Death Watch can be seen in the Clone Wars removing their helmets occasionally. Perhaps, Children of the Watch, are more of a fundamentalists splinter group from Mandalore, which don't remove their helmets. It's more of differences in practices in their ideology.

I hate to admit, but I screamed "THE NIGHT OWLS!" when I saw those blue Mandalorian suits. So happy to see a link to the animated Star Wars Universe, very cool!

Bo Katan first appeared in Clone Wars as a member of Death Watch (a paramilitary group that wants to return mandalore to the warrior ways) her "squad" was called the Night Owls (thats where her helmet painting comes from). She was the sister of Dutchess Satine who ruled mandalore at the time. When Maul killed the leader of Death Watch and rules mandalore Bo joins the Mandalore resistance against Maul. During that period she meets Ahsoka who helps her defeat Maul and free Mandalore during the Siege of Mandalore (Clone Wars S7 E9-12). The next time we see her is in Rebels when she opposes the empire. The Heiress probably referes to both the fact that she was as far as we know the last "legit" owner of the darksaber as well as her being Duchess Satines sister who was the last "legit" ruler of Mandalore (chosen by the people not taken/given power by force) I hope that very short summary helps fill your lore gaps :)

Bo Katan was never in doubt that she would rock in live action. The character was made for Katee Sackhoff, quite literally. Ashoka is a much bigger question mark IMO. New actress and crazy makeup. Here's to hoping it works out.

Amazing episode! I loved baby Yoda's story arc too. He was taught how to "respect" life and not see everything as food. Besides, he is still a baby and he does need tutoring. Amazing stuff!

The big thing about Boba Fett is, he also knows about the Jedi, was there on Kamino when Obi-Wan arrived to tour the facility, and was there on Geonosis when Mace decapitated Jango. He has also had encounters with them and the Clones throughout the Clone Wars. While he certainly probably doesn't have the close ties to them that Bo Katan has with Ahsoka, Boba definitely knows a lot about their culture.

Nikki: "I want him to say Dadda so bad!" Steve: " I want him to do something other than look cute.." Bahaha I agree with both statements😂 classic guys ✌

One thing I find interesting about the Mandalorian is that it takes Star Wars back to its "serial" roots. Serials were short episodic films from the silent era to the 50s like Flash Gordon. Each story was self contained but had an overarching arch that was designed to keep people coming back to the theater frequently. George Lucas has often cited serials as a big influence on Star Wars.

The backlash about Ahsoka in the Clone Wars was only in the very beginning. After we got to know her more and see her evolve as a character across the show, she quickly became a fan favorite and Rebels helped with that, of course. I would really recommend you to watch the Clone Wars (in chronological order, if you haven't already), I would love to see your reactions. I loved Ahsoka in it, so seeing more of her is always nice. There's also a lot of interesting stuff about Mandalore and the Mandalorians in Clone Wars that you’re missing out on. The Clone Wars is also a little bit darker and a bit more adult at times, than Rebels is IMO. By the way, Ahsoka’s "original" lightsaber color was green. Over time it changed to blue and then she got new white ones.

@@darrenlally9386 the tv show is pretty much chronological, there is a bit of a skip between attack of the clones and the beginning of clone wars but it takes you literally right up to order 66

If you didn't know, the actor playing Bo Katan is the one that voiced Bo from Rebels. She was also Starbuck in the Battlestar Galactica reboot.

Even for those who have never seen clone wars, I think they introduced bo-katan very well to newcomers. Hope they do the same with ashoka

The whole part with the Mandalorians was done very well - the fighting was great and the delivery demonstrated the superiority of them - like it should be. This is actualy great and the fighting from the female mandalorians looked even better than from the others.

You gotta think of the Mandalorians like the Spartans. Their entire culture is dedicated to combat, competition, survival of the fittest (pretty much like the Klingons in "Star Trek") so they train their entire lives to fight. The Stormtroopers are just regular grunts... pretty much cannon fodder when it comes to taking on Mandalorians. Especially Bo-Katan who is a battle hardened veteran who fought the Republic, the Empire, the Jedi and the Sith. The Mandalorians are not invincible, they hold their own even against the Jedi (think Obi-Wan versus Jango Fett in "Attack Of The Clones".)...but their skills in battle are second to none, so to the average being in the Galaxy they are legendary. That's why Bo-Katan says "Imagine what a division of us can do with these weapons..."

What’s even more awesome about the Bo Katan reveal is that, I believe, they got the same actress who voiced her in Clone Wars and Rebels to play her in live-action.

My fav episode of The Mandalorian to date. Bo Katarn was realised 100% in live action, absolutely amazing. Also Ahsoka was only disliked in the Clone Wars movie and season 1. She had so much growth within the series and in Rebels to the point where she's basically part of the iconic characters with Luke, Han, Leia and Vader imo.

10:05 It looks like an ancient Spartan hoplite helmet (bit like in 300, but with smoother edges). Love it.

@@st_orlie I thought about the same thing, but Rosario Dwanson, the actress who will play Ahsoka, is personally more attached to an Ahsoka in her 45s, in addition to the physical resemblance, with Ahsoka's characteristic thick lips. I would love to see Ashley play Ahsoka once more, at least her voice in a flashback, but understanding why she won't appear. Besides, Ashley gave a great voice acting for Ahsoka, and she will forever be in our hearts. Definitely my favorite female character of all series, and in the top 3 of SW characters, she is great.

When she took off the helmet all I could think was 'Crap, not HER'. I really could have dealt with them casting Starbuck as a female, just not her. At least not the way she played it. All I see when I see her face is an obnoxiously over-emotional brat crying her eyes out every episode. Worst Starbuck EVER. Honestly if the show wasn't so good, I would just switch it off and be done with it. Maybe if she doesn't do the brat cry-baby routine in this I can give her another shot. We'll see.

Bo Kattan and Yoda interacted quite a bit in Clone Wars -- I think part of her character is she wasn't gonna tip that off to Mando because she realized how important Baby Yoda is. It seemed like there was a moment of recognition there, when she first saw Baby Yoda, but also understood (generally) who Mando is and didn't want to give up too much information. I reckon that's why it's really important that she actually names Ahsoka, story-wise -- she didn't trust him at first, and vice-versa, but they proved themselves to each other, so she is okay sharing the name.

I was digging that mando techno, that played when they were on screen 😂

I had chills when Bo-Katan popped up...my Clone Wars Heart was sent over the moon. Fantastic show..and FYI they are already setting up for filming Season 3...the cast started working out a couple of months ago, had fittings two weeks ago, and the Brawler Mando (stuntman for Mando) has been in the studio preparing stunts for a few weeks now. Yay!!! Great reactor video, yall. Thank you!

When I heard the words Ahsoka Tano, I clapped my hands so hard and released the biggest Fanboy squeal

"Ahsoka's not really a Jedi". Depends how you look at it. She's no more or less a Jedi at this point in the story than Luke would be if we're going by how "official" things are at this point in the timeline. In terms of her past? Yes, Ahsoka was a Jedi Padawan. Pretty sure at the end of Season 7 she had just been knighted too. That was about 25 years before the events of this series give or take a year.

Actually, she was offered the option of having her life experience count as her "trials" and being knighted, but she decided to leave the Order instead. She had given up on Jedi as they were constituted at the end of the Clone Wars and even contemplated joining with Darth Maul to create "something new". Or at least she said she would, but then Maul ... did Maul. I don't know if she was just leading him on for information.

I remember freaking out so much when I heard Katee’s voice. Aside from Luke this was the biggest live action surprise reveal for me, though I heard a rumor the night before. I love her so much and it all started here. And yes I had seen the animated stuff by this point. I feel like I’m one of the only ones who loved her arc in s3 despite its other problems. This remains one of my favorite Mando episodes.

Bo Katan leader of the Night Owls a Mandalorian special forces unit. Bo Katan and her sister are pretty much Mandalorian royalty. The Deathwatch are the guys that saved Mando as a child, they are pretty a splinter group that worked with the Sith.

I cried at the end when Bo mentioned Ahsoka because Ahsoka is one of my favorite clone wars characters. I'm so happy we got a live action Bo Katan it was so cool to see her in action. Oh and I got my own baby yoda he was watching the episode with me :).

I officially experienced my first nerdgasm today watching this episode of the Mandalorian. I newer thought I would be one to geek out so much. That was some awsome shit! This is the Way!

That episode was just filled to the brim with fan service. I was also not expecting them to move the story along this much this quickly in the season. I was really expecting them draw the search for Mandalorians out for most of the season. This was great. I also think it sets up things we'll no doubt see later on in the series. I wonder how long it will take for them to find Ahsoka.

It wasn't the last of Frog species, just the last chance of those two to have children. So the crime is... Slightly less horrific? Slightly?

Bo katan never had an on screen one on one interaction with yoda. No way to know if she even knew what he look like, but he was a very famous person in a time when they both were fighting in a galaxy wide conflict

If you think about it, Mr & Ms frog, are an invasive species on Trask. By thinning out the eggs, Baby Yoda, is actually being environmentally friendly! Remember what happened to Australia, when Bart Simpson introduced frogs?

Not me rewatching this at work in September 2023 and cackling as quietly as I can at Bo and co being awesome and kicking ass. Particularly in that intro scene. Din hella owes them after s3.

That actress who plays Bo-Katan is Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica "Starbuck" one of the main characters. I just finished watching that show, what a big coincidence. She also was in Riddick 2013. In my opinion, she is the perfect actress to play a female Mandalorian, it suits her very well. DOPE :)

I was so happy to see Bo-Katan Kryze in live-action, and when she told Mando to seek out Ahsoka Tano, I just exploded with happiness.

Katee Sackhoff, the actress playing, Bo Katan, also did her voice in Rebels! So awesome!

Can we just acknowledge how amazing the music in this show is? The music for the Night Owls/Bo was so cool! And I got chills when we heard Mof’s theme again. This episode was freaking amazing! I recognized Bo’s voice when she said take my hand and lost my mind. Those mandos mean business! I also freaked out when we saw Mof Gideon again and when Ahsoka was mentioned. This episode had almost everything I could want from this show. Especially Mandolorians. I agree that that they are some of the most entertaining characters to watch fight. I bet knowing this show that next week will be another transition episode. As long as it moves the story along a bit or has some cool scenes I’ll be happy. Even him doing some research on the jedi or a bit more of Bo’s quest would be cool.

Jango Fett was Mandalorian in the EU until Lucas decided he wasn't during the Clone Wars episode where the Mandalorian Prime Minister said he wasn't one. If they want to get around that and ignore Lucas' take on it, which I doubt Filoni would do, they could say the Prime Minister, who was a villain, was lying in order to protect the Mandalorian reputation and/or due to some prejudice against Jango himself or his specific people.

Absolutely my favorite episode, to date. I was in happy tears, by the end credits. Also, brilliant directing by Bryce Dallas Howard again.

This is the main issue I have with the whole "stormtroopers can't aim" thing, is that they actually can shoot decently well for shooting from the hip in the new hope both vader and leia says that they let them escape on purpose and were being tracked you do have to remember they did kill the entire crew of Tantive IV and echo base

@@tezlaactual6582 Actually I just finished watching episode 4 and I think we should create a counter of how many times Stormtroopers hit our main hero :) Because counting just from ep. 3 and 4 it was quite a lot. If it wasn't for Beskar he would have been dead several times over. And overall Empire was pretty badass in this last episode so Im not mad anymore :D

By far my most favorite episode. Probably going to re-watch this more than a few times.

I've never seen Steven get so emotional. So awesome. =)

Let's start a movement to have the Child named Yeet in honor of how much the bad guys throw him around.

There is a few jedi in this Timeline. Luke Skywalker and his sister, Princess Leia who has by now been trained. The Skywalkers did train some padawans though I'm not sure where exactly the Mandalorian time is compared to the Skywalkers. That being said I know the story wasn't going there, but I did want to point that out. Also Ahsoka was Anakin's padawan even though Anakin wasn't a full fledge Jedi, she was very aware of Master Yoda.

So happy to hear Nikki and Steven do the "Like a glove." comment. I said that too!

Is he the greatest warrior? Perhaps. Greatest Dad? Yes. He understands what will happen to his child if he fails and thus he knows he can not fail. And it is amazing to see Katie Sackoff in Star Wars is amazing, because she is a fan. Her dad is a huge fan, and she was raised in our 'verse. She was cast to voice a character who face was already modelled on her. I hope she is able to keep her armour or at least her helmet when filming is complete.

We never saw Yoda interact with Bo Katan or even with any Mandalorians. Not to say Bo might not have heard of him or seen him in a holovid but they never personally interacted. The only Jedi she had contact that we saw were was Obi-wan, Ahsoka, and Anakin.

This show keeps getting better and better.
