@mzyeni, Maria Collins style of teaching have been implemented in schools across the nation for over forty years by former President George H. Bush's wife, mostly in majority of all/predominantly white schools, high schools, & colleges. Mrs. Maria Collins teaching style is the national standard for teachers.

@@donatapowell8143 Marva Collins should have an elementary school named after her, a middle, a high school, and a college student center, library, and a street named in her honor, that's how important and impact full her dedication to teaching the black.community was. Marva's style of teaching needs to be implemented by more black teachers who are teachers. I mean start their own school together.

It is a beautifully produced movie and Marva Collins's story and achievements are outstanding. Since years I am trying to get humane programs into schools. It is totally ignored, sadly. I don't know who else to turn to! I am writing letters to the United nations, our Governor, the Senators, the US president. I did not receive a response, yet. I continue against the odds that appear enormous. Humanity is at great risk and I do all I can to bring awareness about human values. I write books, do workshops and the tipping point will come. I am certain. Much love to all ❤ Sincerely, Daisy

I love Marva Collins, for the work she did, and Cicely Tyson for how she beautifully played her. They should give Marva Collins, Teacher of the Century. How she took those kids the school system labeled hopeless, and brought them success, even showing they were 5years ahead of their school age, in testing. She did remarkable work, and is a role model, to me. A very good one.

I wish I would have had a teacher like her. It's ridiculous where I live in California. Children at all grade levels are failing, can't read, write, or do math. These people aren't stupid, it's the bureaucrats, the regulations. Mrs. Collis was right, so why can't we incorporate what she has done into all public schools? Don't tell me they need more money, she taught these children on a shoe string, they learned, while increasing the kids confidence.

What's rather sad is that (according to Wikipedia) "Collins and her daughter ran the school for more than 30 years until it closed in 2008 due to lack of sufficient enrollment and funding." I'd like to thank the owner of this KZread channel for uploading this movie thereby making it publicly accessible. I think I needed to hear the quote at 12:25 in the wee hours of the morning: “Quitting did not build the Sears tower. Nor did it write the Magna Carta.”

I REMEMBER watching this when I was very young on television...I couldn't have been more than 4 at the time and yet it stuck with me and I remembered who Mrs. Marva Collins was. Now all these years later, I work at a museum and my partner teaches in high school. Mrs. Collins's story is still part of why I love educating and I hope that she knows what a difference she made.

Education Options TV Oh I'm familiar with her story and her work, :) I've even told people who are themselves educators on just how important it is that you must educate while giving students a sense of purpose. That happens to be the original plan that even American Founding Father Dr. Benjamin Rush, who is considered, "The Father of American Education," as he advocated on just how education should be implemented. And I say this as someone who wasn't taught that during my school years.

What an amazing teacher. This reminds me of so many teachers today who have left the public school and started free or inexpensive homeschool coops, along with the parents who have also pulled their kids out of public schools to homeschool. So many of us thought we were supposed to bring public school home, but instead we learned to teach how our kids do their best learning, along with the teachers who left the school system, and we learned that we did not have to have a degree to teach children. We just had to love our children, teach them that anything is possible, and learn with them.

I truly respect the love Mrs.Collins has for teaching and her students. Unlike my principal who says she is running a business and doesn’t show love to the children or patience. The schools are loosing good teachers because of politics. We love to teach and our children come first, just like Marva Collins. We leave because the system does not honor or support that love.

Takeaways of the amazing Teaching Formula Attitude: 1. Love the kids 2. Love the kids so much that you want them to be well-educated 3. Love the kids so much that you want them to have good well-being and faith 4. Kids makes no mistakes, they try Methods: 1. Instill faith into kids - "I am the most important kid in the world" - "The most important moment is now" - "I am going to change tomorrow, by making good use of today" - "I am not a local kid; I am a citizen of the world" 2. Learn from Great Classics and Heros 3. Understand their emotions - eg. "You don't look bored, you look angry; When I am angry, I would cry too." - eg. "I am sometimes scared too; When I am scared, I remind me of the saying..." Techniques 1. Learn English with Phonics 2. Experimental/Situational Learning eg. Going to Chicago Exchange eg. Learn about Venice Merchant, then do Maths, Venice Geographic location, Gold Price, Spelling of words, etc. Review of the example: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mH9rqbeMebasmrw.html 38:40-56:30
