This tune is usually played much slower .almost like a drag. I love what TS does with it, It’s a very different road, A highway to Heaven,

Here in Rochester, MN, we had the Turkey River All Star band with Les Fields and his three or four players that played at the Honker restaurant some times. They were really good too. I heard Les died a week or so ago. Sometimes he would play ( I don't know what that thing he played like a washboard player) with a cow bell and an few bicycle horns. It was really fun. His banjo player played a very fancy gold plate, engraved Ome banjo with an extra fret and she knew how to play it. They never made any CD's.Gone forever.

This is a wonderful video of the band. Everybody is, by their own standards, dressed up. We're offered some great closeup shots and generally intelligent camera work.

Hard to say what is most pleasing - Erica's vibrant voice, Robin's fascinating washboard, 'Tuba Skinny's' sousaphone (Todd), the brilliant arrangement (Shaye), or the terrific way the horn line and this ensemble weaves it all together. Has trad jazz ever been better ?

"The Lonesome Road" is a 1927 song with music by Nathaniel Shilkret and lyrics by Gene Austin (Erika Lewis adds lyrics here) Look down, look down that lonesome road Before you travel on. Look down, look down that lonesome road Before you travel on. Look up, look up and greet your maker, For Gabriel blows his horn. Weary, totin' such a load, Travelin' down that lonesome road, Look down, look down that lonesome road Before you travel on. Weary totin', it's such a load, While I'm travelin' down, travelin' down that lonesome old road, Look down, look down that lonesome road Before you travel on.

The greatest peoples street musicans jazz band in the world but with only one criticism... They should have turned up the volume on the microphone of Shayes performance, I know Mikes and brass are the greatest of enemies but with some professional monitoring they could have reached a good balance. Shaye is the Best and should never be under sold.

Addition of a double bass would really round out this great group!! Similar to the Potato-Head Jazz group
