He has enough backup money to fight back and also the luck is in his favor. Both of which are not available to most helpless husbands in this country. I was lucky enough to get out without any case as i have A/V proofs of her threats and her elder brother was desperate to marry his girlfriend. Got the bargain down from 10 lakhs to 2 lakhs.

I am grateful to the SC that it has given verdict that asking for a glass of water and expecting wife to do half the chores of the house is not wrong and cannot be grounds for a divorce . We are a long way from an equitable society for men post marriage but we are on the right track.

I had to part with a 2 BHK and a one time alimony amount of 60 L . I still consider myself lucky because your peace of mind is priceless. Once you are not happy in a marriage it’s better to be out of it . Ofcourse not everyone can afford to give away a house and a chunk of your lifetime savings but it’s worth it.

There are many laws in India which assume women can get "lured" by men and women have little decision making ability This patriarchal assumption leads to suffering of men too. Sanghis may recognise "love jihad laws". Similarly "false promise of marriage" laws which can affect anyone.
