Can you imagine the skill, knowledge and patience it took to make this monumental move? Peter Jackson is a legend and will go down as one of the greatest directors in history.

And he could have done The Hobbit films equally as well had the studio not plopped him into it at the last moment, refused to push back the end date, stretched 2 films to 3 films, and shoehorned in the cringiest love triangle of all-time. If it were Peter's project from the beginning, he would have taken his time preparing it correctly, just like these films.

@@saltedllama2759 Yeah it's odd how someone can produce 3 master works, and studio's are still like "naw do it our way" just give the guy the funding and stay in your lane.

When I first saw fellowship of the rings back in 2001 I was totally focused on the movie. When I watched the making it blew my mind and had so much respect for all involved and how really big the full picture is.

I was only working weekends back then, and used to go see the film on my days off when no one was about. Eight times I saw it in the cinema. I could barely comprehend how amazing it was..I had the deluxe film OST and listened to it almost non stop. It is still incredibly moving to watch all these people and their hard work.

The consistent, persistent, uncompromising passion and thoughtfulness that went into making this trilogy is why we had never seen anything like it before or since. We only wish the studio and Pete had agreed, together, to do The Hobbit before it had gotten underway so the same preparation and effort could have gone into that one. We would have had 2 more (instead of 3) brilliant films in the universe, instead of the rushed, but also stretched thin mess we were given.

Holy cow, it seems like the production used Augmented Reality to mock Balin’s tomb scene. I didn’t think that technology was around in 1999 - 2003. Peter Jackson and his whole team are geniuses!

And to think Sean Bean was so adverse to flying he walked up to the snow for that shot. I was fortunate enough to be an extra as part of the NZ Army still a life moment that I’ll never forget. Got to chat with Sean Austin between takes when filming the orc camp in Mordor Sam and Frodo get caught up in, they start a fight so we as the orcs close up around them and the overseers can’t get to them before the sneak off
