    As for other exercises that can be done with these, one of the primary reasons I'm considering them is for decline bench presses, because those are difficult to get into position on my gym's only decline bench (which is really meant for ab training and is very high off the floor vs a normal bench with a decline feature like I have at home, so my feet aren't even on the floor), especially with heavy db's in each hand. Something like this would be easy to pack in my bag on chest day to solve all my problems (although 4 separate s-hooks would be even more compact in my bag than 2 of these, if that idea will fly).

    Exact reason I purchased these, Received yesterday and used, must say this made 80+ Decline dumbell Flys easier, however if your dumbell rack is across the room it is a workout just to get these loaded up for each set. Also, I got the pros, and they don't fit the adjustable 80lb nuobells.

    I just bought a pair and love them. I'm 69 and wish I had these 30yrs ago when I used heavy weights. Even now using half the weight it still makes it so much easier, especially if you have shoulder issues.

    I bought these recently too. They work with the ironmaster dumbbells with the inside adder plates. Concur with the powerblocks but madspotter said they’re working on a solution. Can’t say I love ‘em but I haven’t given them much of a chance yet for heavy dumbbell days.

    Very helpull review mate. I have developed severe hip arthritis and as such have terrible pain in my hips when picking up and putting down dumbbellsfrom the floor while seated on a bench. I was looking to these as a solution, from your review it seems to be a fine solution. On the plus side I never concidered them for shoulder pressing and pullovers, and the pull up trick looks fantastic, a little more movemet that a fixed bar but adding to the stabalising muscles getting a workout. Many thanks mate. Cheers.

    Great review. I've been mulling over picking up dumbbell hooks for years. The hack of using the hook for dumbbell pullovers was the dealmaker, as well as the one to use for modified pullups. Absolutely genius.

    I ordered mine this morning. I was using moderate weight, a little heavy 110 to do incline press. It hurt my elbows, not shoulder due to injuries to get that barbell up there using my knees like I always did. I immediately thought there has to be something. I’m 50 so things work a little less than they used to. Thank you for the review.

    I bought a set of these last month, imported them from the US to UK, I've Powerblock DBs but I also purchased a set of Ironmaster DBs to use the Madspotters with, I use them without the velcro straps, no issues gripping these and I don't have large hands.

    I had a session with my physical therapist and talked about how my shoulder was hurting when I do incline bench. He showed me the hooks and it made all the difference!!!! However, I have power blocks at home and unless they come out with another type that will fit I’m sol because I’m not going to buy another set of barbells to fit the hooks.

  • @tammymo94

    I got them to use with my Snode AD80s. The length just barely fits, but the Snode handles are too thick for the Mad Spotters. However, I'm keeping them to use with my loadable dumbbells. I'd love for Mad Spotter to handle thicker handles.

    Good video. I see a lot of unused squat stands after upgrading to a power rack in home gym tours. Space permitting, a squat stand and the mad spotter hooks could make a good db pressing station separate from the power rack.

    I have a couple questions, so I'll put each in separate comments. First, what is the largest diameter of db that will easily fit (not awkward to finagle onto the hook)? Since the distance between the bottom of the bar they hang on and the top of the bottom hooks that the db's have to fit onto will limit the size of the db that can be used.

    I have shoulder pain and thinking of selling my nice pro series 90lbs powerblocks since they don't work with these mad hooks😔...If I sell them I will get some adjustable dumbells that go up to 50lbs only for my hitt workouts. I probably get loadable handles to use them with my 25lbs olimpyc size plates and these spotter hooks.

    They don’t work with power blocks, but would you like me to work on a similar product that will? I think that would open this type of product to a wider audience… I personally (like I mentioned I’m the video) would love an option for power blocks (that didn’t cost a ton of money) If I design something, I’ll pass it over to the mad spotter team (since they are much cooler than some of these other companies) 💪🏻🤟

    I gotr the pro variant. Unfortunately the velcro wraps that came with mine are not long enough to properly wrap around the hooks and secure a dumbbell. I tried pulling on the strap to stretch it a bit, but even then it is still short.

  • @CurlsintheRack

    @CurlsintheRack

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you are referring to their new version (knurled handle portion welded on) you are supposed to attach the Velcro strap to just the dumbell handle and then place into the hooks… it doesn’t go around both

  • @geomafia

    Do you think the Bowflex 1090 dumbbells will work with the new pro version of the spotter hooks? It now has a knurling. I know the dumbbell handle is thicker in the middle and thinner on the ends.

  • @DonaldConceicao

    @DonaldConceicao

    I just measured my 1090’s and don’t think they’ll work. Handle is over 1.25” in middle and they get much wider at 4” as they flair out on both sides next to plate

    Second question: how is this better than just using a couple of heavy duty extra long meathooks per db (with pointy ends filed) or other strong s-hooks that I can get for about $20 for 4 from amazon? I think it looks way more sensible to use 2 separate hooks per db so I can leave the hooks hanging on the bar and just remove the db from the hooks for the set, rather than having to hold onto the hooks along with the db because the two sides of the hooks are connected by that little bar at the level of the db handle, but since I haven't put that idea to the test, I'm not sure. (This is especially true since I have pretty small hands, so increasing the grip size with that connecting bar and padding probably isn't gonna be helpful for me, lol.) Also $60 is a lot for something I could hack for $20, if separate hooks would be better anyway. But I'd rather not spend the 20 just to find out I had overlooked some factor and now I still need to spend the 60, so any insight you might have would be appreciated.
