The Longest Wheelstand Video on Youtube
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I put together a collection of videos I have taken at the Byron Wheelstand Contest from 2012-2021 to make The Longest Wheelstand Video on KZread. This is nearly an hour long so sit back and enjoy the non stop action of Muscle Cars competing in a Wheelie Contest for $10,000 dollars and the bragging rights to be the winner of this historical event at Bryon Dragway in Byron, Illinois.
One thing to note is that this long video is missing the years 2013 and 2018. I couldn't make it out to the event in 2013 and in 2018 the event was rained out and never happened.
I made this video on New Years Eve 2021 and wanted to say Happy New Years 2022 to everyone and hope this video gives you some enjoyment while you are off enjoy the Holiday Season. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you have a great New Year!

I love this video. Thank you, I really appreciate watching this. Great job to everyone who competed in the competition. Great job for making the video.
The green Hollywood car is hilarious 😂
This is an awesome event thanks for the coverage. I've seen a Black 59 Impala a few times. I had seen him at Beech Bend Ky a couple of times and that car has some sic torque in that motor. I knew he would not win the wheel stand event because he couldn't carry the front end that long. Great job Tom.
As usual, the green Camaro always wrecks. Not a question of if. It’s when.

That orange big block Gremlin bouncing off the rear bumper and peddling the throttle has got to be my favorite!!
Lol 11:40 mark the green blown car guy is a professional car wrecker
The "Chinto" is setup pretty good. Just the right amount of power and balance... No pedalling or screwing around, just mat it, let go of the transbrake, and let come up and bobble around on the rear bumper by itself. 👌
Thank you so much for sharing!
The person in the 68 baracuda wins it..totally epic!
Go AJ......👍👍 Lol...... gotta love it! Many thanx Tom. Got to get to Byron 1 Day. It's on my "Bucket list" 😉

Just AWESOME... Thank you#1

Everyone hating on the green camaro. Get a life. He's having fun and entertaining. Yalks some haters
That Gremlin took all four wheels off the ground, and blew the back window out, at a wheel standing event. But the real OG is a 68 Barracuda, hemi-powered, motor in the front, that SOB went the whole 1320 and part of the Slowdown Lane on two wheels. He did it like he was on Rails too. it was amazing to see a car running a 10-second quarter mile, at over 125 miles an hour, on two wheels. No plexiglass floors, either. Balls of steel my friend. Special mention of the car that did a near perfect wheel stand, but veered into the left guard rail on two wheels. When he got close to that guardrail I almost wanted to yell at him, to get out of it. Car was pretty, too. Oh and then there was the green 68 Camaro. Yeah that guy came down too hard and fucked up his car, went into the guardrail. So what does he do? Keeps on doing wheelies until he beats the front end off of it. Yeah, that wasn't his brightest Shining Moment. But yeah, that 68 Barracuda for the win.💯
Wow !!!😳 I never saw a convertible do a wheelie before this video 👍🏽
Thanks for your time and the best.fun👍👍👍👍👍👀😊
The guy that drives the green camaro seems to have a grudge against that car,lol !

Have a great new years.
Back in the day, when NHRA still did 1/4 miles I had seen a number of wheel standers go the distance on a half mile strip, if I recall they did not nose down until well after the 1/4 mile. The strip, that's easy, was at York US 30 back in the late 70's. Was a great place for drags as there was plenty of over flow area for safety. Remember one was a tank, one was a cop car, and a few other various vehicles. By the way that is the same strip where Sammy Miller lost the "Spirit of 76" body one night before he built the "Vanishing Point" the following year. Guess that was 76 or 77 not sure exact year. I do have a photo of the "spirit" in the pits before it came apart.

37:15 I don't need any front end, it's a wheelie contest. He had to feel how bad it was like crazy and to take it all the way, he launches that many horses with a bad front end. Stuff legends are made of, I was surprised he wasn't stopped by the track staff.
You can tell the guy with the small orange car was having fun.
1:43 those early barracudas are really good for wheelies, u guys may of seen the orange one that managed to hold a wheelie to the end of the strip, may be the same car but different colour

Well the pinto got all four wheels off the ground I see, as well. Yeah I don't know if it was Byron Dragway but it was definitely another wheel stander event, because that 68 Barracuda that went the full 1320 and change, was in the right lane.

Yeah, that dude just needs to give up. It just looks like he's a showoff without the talent to back it up.
A good wheelie to me is when the car leaves and carries the front tires about a foot off the ground for about 30 to 40 feet and settles down nice and smooth
@tomeighty
9 ай бұрын
I saw a car one time at Firebird Raceway in Idaho lift the left front tire just about 3 inches off the ground for the whole 1/8th mile. The right tire stayed on the ground. I thought man what kind of power does it take to do something like that. Unreal.

@@tomeighty are there rules for these? the reason i ask that is there has always been real wheelstanders at the drags. there set up to where they mash the gas n run the whole track with ease. are those type not allowed i presume?

The dude in the green camaro is a glutton for punishment.
john petri did the first quater mile wheelie in Canada i believe.
Most of these cars have same problem. All of the weight is in the front. Move all of that weight( engine, tranny) to the rear like Hemi under glass and the little Red Wagon. Then set up your steering like those big old modified pilling tractors, Hand throttle, individual brake pedals for the brakes. Then put a window in the floorboard to see the track while the car is up in the air.
@tomeighty

Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. I believe... but don't know 100% for sure but the group of guys in this event try to keep the vehicles looking like a regular street car or race car and not a purpose built wheelie car. I know they have a lot of pride in what they do and want to separate themselves from purpose built wheelie cars that are made to do quarter mile wheelies with no problems. These kind of wheelie have an art to it between balance off the back bumper and the amount of power you can throw at it before the rear tires get off the ground and slam the car back down to earth.
The drivers view going over the wall …. !!!!
6:06 baby!
Holy moley that Chevy wagon sounds shag nasty!
What about a rear-engine car? What would it be like if all that torque didn't have to lift an engine block off the ground?
