Good God, I remember when getting Savvy/675? was like a badge of honor. A milestone. A bragging right. My brother ended up with 2 AUTHENTIC Savannahs once. Family bought him one on Ebay for Christmas and then it got stolen and I think he got one at a Yard Sale. I got Brooke in a blind bag and... painted her before I knew the value. And then took the paint off... along with her eyes. Oof

brooke HAUNTED me as a child. she genuinely feels like a character ripped straight out of euphoria. the scenes of her abusing the cricket? her mother openly bodyshaming and neglecting her? her using revenge porn on tom and then later sexually assaulting him? the fact her body’s immediate reaction to being upset is to start vomiting? it being heavily implied in season 2 that her ed has gotten so bad she’s becoming incontinent? brooke is traumatising.

as someone who grew up on LPS youtube, GOD this is absolutely hilarious. I loved LPS popular a lot as a kid. (Im not gonna lie though, as a 7 yr old watching it with other negative outside influences relating to my weight... the show definitely had a negative affect on my self image, and instilled unhealthy mindsets in me along with the other influences.. :( )

It had the exact opposite effect for me. A lot of things I was exposed to at the time where subtlety pro ED and extreme diets, but LPS popular was the first time It was shown in a negative way, and it showed me how awful it was be. I didnt start learning about ED academically until highschool which is way too late, but I knew about it and went on to research more on it bcuz of LPS popular. I guess it really just depends on how you view it as a kid and is different for everyone.

@@Maplekittycity Yeah, thats fair. I think its moreso that I was more at risk to developing an ED when I was younger because I was bullied and outcasted from my peers because of my weight. And yeah, the show portrayed it in a negative light, but from what I can recall it wasn't fleshed out as negative until later on, and Savy kept pushing back against it at first. I dont fault the creator for it honestly, moreso my parents for not paying any attention to what I was watching. But that mixed with the bullying and also just.. the general culture surrounding women needing to look a certain way lead me to unhealthy behaviors :')

I’d recommend LPS Above the reality by skylla and What’s Yours is Mine by Blacklattae. They are both quite pretty looking and each have their own charm. Both are very different tho

While I did watch LPS Popular, my fondest memory from this side of KZread was a series called Experiment 42. I've never heard anyone mention it and its such a shame because I remember it being pretty good with awesome costumes and set pieces.

Fun fact! There's a remake being made that has a slightly different plot! It's really well made! The first season is based on seasons 1 and 2 of Popular, but season 2 is its own thing! I won't spoil it, but it's a really good watch :D

Tbh I think kids in general tend to act out dark/dramatic storylines with their toys, these ones just happened to be filmed 💀

Admittedly I never understood why and how Brooke turned against Savvy. And I think this series was the reason why majority of LPS series take place at a high school, especially in California, and have almost the same basic plot as Popular. Oh, and the Crazy Talk application that was used in the intro and some scenes (it makes the eyes and mouths of the LPS move) didn’t really age well; it’s uncanny valley material.

I've watched other people's videos on this series and they all pointed out something that I never would've noticed myself: Savvy and Brooke haven't been on talking terms in years and Savannah had a borderline obsession with Brooke from the beginning, which was a bit offputting. It was like Savannah was still stuck in the past. I mean, she still referred to Brooke as her BFFL, despite not hearing a single word from her for ages. This implied that Savannah was a bit immature and sheltered. She also had a huge wall-sized photo of the two of them when they were close hanging up on her bedroom wall. Her own mother even tried to gently tell her that Brooke might not want to continue their friendship, however, Savannah just brushed her off, showing that she was somewhat delusional too. My personal theory is that Brooke started seeing she was becoming a different person and her long-distance friendship with Savannah wasn't serving her anymore, so, she just ghosted her, assuming that Savannah wouldn't care or Savnnah shared the same thoughts as her. Of course, this doesn't excuse Brooke ghosting her best friend from her hometown and going off on her like she did at the end of the 1st episode in the slightest. Then, when Savannah had her makeover, Brooke felt attacked like Savannah was trying to take away her fame. Brooke probably had family issues that shaped her into thinking she needed to be better than everyone else because if she was lower than another person, or was equal to them, she wasn't good enough. It's also possible that Brooke's always been this way to a certain extent and Savannah is just now seeing it. Though, I do think Brooke was a possessive and manipulative gf who saw Sage more as an object than a person with his own thoughts and emotions. I definitely think that Brooke making Savannah break up with Sage wasn't cool either. Brooke is also a delusional character if she honestly thought making Savannah do that would make Sage go back to her. But, Sage is the most popular guy at school and Brooke probably sees him as an add-on to her social status. Which is another thing she has against Savannah. Even though Savannah got together with Sage after they broke up, and Brooke being the reason _why_ they broke up, Brooke still views it as her "stealing" her prized trophy. Sage probably would've cheated on Brooke with Savannah anyways (not that I see Savannah being okay with being a side piece or anything) because he was already drifting away from his gf to the new girl while they were still together. I feel like Brooke might've suspected that Sage had some sort of crush on Savannah before sabotaging their relationship.

My Pitbull was named after Savvy from this series. I got her as a puppy around 2011. She's getting old and her time is coming soon. So this show is always bittersweet. Edit: She passed away a week ago.I came to watch this video to help me feel better.

Aww, I know that feeling. My dog isn't named after any of THESE characters, but was named after one from a cartoon I watched when I was 4. He's so white in the face now, but he made it to my 18th birthday and is still kickin' a little while longer. It makes me sad to think about him for too long...

Lpstube is partially responsible for my love of video making because I would use my LPS & an old camera to film my original stories. I wasn't able to upload them or anything, but LPS has a special place in my heart because it helped me discover one of my passions.

this is something that I really admire about littlest pet shops, even though it's association with filmmaking was sort of incidental. especially when it comes to its target demographic. most little girls don't have the right materials, proper role models, etc to get invested in filmmaking or even understand that they could do it in the first place. littlest pet shop videos became an outlet for that.

same. i have a slight interest in film due to growing up watching lps and monster high series. i even attempted to do my own stop motions when i was a kid

growing up on LPS popular, i never realized just how incredibly dark this show was 😭 like it never clicked in me that there was literal EDs in that show

I think that bc Brooks parents aren’t around she seeks extreme external love and attention from other kids/teens. Her and Savana we’re everything to each other, and Brook encouraged this. So, when they were kids Savanna was Brooks source of affection. When Brook moved she was given a fresh start to attention seek as much as she wanted, spending money so kids would look up to her, and making out with boys. When Savanna showed up, instead of seeing it as an opportunity to reunite with someone who really cared about her she just saw her as a possible threat to her image. She put Savanna down, but when Savanna started getting even more popular she became an active threat to the attention that she was getting, so she acted out and caused scenes. Trying, and failing, to get the validation she craved. I love lps popular!

I was almost an adult when I found LPS Popular (or was I an adult? cant remember), had absolutely no interest in LPS or high school dramas or anything - but I was enthralled. Watching some kid make their own edgy ongoing dramatic story was awesome. And it was good?? Like not the best written thing in the world but it bloody well rivals alot of more 'professional' teen high school dramas. Being done by a kid with their toys helps iron out the rough bits and is just more enjoyable overall than watching adults act out the lamest shit. I love it. I would re-watch it in a heartbeat. My favourite scenes are the dramatic wide-shots where a character is walking down a hall or cafeteria and theres just... a giant palm, in full view. Never gets old.

Did y’all know that there’s an lps popular remake? I heard since Sophie has stopped making lps popular videos, someone else has made a full remake of the entire series, it’s seriously impressive! The quality, the settings and everything is just unique. Even the story has been altered to be more serious and intense, I recommend you check it out! (Also lesbian brook is cannon in that remake so if you’re into that then check the series)

i've been watching the remake and i'd recommend it. i have a lot of problems with it, mainly that i don't really like what was done with brook or lina but it's still pretty fun. it feels weird being labelled as a remake, i get why but it's so different from the og story outside of using the same characters and following similar story bits in parts. feels much more like an au if anything

As a kid, the neglected pet plot HAUNTED me 😭😭I was shocked by all the blood in the second season as well! I personally preferred the first season to the second just to to all the convoluted and honestly horrific plots 😭 also it was finished so I gave me a sense of finality lol

I think it's natural that shows took place a lot in high school. The people making this stuff are young. This is what they know LPS popular is 100% responsible for LPSTube's obsession with shorthair cats, collies, and daschunds, and I find that *hilarious*

as a canadian, half of these names are like very common in canada. brooklyn and savannah is like half of the student body at every canadian high school

Loved that show even as a hardcore day 1 MLP FiM fan. thought it was really underrated and it was such a shame my two favorite childhood properties had to be in competition :(

I believe the reason (or at least a part of the reason) some of the names sound unnaturally “fancy” is because the school itself OCD (Orange County Day) is supposed to be this really prestigious high school where everyone is super rich, as we see Savannah’s friends are able to buy her a whole new wardrobe no problem. I think it’s also mentioned in several ways throughout the series that the school/town is uppity. As a long time LPS fan in general I really appreciate any content about it! It was a gnarly wave a nostalgia watching this lol Edit: Also Sage sucks. He only started being decently polite after her makeover. 😒

Omg I hate that trope in teen highschool series where the main girl gets a makeover and the guy starts being nice to her after she's pretty. Like you didn't pay attention to her when she was just a plain Jane and now she's deserving of your attention? It seems so superficial. That's why looking at movies like the duff and shit really tick me off because it's only after the main character gets the spotlight that everyone treats her with respect when she should've had it before.

i remember watching the makeout savannah episode when i had my first phone at age 10 (i think i watched it with my friend who was about eight at the time). this was probably one of the reasons i could only go on youtube kids for a while and was absolutely not allowed anywhere near regular youtube for several years.

This series as a whole really shows the progression of lpstube's entirety. And I love it so much to this day. I still go and watch lps series both old and new even now as an adult cause it brings me so much nostalgia. Sadly, we saw the death of a lot of channels when KZread changed it's policies on kids content

AND LPS REMAKE IS AMAZINGGGGG, while its evry different and probably more age appropriate, it follows the fan theory of savy or brooke likeing the other.

lps popular was everything to my childhood friend group. i was actually in charge of checking the sophiegtv channel every single day for new episodes. i don't think i can describe what it was like being 11 years old, logging on and seeing a new lps popular was posted, and then running to the landline and calling every single one of my friends to alert them so we could watch it. i don't think anything will ever have a grip on me like lps popular did

Yesss there's so many good LPS series! One of my series hit around 2-3 million views (no where near LPS Popular) It was a fun hobby to do! Learned about video editing, how to work a camera, and how to DIY your own props! I was embarrassed about it for a long time but just now i'm taking a little pride in it lol.

I relate to this so much. Between 2012-2017 I made LPS series that got some traction on Russian-speaking LPStube (which despite being separate from the English-speaking community was also heavily inspired by SophieGTV). I became really ashamed of it as I got older and eventually stopped making videos when I moved out to go to college, but I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t miss it. These days I take pride in my LPStuber past, too - after all, how many teenagers have our (impressive!) skill set of all-in-one puppeteer, voice actor, set designer, and filmmaker?

Something that I never understood about popular kids is why are they considered popular when everyone else who isn’t in their friend group hates them? At least that’s how it is at my school

What I find weirder than LPS Popular is the abundance of 9/11 related LPS videos. I’ve seen people recreate the events, remake those videos of people talking about loved ones lost in the attacks, and even original 9/11 remembrance videos.. it’s pretty absurd

This could have been iconic friends to enemies to lovers show

Oh my god. Thank god I'm not the only one who sees the tension between brook and savannah. I think they definitely has some type of feelings for eachother but won't act on them due to the whole highschool ranking drama thing. Also, I think brook will end up taking this too far. She won't stop until she either accidentally kills or severely hurts Savannah.

You say this was based off of Mean Girls, and while I don’t doubt that was an influence, I feel like it also might have been based partially off of the book series called The Clique. They came out in the 2000s and had some similarly cheesy one liners that make me think of this. Lol

Maybe the fact that a lot of MLP fan content, as PG-13 or R rated as it got, didn't use the toys too often, was why Hasbro never sponsored any MLP fan content. They appealed to the fandom on occasion, yes (especially in the comics), but not flat out made positive deals with them like with LPS Popular.

In Canada pg is more intense then usa pg, so that probably explains while it seems intense for pg

if i was old enough to see all of those shelves stocked with LPS i would literally go apeshit. i mean lose my mind crazy. i’d go as far as saying i’d start hysterically sobbing, out of the pure joy of those curvy shapes and particular colors that make that generation of LPS so unique and beautiful. they are a stunning work of art. the sounds of their plastic paws against different surfaces. the customizability, the vast range of content you could create and consume with these little colorful bobbleheaded pieces of so many people’s childhood. hell yea

Dude I remember going on eBay the child because I wanted to buy these but they didn't make these models anymore and every single model in different colors was like $20 but the savanah and brooke would be like a hundred or two hundred

im pretty sure sophiegtv was confirmed to actually speak french as a second language, which isn't surprising considering it's common in canada

I want to share that MLP Fever made a very good LPS Popular Reboot! Definitely worth checking out. I'm waiting to watch the season 2 compilation (she put the first part together as a full movie and it's so cool!) Really respectful to the original while also taking creative liberties and building upon it.

"Unless you have a nostalgic connection to it" seeing the title of this vid unlocked lost memories from a decade ago. I remember watching this series as a young teen and inspiring my own games with my LPS lol. Looking back now so many years later... There was some heavy stuff, but I remember enjoying it. It wasn't a huge part of my life but was certainly a piece of my history that shaped that part of my formative years.

I honestly hope Sophie makes more stories! Even if they're not LPS videos and such. (presumably) at such a young age she made pretty good dynamic and memorable characters and Im curious on what creative endeavors she can make now as a (presumably) adult who's definitely improved.

I gotta say the food quart scene at the beginning is hilarious bc I live in cali and our cafeteria food is barely food. The pizza is like cheese laying on top of cardboard and the call half the shit in the menu “freshly made” when it’s cold and soggy and you had to take it out of a bag.

I love that people made Shows on KZread that where intended to be seen as Dark and where made with Mlp Toys and/or LPS Toys (I’ve seen some that mix both). My favorite was always ‘Just Different’ by Mlpstopmotion.

HEADCANNON! was rewatching this and I’m just now noticing Malcom a bit more, maybe the show (in their universe) wasn’t making as much money so they dragged random ppl in the show (Malcom) and since he wasn’t originally in the script he’s just talking about what’s going on outside of the show but the people behind the screen silenced him, the show cancelling soon after due to funding.

If you’re willing to read a lot of captions (because the series is in Polish) I would recommend LPS: Above the Reality. That shit looks so pretty and is so cool and interesting. CHECK IT OUT

I'm so glad you made this video. LPS Popular was my actual life as a kid. It was insane being there as the episodes were coming out.

I personally grew up on Hello Studios and LpsAce (not that I didn't watch Popular as well, cause I was definitely hooked on that crap 😂) Those series really did make my childhood, always wanting something fantasy based. Oh I also remember a series called I think uh- OOF. It was like a mermaid series idk (no, it wasnt the Alice Lps one 😅). But my goodness, I'm just glad to see someone sheding light on LpsTube in general as its the very thing that encouraged me to draw and create. ❤
