I love how the world feels alive, the way NPCs react and how the environment will teach you a lesson if you wear metal during a lightning storm or go to a desert without the proper materials or equipment.

    I find this game technically impressive on the Wii U, not so much on the Switch. The Wii U is very limited with it's Hardware and the GPU and CPU is just a little bit more better than the Xbox 360. The Large Open World, Gameplay Mechanics, Loading times, Visuals, the small details, the Physics. It's so impressive how they were able to pull that off with a System with 1GB of RAM. I think it had 2GB of RAM so correct me if I am wrong.

    Some developers have learned from Nintendo. Square Enix, Blizzard, Bethesda, 2K, Bandai Namco, ect. I understand that some developers want to push a System to the limit to show off the technical potential the Console and Developer has. Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4 is a great example of this and having good graphics isn't a bad thing since it helps with the immersion of the game which makes you feel like you are apart of this world. I've had that feeling with Breath of the Wild, it makes me wish I was apart of that World.

    +pghdave420 Actually old Zelda games such as the original are more about exploration and excitement rather dungeons. For the past decade and a half, Zelda games have been 5% explore and 95% dungeon tasks. Nintendo stated they wanted to go back to their roots and start a brand-new type of Zelda game in the image of the first and they did it near perfect.

  • @KidAL0

    @KidAL0

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@backseatpalace Well when I say that I’m mostly referring to that trailer in the presentation. I hadn’t been following the game closely and I guess I just wasn’t prepared for half the cutscenes (and easily the most interesting ones) to be flashbacks. Also I understand the purpose of making the soundtrack more subtle and I appreciate that but I was really hoping something on the level of the song in the trailer would show up eventually and nothing really compared imo. Again though, it was still fun. If you enjoy the other more “traditional” 3D Zelda games and don’t mind the cartoony aesthetic I don’t think Wind Waker will disappoint. It’s got good music and nice characters. I played the HD version that came with a few QOL changes though so the original would likely be a little more tedious. Apart from a dungeon or two not being my thing, I don’t really have any complaints. In a word, yes, it’s worth it

But I'm not even talking Zelda now, BOTW is THE most flawless game I have ever played. With almost 200 hours of gameplay since release, I can say this is the most time I have ever put into a single RPG or Zelda game, and it is a masterpiece. I am so glad they took the extra time to perfect this beautiful game/story. And don't take my word for it, BOTW has already been voted by ratings as the 4th best game of all time :-)

Loved that there was no correct way to navigate the game and we could try anything and it still works. Enjoyed soaking in the beautiful, amazing visuals, especially when playing during covid when we couldn't actually go anywhere. Loved exploring all the strange things along the journey, and enjoyed all the surprises hidden throughout the game. And lastly, I enjoyed the entire game by "watching" my friend play, yet, I was every part as involved, just short of holding the controller. Breath of the Wild is so so so amazing, can't wait for Part 2.

Nice to see Nintendo being a bit more open and allowing their developers to talk a little bit more about their craft and design philosophy. I really hope that the freedom and willingness to go against convention filters through to other first party titles. This game may have some framerate issues, and minor voice acting problems, but those are both so small when taking into account all the greatness of this game. When people say Skyrim is open world, The Witcher 3 was open world, or even FF15 was open world, no, those all fail when compared to this game. That's one of the great things about this game, you can go anywhere you want. Just be prepared to die a lot. I also love the character progression of this game. You start out so weak and vulnerable, then later on down the line, you're taking out enemies you once ran away from. It feels so good to finally overpower those you once feared. There's a lot more to like about this game, but I'll leave it here.

    AshXXMayftw while i love this game i must disagree. skyrim is also an open world game. maybe compared to Botw it may seem smaller but thats because it realeased in 2011 (6 years ago) however I do agree that this game has a very large open world to explore and definintely deserves to be Game of the Year.

    after getting extreme pressure from my friend to purchase the game (it was his first zelda and he absolutely got punched by it), i thought considering buying that strange game that people were talking about. I was only 12 years old back then, so i couldn't watch any videos or resumes at the time about it, so i had absolutely no knowledge of zelda whatsoever. When the pandemic broke out, our nintendo switch, which we (my younger brother and sister) had in christmas of 2019, got plenty of games to make confinement less boring. So we got luigi's mansion, mario odyssey, mario kart, smash bros and... zelda. For a kid whose biggest knowledge was mario kart on the Wii (our only other console), zelda was absolutely fascinating and my brother and sister even quitted everything they did when i lit up the switch for breath of the wild. As far as we knew, our knowledge was so limited that we thought that zelda was link's name, that funny green guy that we saw sometimes in the windows of some shops... and that was it. It was so impressive and huge that we even stopped playing the game for a while, almost scared of its sheer power to process everything that we learnt so far. Playing that game absolutely changed me, and i started collectionning nintendo old consoles and games, with objective to play every single zelda games on their original consoles. I must have now at least 500 hours put into the game and i collected all the koroks, and played the game in master mode. Zelda was like a wildfire and my family now loves zelda music, story and characters thanks to this single game. I played many other games after that, but none captured that feeling of raw wonder i had, and i often find myself replaying zelda instead of, say, a brand-new game i just bought. This is the best game i ever played, and its absolutely impossible that another games dethrones it in my heart. Thank you all the dev team, you god-sent incredible geniuses for providing some of the best memories i've ever had... and making me know that the main protagonist's name is actually link! Wow, i wrote much longer than i thought... congrats on making it to the end! (also, sorry for bad english, i am not a native english speaker)

    I 100% agree with the idea of playing this game with friends and family. With one of my friends, we took that to another level, since we're playing together, each one having a joycon in hands. At first, it's kinda hard, but with communication, you can manage to play as if there was only one person holding both joycons. It's a really fun, interesting and original way to play. If you have the occasion to do it, try it ! You can also try to incorporate personal challenges while playing the game, for example don't fish or hunt and only cook with vegetables and mushrooms. That makes the game more challenging and totally changes the experience.

    I only started playing BOTW a week or two ago. I'm not even half way done with the main quest line -- only one divine beast defeated and I still have the four westward regions to explore. Maybe 60 shrines completed. Etc. Not terribly far into the whole game. And I still LOVE exploring each region. I still love planning and executing attacks on encampments of enemies. I still love how simply playing the game feels. You can feel the effort that went into developing this game. The design of the world and the sonic landscape as well lends itself to fruitful and enjoyable exploration. The very fact that you can see something marginally suspicious and the game rewards you for checking it out is worthy of applause. All of the new mechanics and themes within this Zelda world, as well as the world building congruent with the precious Zelda titles, make for a phenomenal gameplay experience. Thank you for this game, Nintendo. And to the Zelda team specifically: thanks for the hard work and dedication to your vision. I grew up playing and loving videogames. Sometime in the early to mid 2010's I grew disenchanted and fell out of love with the game industry as a whole due to feeling like the industry had fallen so far from the standards they upheld years ago. In a world where most AAA titles feel like they were developed more for the money and less for the fan, Breath of the Wild really feels like a breath of fresh air. Pun not intended but definitely worthwhile. Sorry not sorry for fanboying. Much love.
