R.I.P. Peter Mayhew. The force shall always be with you.

I know a lot of people HATED Chewies death in the books, probably still to this day, I actually could see why most of the fans at the time couldn't handle that, but Me personally I have to say. This death was a good send off for the wookiee. He died doing right by Han and his family and went out howling at the crashing moon like a Bad Ass. Han's grief was done very realistically. Much better than how Han and Luke died in Canon for a fruitless effort to bring his son to the light and Luke over exerting himself to create a false illusion for the galaxy when Chewie could have gone back to pick him up and he could have done that from the ship after he dropped Rey off to confront Kylo. Now Carries gone. All we have are (Stock footage Leia), Chewie and Lando and 3PO and R2.

Chewbacca died well, roaring out his final breath, and satisfied that his life debt to Han was paid in full. He was a hero to the end, and the lives of all Star Wars fans are enriched by the tales of his heroism. May the hall where all great warriors gather welcome him with open arms and a stout drink.

I "like" how the death of Chewbacca was the only main star wars character who ever got a death that made me sad... The deaths of Luke, Leia, and Han in the Disney trilogy were all meaningless in a story that makes no sense...

I should amend that; Cp3o's "death" in ESB got me as a kid and his actual death in that one semi-canon comic was also a great send off

A very nice dossier to a true friend of the fans and one of the pillars of Star Wars itself. You did a good effort in pronouncing Shyrriiwook. Personally, I would've placed Renegade Squadron as just a minor mention, followed by he and Han's adventures to escape from bounty hunters (Dark Horse's Star Wars 2013 reboot), encountering renegade stormtroopers as the Rebel's fastest transporter and smuggler ( _Allegiance_ and _Choices_ _of_ _One_ ), and then ending with the founding of the Rebel base on Hoth. I'm never going to get over Chewie's final moments before his death. Peter Mayhew's own passing just makes it all the more hurtful. Nur kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la.

Damn, with the context of Peter being gone, this video was actually pretty emotional for me

Goodbye Chewie. You honor his memory Tadd Lar'ken.

I was harassed online by a Disney canon fan on one of Star Wars Explained's videos on a comment regarding an unrealistic situation of the Empire in the Disney canon switching from clone troopers to naturally bred stormtroopers.

Pissed me off that Star Wars Rebels ignored Luminara as a dead character in Revenge of the Sith since there's that shot in that scene with the patrolling AT-RT's looking for Yoda, Chewbacca and Tarfull with two big flames.

The comic is called Star Wars: Chewbacca and while I'd "never", endorse not purchasing these comics in either paper or ebook format (because I tooooooatally did that like a good boy), there are websites like readcomiconline that you can read these comics for free (id recomend getting an adblocker plug in for whatever browser you use). Also, thank you for reminding me, I seem to have forgotten to include my sources in the description like I do for every video. That will be my priority later tonight

I left out a lot of stuff. Given that Han and Chewie appear in ALOT of media, this was more of a generalized overview than a complete biography. I've done complete biographies with other characters that ended up being well over an hour long.

I love Chewbacca.

@starkillerab1582 I don't recall in any of the books, movies or TV shows any female wookiees speaking but in the audiobooks they just use generic chewbacca sound bites for all wookiee characters male and female so I would think it's safe to say they sound similar. Actually, as I'm writing this, I recall Malla (chewbacca's wife) does seem to have a slightly higher pitch than the male wookiees in the holiday special.

@@ben_blu oh hail the babies who I asked about it it's because though your history is actually pretty interesting I talk about myself and it's actually one of the longest character histories in your Universe especially how long while your legacy last fast as almost passed you there's always another Skywalker up to defeat itself yet that this Rich history me is pure gold in Star Wars Legends which I believe is a wonderful reason why mandalore's make a video on you because you have one of the richest histories of all Star Wars characters and I believe you are one of the best

Nope. Chewie is not dead. He’s a Wookiee and Wookiees are very well known for ripping the arms of encroaching moons out of their sockets when they try to smash into one.

1. What about death troopers and 2. I'm so glad chewies death isn't cannon anymore I honestly thought he was going to die in force awakens with those bombs he set on starkiller base

I would happily trade the three ignoble deaths of Han, Luke, and Leia in the Disneyverse for Chewbacca's noble death in the EU. He lived well and died well.
