of a chore jacket is an oilskin. I have from a vest all the way to a duster. I like the way they look, feel and of course preform. An added advantage is when they get dirty a quick wipe or even just hose it off and they look good as new!! Great video as always Cheers 🍻
Nice. Barn coat in the US. I've had a variety of them over the years. They frequently come in a buffalo plaid (RobRoy Plaid in the UK). Sometimes canvas, even wool. Sure keep you warm.
Great jacket Ash. I just picked one up a month ago! Really enjoy the versatility and practicality throughout the seasons. A must in everyman’s wardrobe much like the chukka boot🍻
Mountain Khakis for me! Their denim shirts are like suits of armor and only get better over the years.
Nice, I recently found a vintage woolrich chore jacket, it's really functional and awesome good looks
Very enjoyable review Ash! I myself have one their Blue Bolts from a few years ago!
Great review Ash, thanks for sharing. Looks practical enough ansvar stylish aswell. Could use something like this whilst out camping.
Back in the 60s and 70s combat jackets were worn by lots of men and you could pick them up cheaply from army stores and they would last for years
I’ve got the same jacket, bought around 3 years ago. I also have a pair of jeans from the same company. Well constructed and fits well. Pockets great for everyday carry items.
Check out the Le Mont Saint Michel work jacket for the OG!
I've had a black 4 pocket canvas work jacket for a couple of years , i wear it in colder weather as it goes well with a woollen roll neck sweater .
Been wearing Carhartt jackets for 35 years for working in the yard or on the car. I also have one from LL Bean that has a detachable lineing that I use for casual wear. Cheers Ron
I have a lc king chore coat mostly for the warmer days usage. It’s been a great chore jacket and hope to get more wear out of it. I recently tried out the rail car chore coat. Pretty good construction and fabric but it more on the slim in the chest area for me at least. Still gonna keep it if I loose some weight. Yeah I like the chore coat especially in the 4 pocket with 1 flapped design, fit with my more casual style now of chinos and button downs.
Military surplus good source for this type of thing at a cheap price.
I think the jacket would look fairly smart if it were navy or charcoal colored, again with a button-down shirt.
I like it. I use a navy (cream buttoned) Armor Lux version with a dress shirt & it looks fine.... I hope.
Universal Works are probably the current UK masters of this kind of thing. They do various iterations of the chore jacket, their Baker's Jacket appears every season in a multitude of fabrics. They're great at casual shirts too. If you want to go French, Bleu De Paname are hard to beat.
Nice color on that jacket it would pair nice with the Seiko Alpinist watch

Yes it does!
As a journalist, I often wear my utility jacket over pretty full formal gear! Shirt and tie, often a waistcoat. It looks very suitable with my captoes, I think.
You seem full of beans Ash, that was an excellent review, your enjoyment shone through!

Glad you enjoyed it!
Something you might fancy..... A train drivers cotton, unlined blazer/jacket/coat. Very strong, almost smart ;) I have seen a couple of British made versions. I have mine, from work.
I have their Weston Field Jacket for nearly 3 years now. Great if you love pockets. I think I've found 12 but there might be more. It's a great jacket but a couple of things I would change about it. The sleeve length could be 1-2cm longer, and the press studs are a bit weak. Worn it a lot and due to so many pockets you can pack an overnight "lads night in London" amount of gear in it. My other fave jacket is a Mil-Tec M65 army jacket that every guy should have. Perfect deep pockets for holding your pint glass at a beer festival. Also has a thermal lining you can remove to extend its annual use pattern. But never pay huge amounts for a 'fashion' one. Look around.
The best work jacket is hands down made by Le LABOUREUR 100 % moleskine hydrone blue.(made in France)
A great review. The jacket appears both stylish and practical. My own workwear consists of Carhartt Detroit jacket, Wranglers and William Lennon boots. The Detroit a USA classic with rugged canvas, blanket lining and brass hardware. To be fair I still do not look like Kevin Costner. Maybe the And Sons Chore in blue might give me some Monty Don style on the allotment and during garden show visits?
ah yes, i love this jacket, i bought the tan version which looks great with a shirt (or a green plain top underneath) and i like to have the collar half up too... i bought the tan one as i have a green duffy combat jacket (tho, had it some years), but i also bought the green carver jacket too to replace it.. and i love wearing them!

Totally agree!
I’ve got a few things from &SONS and it’s they’re really nice, really like my Indigo Baker Boy hat from them. Although some of their stuff I can’t buy because their branding is too large and prominent.
I have the French Blue - alas without 20% off. But still a damn fine jacket. 😊😊😊😊
Now this is really my area of loved casual style (out of suited work hours) Good quality workwear made with love, skill and care - Made in UK (not sure the &sons one is? )
That is a nice looking jacket, Ash. In searching for a versatile utility jacket, I found most of the chore jackets to be either too heavily branded (I don't care for prominent brand labeling), or too expensive and fashion forward. What I ended up getting is a US Army M-65 Field Jacket. They are still made new and to specs, but available for civilian purchase. It is (at least for me) the utility jacket that checks most of the boxes. It is thigh length, but the zipper stops at the waist. That feature makes it easier to bend and squat without the jacket bunching up. It is rainproof cotton, and has four large cargo pockets, two up two down, and a hood shell which rolls into a zippered pocket in the collar. It has a removable polyester fill lining, and together handle all but the coldest Michigan winters. With both a zipper and button closures, it is easy to adapt how it's worn. Not as trim as that chore jacket you're wearing, but very useful for a broad range of needs, and pretty affordable.

A very sound choice
The chore jacket.
I wonder if their company was inspired by Filson? I see several similarities.
Excellent review, unfortunately it does not appear that the discount code is valid any longer.
Ash, being a weightlifter who benches around 375 pounds for repetitions, I was inspired by the protagonist in the “Jack Reacher” drama to buy a Carhartt and see how it’d look on my muscular yet less-than slender frame; it’s so hard to find good dietitians nowadays, you see. Anyway, it doesn’t hide the double chin, but I’m happy to report they’re worth every shilling!
Hi Ash. How would you compare the "chor" jackets by Barbour and &sons? I am assuming Barbour has few "chor" models with them.
@TheChapsGuide
Ай бұрын
I have not tried the Barbour version, but I’m sure it would be comparable
Hi Ash. Nice jacket. Out of curiosity, although not sponsored by "& Sons" did they give the jacket to you or discount? Seems like they should have contributed at least something for such a comprehensive review to your many thousands of followers.

I actually reached out to them and asked for a sample the jacket and they obliged. It is actually a case of reverse sponsorship - I begged them to be allowed to try an example of the Carver.
Hey Ash, what was the jacket you were wearing in your last video? "7 simple pleasures..."

That was a super cheap chore jacket from Costco (£16) bought about 2-years ago.
What size did you purchase?
@TheChapsGuide
Ай бұрын
Large. I had to size up to get a comfy fit.
What about the Donkey jacket 🤣🤣
Are their clothes made in England?
@TheChapsGuide
Ай бұрын
Unsure. Check on a garment by garment basis.
Not sure about the chore jacket
I am sorry Ash, can't deal with the tshirt jacket combo, any other shirt with a collar would work better, even an old school grandpa collar.
