I'm 70 and think it's brilliant!!

Gotta love Rob Newman managing to make David Baddiel laugh in the middle of a sketch, he always came up with the best put-downs!

I wish they'd bring this show out on DVD it was brilliant! xx

The thing is at my age I really want to hear his lecture about the Crimean War

Haven't seen this in 20 years, Still funny 20 years later... It's not often comedy sketches age so well. Brilliant.

If you bought the "from the mary whitehouse experience" VHS 15 years ago they gave you a free audio cassette tape of Rob Newman and David Baddiel improvising this sketch the first time around. They just couldn't stop laughing all the way though it. "I saw your mum.... coming out of the VD clinic"

i love the way he dabs his finger, turns the page... "that's you, that is." perfect comedy timing!!! you know exactly what's coming but it still cracks me up every time.

8:35 "haircut!" Classic. Every British school kid who ever had a haircut, which is almost certainly most of them.

Clever because they genuinely captured the way kids talked at that time, and maybe still do.

See that bit of flob? Brilliant. Hard to believe this was half a lifetime ago now.

The finger-lick was priceless. Comic timing at its best.

I can't believe this was origionally aired 20 years ago. It doens't seem 5 minutes ago. Love it

Oh man, thanx for posting this clip. I've been telling my teenage son about it for ages. His mum & i used to say it to each other all the time.. "See that lump of dog-shit on the path? That's your lunch that is!" We're not 2gether anymore for sum reason. Anyway, we both had a good laugh watching it, best 9:32 mins on KZread! & for any Yanks who 'just don't get it'.. See that George Bush? That's you that is!!

I've been looking for this for literally years, but it seems never to have been released on either VHS or DVD. Many thanks, StadiumHot; but I do think it was right for them to quit whilst they were still on top. Less can often be more!

Mitchell and Webb were still at school when this was aired and therefore grew up on this brand of humour.

I saw them live at Glastonbury 92. They were even funnier than on the show.

"idea of the sketch" - It's nothing deep, just the idea of respectable and educated professors/historians bickering like playground children alone, makes me giggle.

He stays in character. He plays FJ Lewis completely dead pan so his childishness is all the more funnier. Baddiel doesn't really act, he's just Baddiel in old man costume and make-up, theres no character he has crafted. Newman puts far more effort in, and I feel he is what truly makes it funny.

If you already know this, sorry in advance for the wasted words, but the shows name was kinda a kick in the teeth towards Mary Whitehouse, they nearly got sued by her...

And a trillion KZread comment insults were inspired.

Perhaps, by "should get the rights of this" what Daddy Pobbin's trying to suggest is that, since they do similar comedy, Mitchell & Webb should endeavour to acquire the rights to perform these sketches, and perhaps continue the series with new ones...? In the absence of Newman & Baddiel ever working again? Y'know, like Paul Merton doing Hancock and the new Yes, Minister? Have the new Rob & David re-awaken work by the old Rob & David? Maybe THAT's what he's driving at, hmm? Just my guess anyway.
