My parent both came to America & NYC from Ireland in the early 1950's. I like to watch this movie on St Patrick's Day! This movie along with the Quiet Man & Darby O'Gill and The Little People. Thank you again Jack Fuller for posting this great movie!❤❤❤❤

Tyrone was one of the favorite actors of my dad. He always watched his movies. When he was ill right before he passed away , he asked me to print off some photos of Tyrone and give them to him. He laid in the bed and enjoyed looking at one of his favorite actors. I miss my dad so much. He resembled Tyrone when he was younger.

I read Tyrone Powers Wiki. Man…he was great in WW2. A pilot and flew a plane called “The Geek”, and was a decorated Veteran. He had a full Military Burial. Loved him in his movies, The Mark of Zorro was one of my favorites and I just finished watching The Razors Edge…..fantastic……nobody comes close to this Man in Hollywood today. He was an expert swordsman too.

Once in a while you come across a movie that just gets it so right! The cast , the humor the drama and the intertwining of wisdom throughout -is compelling. The ability of the entire cast to take fantasy and seemingly so easily create reality- even in manner and gesture is remarkable " I offered you gold - it is not my fault that you prefer a pebble.." This one is gold - so many movies today are pebbles. Thank you.

The b era's of the 30's, 40's and 50's are a bye gone time. I wasn't born until 1953 and I love watching movie's from those era's.

@@MooseCall If you are married then making love is a beautiful expression towards each other. Outside of marriage it is called fornication/sex. In my opinion men don't respect women, they expect women on the first date to have sex, so love has nothing to do with it. I was raised and taught that you waited until you got married. Now it is expected when a guy takes you out to a nice dinner, you then become the dessert!

Dec 28, 2019 ~~ What happened to Hollywood? Story Lines like these bring out the emotions in the meanest of men & women. Love isn't Dead. Most fear to show it, because love = happiness. Wake Up people, wouldn't you rather love to be happy rather then hateful. Mother Goose was better for the kids then a Cell phone.

When I was very young my grandmother would tell me about her 2nd cousin that would visit them in Huntsville Ontario and he was a famous movie start. His name was Tyrone power . As a kid I didn't think of it much because it really didn't make a difference to me but now that most of my family is gone its kinda cool knowing this. I didn't understand why my great grandparents were buried in Pasadena California but ya it all makes sence. Tyrone Guthrie powers was his grandfather and he was one of the founders of the shaw festival in Strafford Ontario were they do all the Shakespeare plays . That and 25 cents still wont get me a coffee but its kinda cool like I said knowing hes a family member. Its funny as sometimes I look at my fathers pictures and they look so alike.

It’s so rare to stumble across a movie that I’ve not seen since I was a child. The original impressions come delightingly back when there are no other associated memories attached to get in the way. Truly a long lost favorite, I think this movie was the first I was aware of Cecil Kellaway, whom I mixed up with Edmond Gwenn. And I remember being a bit perplexed by Jayne Meadows trying to marry Tyrone Power when she was already married to Jackie Gleason on “The Honeymooners.” The oddest sensation, however, aside from remembering what comes next after nearly 60 years or so, is reinhabiting a child’s special perspective on all things possible. Although I sort of understood that movies were fictional, at the same time I was still quite hopeful that everything I was being shown was nevertheless somehow true. A leprechaun maybe COULD exist and not just in a philosophical sense. If I wasn’t careful, all my golden (plastic) coins could magically turn into pebbles!

Funny how Americans are surprised that a lot of Canadians are 'their' film stars.

With our classic Irish-American family, on my Dad's side, this film was not an option "in the day" - a learning tool - one for the collection. A few years after playing in theaters an innovation - former top hit movies on tv - changed family life at our house. This was one of them with Tyrone Power - "Alexander's Ragtime Band" , and a basketful more! When one finished at the theaters, we created a new family mind game - calculating WHEN the film might be available on our tv's ! There was no Google yet - even a trip to the library on the topic would not have helped...it was just "us" That's what we get we enjoy these, later in life. Thank you KZread.

Tis indeed a great escape from the ills of the world, like another favorite Brigadoon. Cecil Kellaway, what a marvelous character actor ... any and every role believable and done to perfection. Thanks also to Tyrone Power and Anne Baxter. Sure and Begorrah[sp], there's an O'Hara in the family a few generations back.

Wow this is really good! Somewhat unique theme although vaguely reminds of "More the merrier" where an old guy fixes up a match with Joel McCrea for Jean Arthur saving her from what he thinks is a bad marriage for her.. Here too the man playing the old guy role is very good! And Anne Baxter is excellent as well. I liked her in the movie with Gregory Peck and Widmark. Her face shows emotions effortlessly. And her scene where did explains why she came to NY is hilarious. I guess that's a spoof of Irish? Tyrone power is such good actor in addition to being so good looking! Like a smaller version of Raymond Burr!
