The Micro and Macro: How Alienation Explains What is Happening in the World Today Dr. Susan Heitler
What could the far-off Gaza terrorist organization Hamas in it's war against Israel have
to do with parental alienation? Dr. Heitler shows how understandings of parental
alienation can clarify Hamas's techniques for garnering world support. The microcosm
of parental alienation can help us to understand similarly other dangerous macrocosms
(larger versions) of the alienation phenomenon. For instance, are we citizens-"the
children"-of the US and other democracies, at risk for becoming alienated from the
leaders in our government who are the better "parents" because of alienation strategies
of other political leaders who wish to replace them?
Susan Heitler, PhD, is a clinical psychologist. Formerly of Denver, she currently lives in
Israel. She has written over a dozen blogposts for psychologytoday.com to educate the
general public and psychotherapy professionals about alienation. For a list of these

clinical work, her blogposts on psychologytoday.com (which have attracted over 23
million reads), and her books, Dr. Heitler focuses in particular on how people deal with
the conflicts in their lives. Her book From Conflict to Resolution was the first to bring
understandings of the art of win-win conflict resolution into the general psychotherapy
literature. In addition, she has written a useful workbook for the general public entitled
The Power of Two. Related to the workbook, her website features a module called
PowerOfTwoMarriage.com that teaches collaborative communication, anger
management, and conflict resolution-skills that sustain both personal well-being and
positive family relationships. Susan Heitler, Ph.D. 1410 Grant St., Denver, CO 80203

Totally agree.
Interesting analogy. SO sad. Given that media is not very reliable, I wonder if there isn't a bit of that on both sides. Very complex issues over many generations.
MY HEART IS VERY SADDENED FOR SO MANY PEOPLE INVOVED. IT IS TOTALLY TRAGIC. IT IS JUST UNBELIEVABLE TOTALLY. I'VE NEVER UNDERSTOOD WARS. I'M JUST SO SORRY. PENNY

Many prayers for the people of Israel.
I don't entirely agree with Ur opening statement, but that's ok. U seem to be the only person I have ever heard to date relating family micro dynamics up to state/country macro dynamics. To me it's obvious. Take IRA & Protestants, the ANC & Boers, yes Palestinians & Israeli's. All these conflicts are about Alienation & dehumanisation. Like people say charity starts in the home, of course everything starts in the home good & evil. I would love to have a chat with you personally 🤔

I've been thinking more about a global power and control issue which is mapped into western government systems and trickles down to local govt services which are absolutely enabling the breakdown of the family through PA and empowering the disordered antisocial behaviour of the perps. As a TP this is the lived experience of systemic abuse, on top of the post separation abuse and child abuse of which they are complicit. This would be a more relatable and potentially actionable topic

I've been feeling guilty that I made a connection between the Massacre (Macro) and my personal massacre. It feels like my kids turned into Hamas operatives. Triangulation, big time.

@@NinaCohen-dl4hmI have tried to keep an open mind on this presentation & I accept Hamas are a crazy terrorist organisation, who operate underground metaphorically & literally. My instincts tell me that mass punishments don't work ie killing thousands of Palestinians & more of their children as collateral damage, for a moment forget morality, just the logical rationale. Before around 1990 there were few if any radicalised Moslems. One has to wonder from where & why they became radicalised, a point Sam Harris doesn't seem to mention?? I suggest that thousands more recruits to Hamas or Hezbollah etc are now waiting in the wings. An eye for 100 eyes, makes 100s blind & alienates previously neutral people against Israel. This has nothing to do with antisemitism & everything to do with Israeli foreign policy & the incompetence & corruption associated with Netanyahu. I think more Israeli's are beginning to realise?
Decent attempt.
