I would've loved to see the filly AJ and Rarity episode! I would've loved more flashback episodes in general, I always wondered about what the Mane 6's childhoods were like besides what we saw in The Cutiemark Chronicles and a few others.

Iirc AJ and Rarity were the only ones out of the Mane 6 that grew up in Ponyville, yet we don't really see flashbacks to them being in the same class or anything. I would love to see teenage AJ and Rarity interact.

There's an option on the desktop or on your phone system if you type "mono audio" it'll change the audio driver to one channel only and everything ends up in the middle

I am so sad we didn't get to see young AJ and Rarity as well as young Pinkie and Fluttershy! Those sounded amazing!

That one about the "weird" kid with the robot wings was crazy. It stood out to me for some reason, like I'm really curious about what parallels they were trying to draw with that one and how it would have been executed. It felt a lot deeper to me than the others for some reason, like there was a lot more behind it.

I'm so sad we didn't get the filly AJ+Rarity and filly Pinkie stories, that's honestly devastating that we will never see that.

I would have loved to see some of these! Especially the one with Rarity helping Pinkie Pie start a business. I’ve always liked Rarity and I think she could have been an excellent role model for girls and boys, encouraging kids to be innovative and start their own businesses, and mentoring others to do the same. And the lesson about caring for the art and not just the profit is great too!

There really needed to be side character episodes instead of focusing on them as only side characters and seeing them in the background

Yeah... I especially wish we got more on Lyra and Bonbon/Sweetie Drops outside of Slice of Life. Would've liked to see how they met and the development of their relationship. Especially after they married.

no, not really the main six is already a big cast and the fact that they get the majority of the episodes is GREAT. It creates more opportunities for character development! additionally, there is such a thing as too many characters, if we got background pony centered episodes, it would drastically increase the cast size & become messy & jumbled up. Fans wouldn't be able to know who the main cast is which is a lot harder for marketing, toys, and other merch production. The mane six are SO marketable, you can find toy sets of them, backpacks, blankets, posters, etc with just the mane six. It's a lot more profitable to include them all as a package deal rather than take a risk and only sell them separately. when you have a giant cast, it becomes harder to do that. You then have to worry about how you're going to market such a large cast & which characters get bundled and which don't. TLDR: Big cast = Bad & less money

​@@yumekoslefttoenail6746Normally I'd agree, but after S6/S7 it became pretty obvious they were running out of stuff to do with the Mane 6. All of them were exactly where they wanted to be in life, and their friendship was stronger than ever, meaning an increasing amount of Mane 6 episodes would have to either retread old ground, make them act out of character, or become a flashback episode. Imo, the best episodes in the later seasons tended to be the ones that put the secondary characters in the spotlight. The Spike/Big Mac/Discord friend group is not something I could've imagined the early seasons doing, but every episode surrounding those 3 tended to knock it out the park.

Jesus, the way Hasbro viewed the "reformed bullies story' is beyond idiotic. Where was that thinking when starlight was reformed? Plus, we don't even hear about Silver Spoon by the end of that episode. Diamond Tiara was reformed, and that was it. The entire reformation was already rushed, and they turned down the idea of an aftermath?

I think with the first episode you all mentioned, a potential reason it didn't make it to air is probably because the show is for young kids and, having a character be "less fun" when not eating sugar could be seen as telling children to eat more sugary things which is of course VERY unhealthy and would lead to many Karen's attacking Hasbro.

I really like the AJ and Pinkie flashback episodes, they couldve been a cute way to show how the cast met before Twilight showed up and made it an official group

I've heard a lot about these episodes that were lost and or scrapped. And even though it's an absolute shame that they never saw the light of day, It's sadly inevitable that not every episode idea was able to make it into the final cut.

Since it was supposed to be a Discord episode, the title 'Number Fish Fan', in particular the 'Number Fish' part, is probably based on the nonsensical statement that 2+2=fish.

NOOOO why did we miss out on filly lore WHYYYYY. It would've been so cute to see young AJ, rarity, fluttershy and pinkie.

I just can't believe we missed this many episodes with new characters, backstories or Discord. I love backstories and stuff, and I'm upset, ESPECIALLY WITH DISCORD EPISODES. Like I would love to see Mayor Discord, or Discord bully a pony for calling him soft.

I would have LOVED to see an episode centered on the parents of the Mane Six.

I think you need to redo the audio on this one. Hearing Rain's audio only in my left ear is driving me nuts.

Flash Prance was the working name of the historical pony who was later introduced as Flash Magnus. In The Crystalling, when Starlight says 'it's not like there's a spell that would magically compel us to pick up where we left off' and Sunburst takes that literally, he lists off three spells; 'Mistmane's Material Amity', 'Rockhoof's Repour', and 'Flash Prance's Fellowship'.

Man am I sad about Mayor Discord and Number Fish Fan, Discord has pretty much always been my favourite character since his debut so more episodes focused on him getting scrapped just hurts me personally. The flashback episodes would have also been really fun to see (Life of Pie catches my attention especially), as well as Parents Day!

Honestly, I would've loved if they made both flashbacks of Mlp that were scrapped. Especially since I always have been curious about how each of the Mane 6 met. And Parents Day is an episode I would've loved to see as I wish shows expanded more on parental/parental figure characters. But yeah, I loved both parts for this topic!!!

Lost, scrapped, or altered. These MLP episodes would’ve been good if they were released as they are. I’d love to see more Daring Do episodes with a new villain other than Caballeron or Ahuizotl. I even tried to write a new episode for myself that featured Daring Do no longer has a place to explore after Ahuizotl’s jungle is now off limits, so she turns to Twilight for advice and informs her to go see Zecora and they journey together to a new land inhabited by more zebras.

If you’re having issues with audio, you can go into your computer or phone’s audio settings and turn on “mono audio” temporarily.

Having Rainbott's audio only coming out of the left audio channel is really jarring for headphone users. If re-recording wasn't an option, you could set her audio to mono or duplicated her track to both audio channels.

Some of these episodes are just the plots of existing episodes before they were reworked, and then theres ones like "a day without sprinkles". I think we deserve an extended cut featuring these episodes, even if the budget is garbage

I would have loved to have seen more filly fluttershy and all of the mane six's parents interact. Some of these seemed so cute. Also would have loved both discord episodes and the one with filly applejack and rarity as opposed to just filly aj that we did get. I am also interested in each of the mane six's lives before season 1, especially their bonds together. Any episode with friend sets as foals would be cute. Fluttershy and rainbow dash's filly friendship, rarity and aj, pinkie and, well, everypony as a filly. There WAS a mane five long before twilight joined the scene and as much as I adore twilight and the dynamic of all six, it would be cute to see more of their pasts. I would have even enjoyed some filly twilight hijinks especially if foalsitter cadence got involved. An episode with cadence and filly twi and the beginnings of cadence and shining crushing on each other as a little sub plot would have been just adorable.

Parents Day story idea, Everyone is meeting up the parents, or in AJ's case, grandparents of the faculty are sadly the only ones to show up and while everyone's chatting and getting to know each other and we see some cute fant conforth banter between pairings like Wendy Whistles and Mrs Shy and even Big Mac and Shining Armor cuz that would be a fun pairing, Igneous Rock Pie and Cloudy Quartz go up to introduce themselves to Grand-pear whom was not therefore hearth-breakers and they notice that Granny Smith and to a lesser extent Grand-pear are both looking a little down in the dumps and while they initially want to go try to cheer up the two of them cloudy pieces together an off-screen conversation that igneous and cloudy had with Granny during Hearthbreakers and with just this line "It's their anniversary, isn't it?" Unintentionally pushes Granny Smith and Grand-pear are two tears visible tears and the main conflict is Twilight consoling her emotionally damaged friend Applejack only for AJ to be to choked up to speak and Twilight overhears Big Macintosh confirming to shining armor and limestone pie that is just so happens to be the anniversary of the breakage of the Apple Family, we even get verbal confirmation of the Crusaders age range with the reveal that is Ben x amount of years and Apple Bloom was only two when AJ, Mac and Granny all woke up one day and Bright Mac and Pear Butter were just gone

Really love this video, but please, please, please next time you edit a video, check through the whole thing with headphones to make sure there isn't audio fuckery, because it really wasn't pleasant to listen to Rainbott only in my left ear. Obviously I can switch on mono audio on my desktop so that fixed it, but this is a crucial thing in editing a lot of YTbers keep overlooking or missing sometimes.

Very interesting video! I'm always interested in pony lost/scrapped media. Although I have to say that the audio made it more difficult to listen to than your usual videos. I wasn't watching with headphones, and even still Rainbott's audio was muffled and quieter than Shunks, so I had to adjust the volume every time the speaker changed. Some of the background music picked was also very distracting - I love Earthbound's music but some of it is just not made for video essays. Heartless Hotel [the track for the segment at 3:36] in particular was so distracting that, combined with the muffled audio, I couldn't absorb what was being said at all.

For sure some cool looking missing episode. Cant wait for part 2, keep good work going.

I think "Number Fish Fan" sounded the most interesting to me. I think it would have been interesting to see how Discord reacts to other ponies besides Fluttershy liking Discord and him dealing with someone who liked the old him better. Could have shown a nice contrast between the new and old Discord. Though "Dungeons and Discord" is an extremely fun discord episode that season, so I don't think it was a huge loss.

Life of Pie sounded amazing! With all the flashbacks they came up with Season 6, why didn’t they produce a set of 2-3 of them towards the end of the season? That would’ve given the Mane 6 fans their fill, and Starlight fans more anticipation for her starring role in the finale.

I feel like the business ep with Pinkie and Rarity wouldve gone against the Princess Dress ep too much imo - Rarity already expressed a dislike for automation over creativity so idk why she’d try doing it again lol

They would go on to use the Sugarless Pinkie concept in another IDW comic, All in Maredaration, where the sugar deficit is caused by a hostile prohibition by an extremist nun. And by prohibition, I mean it flat out becomes similar to the Prohibition era of 1920s America, complete with an illegal bar for ponies to get their sugar fix, and it's even treated like drugs and alcohol.
