Not for too long, an hour or two is the longest I’ve left it

Do you leave the Star San in the lines until serving? Or do you flush out?

It stays in, but not for long as there is always another beer to put on 😉

How long will that keg be ok left empty. Indefinitely? I cam just leave it till I'm ready to fill with beer?

Yes, it’s sealed, it’s purged so as long as you like

What I do is I fully fill the keg with star San and use it as sanitizer tank until empty. I clean fermenters etc with it. Once it kicks I know it’s 100% co2 inside.

Could you tell me how long a made up star San solution lasts before it stops working. Thanks for the great video.

As long as it’s pH stays below 3. And it can be pretty long (I’ve got a made up keg filled with star San that I use to my fermenters, it’s been made over 8 months and it still works like a charm)

There is no fixed time, the way to tell is to monitor the Ph level of it.

What can i use to test the pH of the sanitiser?

You could use one time use PH Strips or a more versatile option would be this - www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/digital-ph-meter/

Some... 😉 About a table spoon usually, you can mix to the guidelines on the box/bottle but after a while you can get a good idea of the amount you need.

I understand using the VWP, but your video doesn't explain at all what the Starsan is for. Isn't the VWP on its own enough: do we really need to do both ?

The no rinse sanitiser ensures the lines are sanitised but also flushes through the VWP, which is recommended to do so by the manufacture of VWP.
