The Matrix Revolutions - Caravan Of Garbage

Ойын-сауық

After the somewhat mixed reception of Reloaded at time of release the Matrix Trilogy concluded with Revolutions that same year. The idea was to wrap up the story of Neo, Trinity, Morpheus and Agent Smith in the most epic way possible! A mech battle with characters we didn't recognize and a fight in the rain. It's not all bad though, in fact, many consider it to be a worthy conclusion. Until The Matrix Resurrections that is. Thanks for watching to our Caravan Of Garbage review.

The EMP *does* shut down the ship that employs it. They need an electrical jump from another ship to get restarted. That's why the Zion dock doesn't have an EMP, and that's also why Locke says that they "handed the dock to the Machines on a silver platter" after the Hammer uses its EMP. The EMP killed the Sentinels in the dock, but it also shut down any remaining defenses they had, leaving it and the rest of Zion vulnerable to the Sentinels that were outside of the EMP's range.

Something I admire about "The Matrix: Path Of Neo" because it's basically the Wachowski's just redoing the trilogy just as a pure popcorn power trip. You get crazy ants, you get homages to samurai films and, as said, the final stage involves you fighting against a giant smith which promptly goes back to the reveal of the war being over to "We Are The Champions". I mean, credit where credit is due, if it seemed the films acted too *intellectual* or *Ambitious* for your taste, for better or for worse, this sets that right back down to earth.

I was the leader of the largest Zion faction on one server of The Matrix Online. One thing that should have been mentioned, is that the MMO had Live Events, featuring characters like Niobe, Ghost, The Merovingian, Agent Pace (and early on, Morpheus.) No MMO had, or since has, dedicated Live Events which wrote the player characters who participated in them, into the official story. For example, my character had the very first and very last private meeting with the character Niobe, played the first time by a member of the Live Events Team, and the last time by the only remaining developer, handle "Rarebit." It was truly a unique MMO, and you couldn't convince anyone deep into playing it, that it wasn't the best game going, because of the unique Live Event opportunities.

One piece of trivia I wish you had mentioned. Some of the prop metal used for the mechs in the final battle had some copper corrosion on it, which made the crew have to painstakingly scrape the corrosion off of the affected pieces of metal before reassembling the mechs, a procedure which the crew nicknamed "the Blue Harvest" which led to the working title of the film being Blue Harvest, which was also the working title of the original Star Wars from 1977.

Now someone might read that and say ‘duh of course it worked’ but at the time any single one of those wouldn’t have worked in big tentpole films. Studios didn’t believe in it and directors consistently screwed them up. The Wachowskis brewed up a perfect storm that paved the way for modern films.

There are massive problems with the sequels and they dropped the ball in some regards when it comes to pacing and characterization of many of the side characters. For me, the Matrix Trilogy is rather a "unified whole" than a "sum of three unequal parts": I don't really separate these movies in my mind. It's actually my favorite movie Trilogy.

My love for these movies are immense, so it brings me great joy to see so many people talking about them. In my opinion, the sequels deserve way more love than they get. Mostly because they actually added to the overarching story instead of just being action packed cashgrabs that were just rehashes of the first movie. In any other context, movies would be shunned for that and the Matrix sequels for some reason are shunned for doing the opposite, which is unfortunate.

On top of that all of those scenes and a lot of that additions to the plot is given to us by characters we don’t like and or care about to begin with.

@@sergiomendoza4850 I can respect that, although I didn't personally find the expositional seems to be confusing I can see how it can be a turn-off for some people. The sequels are definitely not perfect, at points the dialogue can be a little pretentious and some characters definitely could have been flushed out more. But considering what they were able to do with a complicated premise like The Matrix and the fact that they actually took some time out to add to the lore and explain some of the themes and not just be another cash grab sequel, I think it is a testament to how ambitious the movies were and effort that was put into them. The biggest criticism for these movies is how different they are from the first one, but for me the differences are what made the movies memorable.

You know something that's always stuck me as funny about the, "Did Neo die. Is he alive?" ending of the movie. Is how no one ever points out the thing I noticed a long time ago in rewatching it once it came out on DVD. So the animatrix came out between reloaded and revolutions like around july-ish 03' I believe. and the final story in that movie "Matriculated" is one of Runners luring robots and jacking them into a low key matrix trap to make them find their humanity essentially.Once a robot comes out of the trap their eyes go from red to green. At the end of revolutions when the carrier (I don't know the proper name of that machine) drags Neo onto its back and it carries him away. It does a quick pan to the front of the machine and you see the machines, eyes are green. But I never hear anyone talk about this. Or how a rehabbed machine is the one that takes Neo away.

I really enjoyed them both on a recent rewatch, so much so that I’d happily watch them again. The big thing for me is the feel and general ambience and I think the sequels carried that over from the first films brilliantly. The boys mentioned it in the last one: the spooky antiqueness of the run down areas, lost splendour for long dead people who might never have existed. The Matrix itself is so eerily timeless and the whole Merovingian cycle fits it perfectly. Similarly, I like that the lore is kept fairly vague and that nobody has really kept track of real time, and the sequels build that into an almost Dark Soulsy sense of mystique and horror. Even Zion feels, and is, improbably ancient. They’re just great and most importantly they fit the first film very comfortably, after an initial disturbance from all the new faces. I loved pretty much every minute apart from the ropey cgi - next time I’m rewatching on DVD to smooth out the edges.

Outside of all the real life reasons/changes as to why the Matrix (changing it from processing power to battery power to make it easier for audiences at the time to understand), part of the reason the machines go through all the trouble with the simulation, or just don't get solar power from the sun above the clouds, is because the machines ultimately still care about humans to some degree. Alex suggested is it some retribution or torture for what humanity did to the machines but it's actually quite the opposite. They may look down upon us and some might outright despise us like Agent Smith, but ultimately the majority view humanity as their parents. And like for a lot of people who might have fucked up, abusive parents, you may hate them and what they did to you, but there's still some part of you that is still like, "Well they're still my parents." That's what we are to the machines. Their screwed up mom and dad. So while they could completely kill us off and just rely on solar energy above the clouds if they really wanted to, at the end of the day, they can't pull that trigger, they can't kill their parents. And they can't live with the idea of just leaving all of us in catatonic states, using our body as power, so that's whey they created the Matrix. That's why they went through multiple iterations, and the first one was them trying to give us a perfect world, which failed. They created the nightmare world after that not because they hated us, but because the first one failed and they thought, "Oh, maybe humanity prefers this." They were still trying to do right by us to an extent. This complex and weird relationship between humanity and the machines is one of the cool things that the Matrix does imo that adds nuance to it that separates it from more typical man vs machine, black and white, good versus evil sci fi stories.

I’m still trying to figure out how Resurrections is going to go. Somehow the one guy who actually survived Revolutions (Morpheus) wasn’t even asked to be in it.

The King of Limbs (2011) is generally underrated and misunderstood as an album.

I think that album is really good. It just works better live. Case in point: The King of Limbs Live From The Basement.

The funny thing is that the human body takes more energy in then it gives out. Especially when you realize to that the human body gives out more energy when it’s happy not when it’s sad. These things were not put into account at all when making this movie and even Guy as someone who is not a doctor understand this fact. Not to mention in the late 90s and early 2000s, we were not stupid even as kids, we realized parallel processing. This could have been used instead of the whole humans generating energy thing which is just absolute bollocks. I was in my teens when the first matrix came out and even I understood that it would’ve been much better to say humans act like individual cores for the machines so they could be having extra processing power to, I don’t know, take over the universe or something hell even my mother, came up with the theory that people could’ve been just studied because the machines were curious about human behavior and so they put them into the matrix so they could study them and make sense of this strange creatures. Even if it came at the cost of how much energy they would have to put into them.

I can’t believe james came around to the matrix sequels. I know they are flawed but it’s a great trilogy compared to most.

on the animatrix is explained your question about the mech suits used on zion: (why they dont have some sort of cover on them to protect the humans) on the first time zion was destroyed, the centinels rip out all the protection (they look like the mech suit the evil guy uses on the ending of avatar when tries to kill the main character with the huge ass giant mech blade one on one) as well as the humans on it. ripping only the torso leaving the legs and arms tight to the safety features. once zion people retake the city, they took the bare bones of the mech suits and fix the ones that could be started up again, never knowing (or having the skills to) restore the "egg" metal shape they had. witch would be stupid since the centinels would rip them out clean.

I mean, in his defense, you can't use Jiujitsu on someone who is singing fake plastic trees, Exit song, creep or Karma Police. You just stand there and listen to the majesty.

Do an episode on The Matrix Comics, they're probably free online somewhere still. I love this series! The Matrix that is, not Caravan of Garbage... but also Caravan of Garbage, it's great! But I think the Matrix is a bit better overall.

I really love this trilogy, it was always one of my favourites as a teenager and still is. The Animatrix is absolutely brilliant too, definitely cover that!

I loved this whole trilogy as a kid because the action and effects blew me away. As an adult I've definitely developed an appreciation for the ideas and themes the Wachowskis brought to this concept and think for the most part they pull it off! It doesnt' all work but as a three-act epic story its very entertaining and feels fresh!
