THE LOST WEEKEND | TRAILER | ON DIGITAL & BLU-RAY

Фильм және анимация

THE LOST WEEKEND: A LOVE STORY is the true tale that took 50 years to tell. It follows John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s personal assistant, May Pang, as she recounts her 18-month relationship with John-a relationship orchestrated by Yoko herself. During this extraordinary period, May helped John reunite with his son Julian and participated firsthand in his most productive period post-Beatles in which he released albums like Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, and collaborated with powerhouses like David Bowie and Elton John. Featuring moments with Julian Lennon, Mick Jagger, Alice Cooper, and Paul McCartney, May chronicles it all from her unique perspective as a 22-year-old experiencing her first unforgettable love.

Back in 1983, when I was working as a director for "Eye on LA," I got a chance to interview May during her book tour. She was honest, thoughtful and, in her own way, quite charismatic. This doc is long overdue, of course, and I would love to get my hands on a new copy of "Loving John" since my own copy seems to be lost now to the ages!

Besides this documentary, I also highly recommend May Pang's 1983 book Loving John. It's out-of-print, but I was able to get a copy at my local public library just a few months ago.

That's funny that's how I got my Instamatic Karma book. Cried a little when I had to return it, so the librarian said well if you want to make a donation to the library, we could possibly let you keep it. The donation cost more than the book or about the same price as the book. But I absolutely love it. The pictures in there are so incredible. I've watched everything that may has been doing, and I say go her, she deserves to tell her story. God how most of us wish that she could have stayed with him.

Goddamn, this movie was out in theatres in the US, and living in the UK I was disappointed we didn't get it here. Was thrilled that it finally had a digital and blu-ray release only to find the Blu-Ray release is exclusively US-based, and all the sites that are advertised as hosting it digitally refuse to allow me access as I'm not based in the US! This kind of arbitrary region-locking is one of the many reasons people resort to piracy. I have tried as hard as I can to literally hand over money to watch this and you're not letting me because I don't live in the US. Would it really be that hard to make this movie available to me?!

Can you not buy the film from the US and play it on a region free player here? That’s what I’d look to do if steaming is not available here.

Everything the wonderful May says has that ring of truth about it that's often so recognisable. What a fool Lennon was to lose her and return to the ghastly Yoko, who made so much of his life a misery.

Not that yoko has a good reputation , but I think this will damage her more than anything . She’s in bad health now so it must be a worrying thing for her son sean that this documentary has come out now . Though I think most knowledgeable Beatles fans know what happened during this time it will reveal truths that present day Beatles fans may be unaware off .

Mal was in the circle enough to know what's what. Bottom line is that, yeah...the carrot in front of the nose was the immigration line. Y knew she screwed up and fish lined John back to NYC. John, thinking California was more democratic, wanted to stay there instead.... and anyway - a kid from May would be just fine looking 🎯
