They love those beaches in Thai, in Bali and Philippines too but juz spent 2 or 3 days there but they'll stay for 2 freakings months at Perhentian Islands and Kapas Island. I asked them why, they said it is the piece of mind and not heavily commercialised. Really underrated, but they like it that way!

Have you been to Redang? The area we went to was fiercely conservationist. You could not see the accommodation from the sea entrance and if anyone damaged the coral you were asked to leave the Island immediately. No pubs or take away or even roads. Just a small hotel which had everything we needed. We could snorkel all around the coast seeing sharks and the most amazing coral. It made the red sea look like the River Mersey. Was it as pretty as some Thai Islands? Maybe/Maybe not, but it was far more peaceful and natural and unspoilt!

Ken, there are a lot more beautiful islands in Msia. Pulau Kapas, Pulau Redang in Terengganu, Pulau Rawa in Johor, Pulau Mabul, Pulau Sapi in Sabah...to name a few. Not many tourists/KZreadrs explore our islands & beaches. May be, you can lead the way. 😁

Thank you so much for this video. You have definitely convinced me to go.
The small fish swimming with the sharks is the Remora. It has a suction cup on the head that actually attached itself to the shark and they have a symbiotic relationship whereby they get to eat the scraps dropped off by the sharks and also feed on the parasites on the skin and mouth of the shark.
Beautiful islands never expected this in Malaysia. Gorgeous beaches

Trust me Ken, there are more beautiful Islands out there in Malaysia but Perhentian is still worth it. You can spend a whole week or two exploring the island as it is quite big.
I Love the Perhentians - clearest water in SE Asia - and I actually prefer it to the Maldives - WAY Cheaper!! Another good one although a longer boat ride out is Tioman Island in the south. That is where they filmed the movie South Pacific and some Survivor episodes! . It's a bit of an adventure to get to the other side of the island as you have to go over a steep mountain road in a 4 by 4. Lots of battles here in WW2. November to March you may not be able to access due to monsoon season and heavy swells.

Let's keep the islands underrated. Or else, too crowded. Bear in mind during the rainy monsoon season its not advisable to visit these places. It rains a lot and the sea waves could be possibly dangerous for small boats. Therefore, most resorts and cafes would be closed as well for several months of the year.
The beaches are so clean and so beautiful!❤ love from China ❤🇲🇾😊
