Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone Movie Description:
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a fantasy novel written by British author J. K. Rowling. The first novel in the Harry Potter series and Rowling's debut novel, it follows Harry Potter, a young wizard who discovers his magical heritage on his eleventh birthday, when he receives a letter of acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Harry makes close friends and a few enemies during his first year at the school, and with the help of his friends, he faces an attempted comeback by the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, who killed Harry's parents, but failed to kill Harry when he was just 15 months old.
The book was first published in the United Kingdom on 26 June 1997 by Bloomsbury. It was published in the United States the following year by Scholastic Corporation under the title Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It won most of the British book awards that were judged by children and other awards in the US. The book reached the top of the New York Times list of best-selling fiction in August 1999 and stayed near the top of that list for much of 1999 and 2000. It has been translated into at least 73 other languages, and has been made into a feature-length film of the same name, as have all six of its sequels. The novel has sold in excess of 120 million copies, making it the best-selling book of all time.
Most reviews were very favourable, commenting on Rowling's imagination, humour, simple, direct style and clever plot construction, although a few complained that the final chapters seemed rushed. The writing has been compared to that of Jane Austen, one of Rowling's favourite authors; Roald Dahl, whose works dominated children's stories before the appearance of Harry Potter; and the Ancient Greek story-teller Homer. 2:40 It's explained in the books that the protection Harry's mother put on him also kept him from being magically tracked by those who'd wish him ill until he turned 17, But when she died the magic began to fade, so in order to renew the spell's effect on him he needed to spend a few months each year under the protection of someone related to his mother AKA her Sister. Without it basically the Death Eaters could've tracked him down and killed him wishing to avenge their Dark Lord.

You're conflating 2 different charms on Harry. The one his mother placed prevented Voldemort specially from touching Harry (both physically and reflects back harmful magic). This was nullified when his blood was taken in Goblet of Fire. The one that kept Harry from being magically tracked until 17 was Dumbledore's spell and only possible because his aunt (a blood relative of Harry's mother) opened their home to him (albeit begrudgingly).
Hagrid: "You're a wizard Harry." Harry: "And you're a hairy wizard."

Not even just that... Snape didnt actually go to godric hollow outside of the movie, snape wouldve seen his dark mark tattoo fade from his body, but they just wanted the memories scene to hit a bit harder on screen

Snape sucks in the books, he bullied neville cause he didnt like that his parents survived whereas lily died. And fans say this all the time but ron in the books doesnt do much either and is even more of a hater in the books than in the movie, and the thing with the super genius hermione was way more of a super genius in the books than the movie like ron they reduced the number of cool moments with her. Ron awesome moments are pathetic in the bookd if you take him out of the story for the 2,3,4 book nothing changes people just like him for comedic relief and hype up all the moments where he stands up for his friends.

@@lampad4549 i literally finished the books again, and I still preferred Ron in the books. He actually provided info as someone who lives in the wizarding world. Hermione only knows the books side of things. And Ron was willing to defend his friend from a mass murderer while on a broken foot. He still was mischaracterized in the movies so that they made Hermione a Mary Sue like Ebony Darkness Dymentia Raven Way.

They couldn't really give him to an orphanage because they needed a steady place for him to stay for the various protection magics cast on it. If he was in an orphanage and moved homes, someone would have to come in, explain the situation, and then cast the magics on the house. Then if/when he changed homes, they would have to wipe their memories and remove the magics.
