Hi - no one has broken in (and even if they did, there are a lot more locks and trackers to face) but still happy with this setup. One thing I would say is that the white paint has started to peel off but other than that, still very pleased with this setup. Hope that helps.

How far is the hole under the lock away from the door on the outside ?

What about rain and snow an dirt for a' couple of years not opening the lock do you can open it or you will cut it away.i think this is desinged for dry and warm weather countrys

Hi Ingus, apologies for the late reply, I have been neglecting the channel and comments but am aiming to be a bit more responsive going forward. The update on my C Evo is that I still have it 6 years later and still massively enjoy it. I have 3 motorcycles in total - this being on of them - and this is my go-to daily rider. Sadly, I've become more home based since COVID meaning i no longer have a great 45 min commute to work so often and so it doesn't do the same amount of miles as before but it's hands-down still the best bike for me to use on a daily basis.

Only thing is can’t they cut around the lock that’s the only thing I’m thinking of 😅😅

I've got a garage defender lock and base plate and like you said am considering fitting it . The only question is how would you remove/uninstall one if you were to vacate the garage ?

I think many of the others have a ball bearing that you smash into the bolt heads. With this one, you don’t need to as the lock covers the bolts and they are not exposed. This means the bolts can simply be unscrewed as long as the lock plate is off and the door is open to access the inside bolts. Hope that makes sense.

It's the primary way that the garage door is stopped from opening. So it's more of a large barrier stop the door from opening out-and-up if that makes sense?

I just don’t understand does it rest against the garage door? How is it stopping the door from opening? I to am trying to deter people from stealing my bikes and a lock with hasp only does so much.

Hi Jesse- the lock stops the door from swinging open as the lock blocks the ability to push out. This lock is designed for doors that swing out-up-and-over but would not work on roller doors. No lock is ever 100% proof but it should deter thieves versus not having anything. MC - in the U.K. it’s illegal to own a fire arm privately for protection purposes (same for most of Europe) FYI.

iam thinking the same lock to buy for the exact same reason :)

An angle grinder could still get through this with enough time but it would need to potentially cut up to 3 times (2 to get access to the lock, and then the lock itself which is quite awkward to cut). I would recommend you still have multiple other locks on your bikes and a tracker. I have multiple anti-angle grinder locks and ground anchor on my bike at all times plus 3 locks on the garage door. A thief can get in if they really want to but they'll be using up a lot of time, grinder discs and time. Another bike is likely going to be far easier to steal for them and so this is more a deterrent rather than a full-proof guarantee. Hope that helps.

Hi ,at £39.99 that’s a bargain, as all the work that goes into making this item ,not only that ,also supplied with fixings ,and padlock, at the end of the day nothing is going to stop someone, but it’s more of a deterrent ,but with style of security it wouldn’t take much to put a chain around it and pull it with a vehicle ,other than that it’s a good product .👍

Wouldn't they just cut it with a angle grinder ... or just peel out the corners of the door . It could do with this product fitted either side..

Almost all products can be cut through with an angle grinder eventually. With this product, they would have to cut through the top layer first and then angle grind the lock. The nice thing here is that the lock is in a protected case making it 1 step longer to break than one where the lock is exposed. There is no full-proof lock for garages but the aim is to slow down and deter and make it less appealing than other garages to break into.

@@mybmwcevolution1415 You wouldn't need to do much cutting. All you have to do is cut the base where it goes up. The door could pass right over everything else. Even tho you don't even need to cut. If you got a car or truck and a bit of chain, you can easily wrap the cain around that Tee part on top and pull it forward. It doesn't take much.
