The Matrix 4 Is A Dumpster Fire! - Spoiler Rant

Ойын-сауық

#Matrix4 #Spoilers
The Matrix Resurrections was remarkably awful. These Hollywood soft-reboots are getting really miserable to watch. I didn't think The Matrix would fall into this category but unfortunately I was wrong. Once again, we have another fantastic property killed by a studio too greedy to leave well-enough alone. The Matrix: Rebooted is back and worse than ever. It barely builds off the past foundation and instead opts to tell the same story again but with far worse results. Neo once again needs to wake up. Neo once again has to train. Neo once again visits the same locals from the original film and the movie ends on an all too familiar note. One with a slight twist that adds nothing of value to the franchise. Yet, for all the similarities and constant callbacks, the movie manages to be different in all the worst ways. Gone are the intimidating agents. Gone is the fantastic Agent Smith or even a major threat at all. Gone is the origin Morpheus, played perfectly by Lawrence Fishburne. Zero attitude. The action is a shadow of its former self. Choreography is completely gone. The cool music of the trilogy is missing. The interesting, deep messaging is replaced by surface-level meta humor. The Matrix Resurrections should have stayed sleeping, as this 4th installment absolutely kills the franchise.

Honestly, there was also gaps In the storyline. One of the biggest for me personally was toward the end when Neo and Trinity declare they are to create their own Matrix. Someone tell me how this works in the plotline? Are they going to magically become architects and change the coding of the Matrix against the ideology that of the original films that they needed to free people from the slavery of the Machines? Or create an entire new code for the Matrix that serves no purpose and literally doesn't add up no matter which way you look at it. Seriously, I hope someone tells me I'm wrong because I hated this ending. Had me feeling like "Is that it?"

Also, seeing Smith in loafers without socks wearing ray bands hurt my soul. They did him so dirty. Between the tropes, the feminization of many of the male characters, the infernal super human strength of Bugs (who was the Matrix version of Rey from the Last Jedi, being able to do in the first few minutes what it took Neo almost an entire movie to learn) and the glorification of Trinity, I stopped this movie so many times, I’m glad I watched it via HBOMax because boy I would’ve thrown my popcorn in the theatre. Don’t get me wrong, I had no problem with Trinity gaining her powers but to fly at the most important time when Neo was literally stopping 50 cal rounds from helicopters and falling bot bombs with force fields I was like … bruh! It’s like Wachowski’s built a franchise of red cups stacked them beautifully then undid it just as quickly for the Guinness Book of Records. Ugh. I was disappointed!

You mirrored my thoughts on the film pretty on the nose. There were some interesting concepts brought up that could have been a good basis for the fourth film, like the machines at war with each other and working with humans. How much cooler would it be to see that process and then have the machines find Neo and Trinity are alive and Naobi sends Bugs in to get them out or goes in herself. What happens when all the pods open at once and the machines lose their power source? WB hit me up and I'll write you a better script. So much wasted potential here. Hell, you could have kept Neo and Trinity dead but loaded into the Matrix and had them get those nanite bodies for the first time. Super cool. This script needed several more rounds of revision to get at the heart of some of these ideas. How about getting to know Trinity's fake family so her choice means something at the end? You know, put some emotion into it? -__-

Sharing some of it with machines would be no trouble at all. Which brings the question why the machines couldn't just use the same power source. Or nuclear. Or burned all the food they would otherwise give humans. Do rivers and oceans still exist ? Use those. Wind ? Or they could have even used high altitude solar stations - the sun still shines and the machines can fly. Or build a fricking high tower. Anything.

How can a sequel that comes 18 years later feel so rushed and thrown together? I totally forgot Christine Ricci was in this for a second. Either she's there for a sequel, or they cut out all her other scenes. So dumb and jarring. I'm really glad I watched this at home, because it kept me from having the visceral hatred that people who saw it in the theaters had. I would have paid triple the money to see Hugo Weaving and Keanu Reeves as Work Colleagues in a sitcom where Smith continually annoys Neo by calling him Mr. Anderson Again and again. Or, at least they should have had Hugo Weaving come back. That would have made the scenes at least bearable.

I don't get the hate. Ive been a massive fan of the franchise for 20 years and I didn't have a problem with this film. After first viewing, thought it's "okay", after second viewing appreciated more ideas and understood more context. I think people are massively blinded by their own expectations. Of course it was going to be different. I happen to think they introduced many interesting ideas, had powerful scenes and the actors did spectacularly well. Oh well

The ultimate "hero shot" of Trinity realizing she could fly with a meek Neo dangling by her hand & with swelling heroic music! That was so ludicrously shot. You could tell the wire work on Trinity's back! It looked like they were dangling. The fight scenes were boring & amateurish. The running, I mean actual running, of the characters was like a jog; no where near how Trinity ran for her life at the start of Matrix-1. All the agents were like stormtroopers with their guns not hitting a simple target. The nostalgic scenes screamed of pandering nonsensical garbage after a point. The self-references got really obnoxious. The cinematography, transitions were so sub par. There was no script. What was the central conflict? Why is Neo back? Why should we care about getting Trin back? How did Tiffany/Trinity let go of her kids so easily. Shame on Tiff! LOL. The world & machines are at peace. So why the heck does the plot exists? Its a money grab. This looked like a made for tv garbage by failed film college students who wanted to make a Matrix remake & were funded by their rich doting uncle. Lana Wachowski should stay away from writing & directing. She has effectively shamed the name of Larry Wachowski. Edit 2: The fight sounds! The ahhs & oohs. Sounds people make while punching or getting punched. They were again so so bad. Sounded like they were just overlayed by a lazy editor. Goshdarnit! I hate this movie 😢😭 Edit: I should explain my comment on mocking Tiffany/Trinity for leaving her kids behind so easily. Of course, I know she realized they were not real & hence decided to leave them all for Neo. That is not my point. It is that, as audience, it was portrayed so haphazardly. Think about it. She is with her kids, her own kids, for like 14 something years. She might hate her husband but she loved her kids. Now, this Neo guy shows up & says the world is not real. Tiff goes back & plays the Matrix game (LOL). Bang! She then decides the world is not real, leaves her family & goes with Neo to be led to the "real world". This would otherwise be called schizophrenia ! (like Mal from Inception) It comes across as crazy. Weren't her emotions as a Mother real! They could have shown her struggling with the decision, shown how difficult it was for her to leave the kids even after knowing they weren't real & how she finally decided to let go. But it was horribly depicted. In the first movie, Neo was a loner & had no one. It was fairly easy for him to drink Morpheus' kool aid about the Matrix world but even then Neo struggled a lot before giving in. For Gods sake, even the matrix recycling programs who Neo met at the train station mobil ave in revolutions (Rama kandra & Kamala) had a hard time letting go of their purposeless program-daughter Sati. Wouldn't Tiffany? To gloss over that shows how bad the director is. Truly heartbreaking that she was one of the "he"s that created the visually unparalleled & philosophically stimulating Matrix-1 (also 2)

The Matrix Trilogy changed the world of cinema, it is a masterpiece. The Matrix Resurrections changed nothing... not.. one... thing....! Nothing revolutionary, nothing special, nothing mind bending, nothing cool looking, nothing bad ass, nothing at all. Just plain stupid low budget "fan made video". The lack of green color palet in Matrix scenes is just criminal, it's like soul of the matrix got deleted, purged. I dont like it. For me The Matrix ended at Revolutions in 2003. And somehow CGI looks way worse than in trilogy 18 years ago. How can you f*ck up movie like this? First Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Terminator and now The Matrix... all went to shit. Its a tragedy.

@CoherentRamblings Yeah, I guess the problem is that the immersion / realism of these great films/shows is sort of ruined when later films cheapen it and make you see through it. Now you see them for what they are: actors saying made up lines in a made up environment. All the magic is gone. At the same time, that's what they've always been. Matrix 1, Empire Strikes Back, GoT 1-4, etc.... should be still marveled at because of how they were SO good that they made us get completely immersed into their story. They created magic out of nothing. This peak of filmmaking is extremely hard, and if you recognize that, you can accept that it is almost impossible to maintain that consistency.

  • @SilverSonic2099

    @SilverSonic2099

    2 жыл бұрын

@CoherentRamblings I completely understand what you are saying. Luckily for me I didn't watch Matrix 4, I stayed well away from the crap they call Star Trek these days and pretty much ignored the existence of stuff like Ghostbusters 2016, Terminator Salvation and all other movies/shows of their kind... I saw the signs from a distance and I know if I see them they will ruin the rest for me as well so I refuse to spend my money and my time on them. I may watch these rants/reviews from time to time just to see how much they messed it up but I refuse to let them sully the movies and franchises I like. And no, I will never give any of these movies and shows "a chance", and neither should you or anyone else. Even if we hate it and never buy the merchandizing they still see box office money and any sort of high ratings on streaming or tv as a big victory and will always keep shoving crap like this down our throats. The best thing to do, no, the ONLY thing to do is ignore it completely, wait for reviewers like Adam here to give us a real unbiased honest opinion on the movies/shows, don't give in to any sort of fake hype, listen to the word-of-mouth of the idiots that went to see it first to see if they have ruined it or not and only then maybe(and that is a big MAYBE) give them some money if they did indeed treated the fans and franchise with respect. Remember that the guys on top want money, they don't care about the "message", if these movies start to fail miserably and continue to fail and lose them money eventually they will be sick of these weirdos losing them money and will have no other choice but to stop giving them money to ruin our favourite franchises.

I've posted what I thought of it on other peoples videos this is what I put. Watched it and here are some Issues: 1. Lack of mystery. 2. Religious themes non existent. but 1,2,3 did which made it going down a rabbit hole more exciting. Just like in John Wick. 3. To up to date especially showing people with masks on because of the pandemic we are still in. 4. Pacing of the movie was slightly off. 5. The operator in the matrix but not plugged in is confusing. 6. The robotic bird like creature felt too comical. 7. The acting felt forced in some scenes. 8. Trinity kicking the analysts ass instead of it being both Neo and trinity equally kicking the analysts ass, which would have been better. 9. Neo looked like a bond Villain with the cat, you'll know what I mean when you see the movie. 10. Woke. 11. Mentioning Warner Brothers. 12. Some parts of the movie being a bit cringe. 13. Special affects felt like a downgrade from the special affects from 1,2 and 3. 14. Felt like the movie was spliced a bit too much is some parts of the movie. 15. Merv needed more time in the movie. 16. Felt like a parody of the first and second and third Matrix films, like Space balls parody of Star Wars. 17. Lack of people shown in i0 18. Felt too much like a fairy tale where no one dies and everyone is ok, you'll know what i mean by that when you see the movie. 19. Not as good as 1,2 and 3 and John Wick 1,2 and 3. and Lack of guns used by Neo and Trinity 20. Made Neo near the end like a Cheerleader / Sidekick. 21. Felt rushed. 22. The fights weren't that good some of it was okish but could have been dramatically improved. 23. They should have done a Part 1 and Part 2, to flesh the movie out like Reloaded and revolutions. Also like in the John Wick movies. If anyone disagrees with what I have written, I welcome their constructive criticisms. 👍

You know the worst part about it was just how much of the movie felt like a mean-spirited mockery of the original movies. They even come out and said that it was a bad idea, but Warner was going to do it whether they were involved or not. I agree with you about the Merovingian being a summary of the tone of the movie, going from a sophisticated individual to a crazy hobo, going full boomer about new technology and Facebook, interspersed with "peepee" and "poopoo" to make the rant even less coherent. The new Morpheus was basically there to mock Laurence Fishburne's performance, and that's a real shame because the actor had a spark of charisma, but it was wasted by constantly reminding us he's no Laurence Fishburne. Smith was wrong. Too much swagger, and not enough of the desire for purpose and to be complete that drove him to absorb every resident of the Matrix. The more I think about the Bugs thing, the more it annoys me. Her name is a software term, but they just had to let us in on the fact that they named her after Bugs Bunny. God damn it. I guess the best way to put it is that the original film was about hackers, but this one was written by hacks. Also thank you. They really did waste Christina Ricci. The only moment I smiled in the whole god damn movie was when she showed up, and then she was gone. A bad parody is exactly what I said. They took everything about the originals and made them a joke.

This movie broke me on the Wachowskis, I saw Jupiter Ascending day one, I went to Speed Racer in IMAX! I watched all three Matrixes front row because it was packed on opening night. My mom actually went to Reloaded with me and hated it and we argued the whole way home about filmwriting and plot when i was 16, because as an impressionable teen I walked away with a head full of theories and my mom just thought "damn that sucked." This movie has made me question if the Wachowskis even were the creative directors behind The Matrix or if they were directors for hire fixing a script written for Will Smith. I'm thinking that might be the case because this film showed that they didn't even understand some concepts from the first film like Deja Vu. Lana also failed to deliver a coherent immersive film, the world-building in this film was the weakest I've seen yet from Lana. For example, the ship is landing at the dock, they show one snippet of the bay and the guards waiting for them. It directly cuts from that transition shot to another transition shot of them walking into Naobi's office. George Lucas knew this in 1977, if you have a model ship landing on a miniature set, if you animate the door opening and then film practically the actors walking out you immediately marry the CG and Practical shots and immerse the audience. Now watch Matrix 4 you'll notice it's missing from the entire film even in basic shots they could establish. I thought at first this was intentional and going to be some artistic way of portraying being inside the matrix, disconnected from the setting. but no. It was the whole film.

My expectations were low enough that I actually enjoyed it more than Matrix Revolutions

The Director really dropped the balls on this one. Pun intended

The more time goes by, the more I wish I took the blue pill and didn’t see how far Lana Wachowski took the rabbit hole. I would rather have not followed it to a sewer.

Its fine if people dont like it. But there are those who did enjoy it. Sure the movie has some shortcomings, but its aovie you watch several times. I thought its better than the sequels, not as good as the original

The thing I hate about people that like this movie is that they all say that those of us who don’t like it just aren’t thinking deep enough. No, we just truly wanted to see the things that made us fall in love with the original, it’s just that simple and they completely removed all of it.
