I had the privilege to go to bootcamp and have Lance Corporal Mustapha as my rack mate . He was in MRP with me until he eventually was transferred to another platoon. He is a good man and I’m proud that he is now among the Brotherhood. Mustapha, brother if you’re reading this .... I am so proud of you and your lifelong accomplishment. Parris Island feels like home after a while , but it is only home for a short time . Congratulations Marine. Semper Fidelis . Alphatraz , Alpha Company. No escape , no parole . MCRD , PI , SC .

He had a free GET OUT OF JAIL card and he refused to take it, he's from Sierra Leone, he's seen the worst this world has to give and he wants to make a difference that's why he didn't quit, most recruits will not experience this until they are deployed. Semper Fi.
"Retreat? Hell, we just got here." Stay on the attack, Marine.
This shows we really dont know what each of us is struggling with. Some people do a good job of keeping struggles hidden inside and bear the burden or pain and push through without anyone knowing. Something to be admired and saluted.
This man is a fine example of why I became a Marine in 1984. We all have are problems and issues in life, mine put me out in the world at 15yrs old and a Marine at 19yrs. This Marine, as so many others, prove that although we don’t get the glory like Army Special Ops or Navy Seals, we prove time and time again that we are the best at what we do and WILL always win our battles. As I was told in 1984 by my senior drill instructor, “it takes testicular fortitude to be a Marine, if you don’t have it, it will be beaten in you and you will be tested, if not you won’t earn the title of U.S. Marine”.
Semper Fi. Wish we had more refugees like you. hell, wish we had more American born civilians like you. God bless

Yeah jack Daniels I’d definitely try to bulk up some. I went in at 180 and came out at 160 maybe less..it’s hard to eat at first cuz they fuck with you the whole time..and even later when you can eat it’s always go go go and stress so expect to lose some. Although I knew ppl that gained weight so who knows

Full Send Filosophy yeah I mean it wasn’t hard that’s for sure..I played football and basketball and grew up working hard so I knew what to expect to an extent. It’s funny cuz everyone wants to know about boot camp before they go in when they should be focused on what the fleet is like. Where you’ll spend a minimum of 3 yrs 9 months of your time in. That’s what it’s really about as far as knowing if you’ll like it or not. I did my four years and got out October of 2015. Enjoyed my time and the ppl I met but not enough to spend another 4 doing it. I will say it’s a good route for ppl if they don’t know what they want or have the means to pursue it. Just know it’s gonna suck most of the time haha
This is a true marine, you can tell his determination and pride. No matter the issues like his medical injury. He still made it through!

Some will never understand...the stuff we had to go through to become a citizen and served this nation. PROUD OF ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN IN ALL BRACHES OF SERVICE!

Absolute motivator, this is the type of dude to wear his uniform all day even tho he’s been cut for Libo like 3 hours ago
Was a pleasure spending a couple months with this Marine, really cool guy had a pretty good talk with him telling me his story coming to find out we both lived in Pennsylvania
Mustapha What an absolute unit

I knew Jess before he entered the Marines. We would joke about our names, but I can honestly say I've never been prouder of a fellow Jess in all my life. It's an honor to see how far he's come.
My son graduated from PI in January 2017 after being dropped from his company due to pneumonia. He was there an extra 30 days. I know once he made it and was official a Marine and not “this recruit” any longer he truly felt his dreams can come true with commitment and patience. Hats off and much love to someone who can keep going for 12 months and keep their eye on their goal!!

As an onlooker, it seems like Marine Corps boot camp instills a lot of pride in recruits. In my day (mid-1960's), Parris Island instilled more fear than anything else.

I live in Hungary. Ive been "trying" to move to the US for like 5 years now, at this point it seems impossible. If you dont have any kind of connection to the US like a close relative whos a green card holder, employer, fiancee, or youre a refugee, if youre none of the above you cant even get the chance to become an immigrant. Oh wait, theres also the green card lottery which gives you a 0.3% chance of winning each year. In head and heart I am American, I even have a 2 Bill Of Rights posters on my wall, but Im almost 28 now and even if the immigration process was to start right now due to some miracle, by the time I get a green card and actually enlist I'd be too old to join. Ive spoken to alot of Americans both online and in person, Im not saying the US isnt letting in enough immigrants, but alot of Americans sure as hell forgot what kind of people built up the US, people like us. I mean what more can you offer than your own life, putting your ass on the line and still I have no option to immigrate.

@Dave Klonpenberg Wrong and wrong. I love it when people tell me to "fix my country". My country is the way it is, theres no fixing it, theres no pushing it in any direction. No matter what I do, no matter how hard or how long I bang my head against the wall, my country will never ever be like the US, no country in the world will. I could spend my entire life trying to change something here and it would be pointless. I'd be throwing my life away for nothing. So no, I will not be wasting my life, instead Im pushing for the goal of moving to the one country in the world which has the US constitution, where individual freedom and rights are paramount, where the population already has the mentality which I wanna live in, where if I wanna buy a proper car or house I dont have to be shitting money out my ass like here in Europe. Saying the US was built on trade and slaves is like saying Europe was built on medieval times torture and countless wars. Its just ignorant. And why exactly is freedomforce18 a coward? lol? Im pretty sure he sees his country the same way I see mine, that it will never be like the US.

Fantastic! 👍
Damn... He became a Marine a week before I did... And I went to boot camp in Parris Island on June 17th, 2019, that's crazy. Honor, courage and commitment go a long way with this Marine.
Going to boot camp next month. Great video
I was there when his incident in boot camp happened. Even saw him on occasion back in STC. He really does deserve the title after all that.
OUT FREAKING STANDING, SEMPER FI

You definitely had something to fight for Marine! Welcome to the Corps. GySgt Pettus, congratulations on the promotion. Hopefully I get a chance to see you again when I make it back to PI as a drill instructor #AlphaCoMade #1052
I went to PI way back in '01, and we had a recruit come and talk to us that had broken his ankle during recruit training... I can't remember during which phase this had happened to him, but if I recall correctly, they kept him there until he was all healed and eventually he finished boot camp, but had been at PI for about a year...
All I've ever wanted to do is be a U.S Marine. Everything i'm doing in life is to try and earn the right to move to the U.S so I can achieve my dream. There's still a few years left before I'm 'too old' but I won't give up. God bless the U.S and well done to Jessie Mustapha for his dedication and commitment. All the best!
