Fun Fact: The leaked revise version THUG 2 Remix actually came from the PS2 version of Shrek Superslam. The revised version was randomly put in there in the files and funnily enough no one knew it was a revised version until recently

It was a dummy file placed to pad out space on the disc. It happened to be THUG2 Remix as it was also made by the same developers

Even better; the front-end of the CD contains all the working data for THUG2; whereas the cutscenes (which will get referenced a lot less) are placed near the back-end of the disk. Most of the Shrek Superslam THUG has corrupted cutscenes; but all the working data runs just fine. I have an explaination as to why it's there. Because when you have to explain to an executive that you need 10 out of 16gb of space they'll want you to cut 2gb to get to an 8gb disk. If you include *something* that puts you very close to 16gb you can trick the smoothbrains into thinking they can't lose the extra space. Executives tend to be focused on numbers only and have no idea what happens in the real world regarding their products; the ones that do care *and understand* are like like pockets of untouched gold.

It’s always a rare event when flippy uploads, but it is always worth it

I like debug maps, too. The big reason isn't that it's cold and empty like you say, it's that I feel a connection to some coder/QA tester from the early 2000s so many years later

THUG 2 was the game that got me into the Tony Hawk games, glad to see it's still got some secrets buried deep in it's code. Definitely gonna have to give this game another run through

THUG2 is the first game i got when i had a PlayStation 2. This feels like opening a time capsule with a load of secrets inside

Literally just played THUG 2 on hard, getting all goals w/o cheats and spotting Bigfoot out of bounds behind a fence for the first time. Great timing to watch this!

That alternate Bam cutscene is great. Lol. I can see why they removed it because it is a bit vile for a T rated game. The line delivery flows so much better though.

One of my first memories of at-home internet was looking up cheats for THUG2 on my sister's laptop, within a couple years of the game's release. I remember coming across these screenshots of unlockable characters in the character select menu. I don't know if they were fake or what because I've never been able to find anything out about them. I feel like I remember one of them being a model of a toilet. Anyways great video flipper

I remember looking up cheats for this game and being told that you have to get 100% of ALL gaps in every level in order to unlock the expanded cheat menu, something I just never could do, thank you for letting me rest easy knowing that my laziness wasn't for nothing Also the test level is nostalgic too, purely because I remember this ancient KZread video of a guy exploring it with Song 2 by Blur in the background, and someone in the comments said "Oh you can easily get to this, you just have to activate the Wall Climbing cheat from the expanded menu and clip out of bounds in LA"

Super Blood is actually buried in THUG2’s code as well. It can be reactivated by hex editing, though I’m not sure if there’s even a menu option for it, which means it’s unknown whether there’s a corresponding lost code to unlock it

This is very interesting stuff for sure! Stuff that not even I know about, and I've been playing thug2 for like 15 years LOL As for the lost cheat codes, yeah... the way NS hid the codes is rather clever. It basically works like a password system. You type in a prompt in the CHEAT CODES menu, the game will convert that prompt into a hash/checksum, and then it will see if the checksum matches with whatever it has in the game's cheat table. If there's a match, you got a cheat. If no match, you get nothing. As for the remaining cheat codes for THUG2, maybe they're hidden in the game's Strategy Guide? I never owned a copy so I'm not sure if they would even tell you cheat codes on there. THUG2 has a decent amount of lost cheat codes, but I believe THAW got it the worst. i did some datamining for THAW, and I found the game's cheat table. and it turns out there exist cheat codes to unlock the "Butterfinger kids" (each one has a unique code), an unused character named Clover, and even a code that straight up enables the Debug Menu. These can be unlocked with Action Replay or GameShark. Im guessing for the "butterfinger kids", they were probably given the cheat codes personally to unlock themselves in the game, since the Butterfinger kids are based on real people who won a contest at the time. I have no idea who Clover is, though. What these codes are will forever be a mystery, unless CB9001 tries to brute-force those codes, as well. They're encrypted the same way as they are in THUG2. PS: Here's a picture of all the Butterfinger kids with some pro riders. does anyone remember downloading custom skaters on ps2 online and having some of them with eric sparrow unlocked? if you passed all the other characters in the select screen and reached the question mark it would be eric sparrow complete with his own stats and tag, and you could still go through all the peds

4:18 looks like a test to validate applying different transforms and making sure they're correct. if you move a character 5 feet over and rotate them 90 degrees, do they correctly rotate in place or do they rotate around the origin? same with the skateboard, if it's moved away from it's skater and rotated, does it rotate correctly?

interesting that doomguy was actually listed as playable character. i mean there was that "DOOM" spray that the CoD soldier does, which made no sense but always hinted at it. but i guess having doomguy again was an icky topic :ickycat: all along. idk about other releases. but the german version of thps 3 had him removed because DOOM was in the german index back then, a list of banned games. i remember hosting a mod that brought him back into the german version on my modding site back in 2004. perhaps the game was banned from other countries aswell and it made release the game even more complicated so they would just scrap and replace him with a skater from another FPS franchise. just speculating. oh and also youtube broke the links you posted in the description, but you can add the ")" manually to make them work again.

this might be some Mandela effect with another game and another time but i remember seeing the 5 codes over and over online. having the game from launch then getting back into it years later i was joyed to see all the codes from past tony hawk games were on a spreadsheets put similarly like the one in the video but on a non-tradition but very comprehensive cheat site. it was bookmarked on my old computer and i went back to it for the codes occasionally until it went down. i spout bullshit a lot but seeing this, a lot of that rang a bell. maybe wayback machine digging?
