The puppet looks exactly like that. The only time they use CG is when it's doing stuff like walking where you can see it's whole body.

Well they also most likely enhance it in the eyes as this is what the Jim Henson company did with all of their puppets in their new Netflix series because it makes for more lifelike puppets

@@procrastinator547 Those puppets on that Netflix series look so clumsy trembling all the time, they definitely don't look this real, weird that they didn't make them with CG considering that the series is full of CG scenarios and colorful color grading, it already looks artificial and kinda fake because of that.

Gabagu interesting that’s the first I’ve heard of someone who disliked it. I thought it looked wonderful for puppet integration. Ya the gelfing don’t look the best but that goes along with the fact that they need to match how they looked in the original movie. The skeksis and the podlings looked fantastic however. But they did lots of test footage before hand and were originally going to go with entirely cgi because of what you said the vibrant colors and what not and they wanted them to be more animated, but creating cgi from nothing to interact in a 3D space still doesn’t look good and everyone found it jarring and bad. Then from there it snowballed to the point where pretty much every scene you see is an actual set, down to fake plants and grass etc. then they add in a little cg to blend colors in, add eye tracking/blinking, and just enhance what’s already there.

procrastinator547 actually the eyes aren’t CG, when people say puppet it’s actually a mechanical puppet, so basically a remote control robot. It’s almost all in camera except for moments of movement like walking and when it crawled out of the crib in an earlier episode behind the Mando in the ship. An on set video was posted of the puppet and it showed the inner parts of the eyes moving so that’s part of the animatronics.

It’s why clients give additional information, like Race, Age, Last point of origin, etc. since the guild gave everyone tracking fobs, a bounty hunter is bound to randomly come across them from time to time, and the better bounty hunters will be smart enough to track them.

Mandalorian is a culture and religion/belief system, not just a race. The original race who started it all, and accepted any race, sex, anything, as long as you had a warrior's spirit and followed the way, is theorized to be extinct now, but The Way endures.

Also more lore: Mandalorians are the only known people in the current canon to have ever stood toe to toe with Jedi and Sith, holding off their empires and republics, and even winning battles and wars against them.(Beskar Armor can stop lightsabers!) The Jedi feared them so much they took the entire republic army and pre-emptively attack them trying to destroy the entire race, as they feared if they grew to their old strength they would take over the galaxy. Then the empire came and it seems they may have done something very similar.

On droids- They do have agency so to completely control one a restraining bolt or override of some kind is needed. If a droid is too rebellious an owner can also scrap them. The cat is a Loth Cat shown in the Rebels animated series and I think a related cat was in a couple of old school video games. I was so excited to see one in a live-action show.

Most droids in Star Wars are sentient, but have either restrictive programming or "restraining bolts" (that help control or restrict their behavior, Luke famously removes R2-D2's in IV and that lets him run off on his own). A lot of droids can operate on their own a bit if allowed but society generally considers them a 'lesser class', even though they have advanced AI for the most part (some don't and are more likely pets, like the 'mouse droids' you see on the Death Star). Sidebar, TIE stands for 'twin ion engine' (one of the reasons they're so fast, AT-ST stands for All-Terrain Scout Transport and AT-AT stands for All-Terrain Armored Transport.

If they're military service ships they probably wouldn't have keys just like some real life military trucks, so any soldier could jump in and take off. That being said, in a universe with verbal passcodes and biometrics you would think he would have installed that since he's the only person flying and it's his personal custom ship. I had that same complaint with his weapons locker that at least three different people have opened up within 5 seconds.

And then we all let out a long breath when we see that its' Gina's character who did the shooting. It's funny when you think about it afterwards. What are the odds that they would actually kill off baby yoda in such a way? It wouldn't happen. There is no chance in hell that they would ever do that to something that has instantly become a massive fan favorite. We all have an emotional connection to this fictional baby. It's crazy. lol There are 2 characters who we can be 100% certain will be safe at least for the vast majority of this series. And that is the Mandalorian and baby Yoda. They're not going anywhere.

just some sidenote: blasters in star wars are not lasers. they shoot contained heated plasma bolts. most handweapons are blasters, lasers are usually bigger and much more powerful.

The IG-88 unit we were introduced to in episode 1 is being paid and earning social status the same as any human or biological bounty hunter in the guild does. If he didn't have sentience, then he would be controlled by the guild and wouldn't be paid. They would just hae an entire army of IG-88's doing what they tell them to do and the money would go to someone else. There are simple worker droids who follow closely to whatever programmed task they have, but many of the main droids are as close to sentient AI as you'll get, like the IG droids, C3PO, R2-D2, BB8, etc. They generally will follow their masters bidding, but so do Storm Troopers and we don't question their sentience. And the droids we follow in the story have shown more personality and freedom to make choices than Storm Troopers do. We see C3PO, R2, and BB-8 improvising and having senses of curiosity and self-preservation all of the time. All living creatures have innate or learned programming, so I don't think that their initial programming really separates them from the biologically created beings in the story.

There is no CGI on that amazing puppet. Only for some scenes like when it has a frog in its mouth I assume. Favreau tweeted a video of it being viewed through a camera on set. You can't do that if there was CGI on it.

  • @alexkramerblogs

    @alexkramerblogs

    4 жыл бұрын

Seeing a view from in-camera isn't proof that there is no CGI on the puppet. But a vast majority of what we're seeing *is* the astounding puppetry that helps ground the character as a whole. Gives excellent lighting samples for CG artists to match on, and the actors can have more genuine reactions to having something in the scene. There are some systems used where the in-camera view has a compiled CG asset in it as well. The train scene in "Solo" had the train, surrounding, and even fly-by spaceships rendered in-camera, so the camera crew could track the CG elements in real time against the blue-screen room where the actors were as well. The Hobbit had something similar, and there are behind the scenes of Peter Jackson walking around the CG set via camera view and him getting 'lost' (to everyone else he was just in a blue room).

Nicholas, Actually George Lucas envisioned his story based on the principles of Seven Samurais plus others. He was working for some studios wanted to direct a SCIFI movie, but studios didn't green light movie. So, George written a script and shop it around to all studios All but one declined.... Lone studio is 20th Century Fox gave Lucas small amount of money to make the movie. Star Wars 1977 became a major hit as we known today led to most influential movie franchise in history.

Droids are programmed, but they're liable to develop a personality and quirks over time, which in turn will influence their decisions. This is why a lot of people in the Star Wars universe prefer to periodically wipe their droids' memory banks, basically returning them to 'factory settings'. They don't want their droids to have personalities because it can interfere with their level of efficiency. That and they simply view the droids as property and don't like them becoming more 'human'. Of course there are exceptions, like R2D2 and C3PO, who have both gone without having their memories wiped for so long that they've developed distinct personalities.

*Seraj* must listen to *Marketa* regarding the number of episodes in season 1. Especially when she speaks with such certainty. 😁 Back when the Mandalorian was spying on them using the thermal imager and listening device in his rifle, Herzog's character did refer to someone else that they seemed to be doing all this for. Adopted foundling? A foundling is a foundling. And _the foundlings are the future. This is the way._

16:26 this is foreshadowing but at this point I think I know what’s gonna happen in Latwr episodes. Mandalorian tells the baby or someoen with the baby to go hide during a shoot out. During fight baby wanders off to see the mandalorian either o our of curiosity in fight or worried for him. Near end of fight mando and his opponent are aiming guns at each other with his opponent take the shot, he dodges and shoots the guy. But moment later he hears a whimper and turns around to see the baby got shot. Like this is two times now they done this meaning they are setting it up on the actual moment the baby does get shot/hurt but in gonna be in a way that surprise and shock viewers.
