My tank already has a good many fish so I don’t know for 29 gallon 5 corys 6 cherry barbs and 12 rasboras is there anything I can do to keep both of them or would it be better to get rid of one and get a male or keep it alone?

    Well Cody you came to the right place, I first want to say thank you for watching my video. So my first question, is your tank a planted tank ? And if so do you have caves and places where your rams can go to be away from the other one. Also before removing one female ram try adding a male ram and see if the aggression minimizes. You could get lucky and the male ram pair with both females. Good luck! Let me know what you end up doing. Also feel free to dm me on insta it’s easy to reply on there.

    As a former professional fishbreeder, it is no wonder why most of the fry died. Great that some survived, but just a few tips. 1. Feed fry what they want to eat. Ram fry are "programmed" to catch small moving prey. As a general rule for any fry, watch their eyes - most fry can eat something that is no bigger than their eyes. Ram fry are small, and they do a lot better with small live food moving in front of their noses. Small variants of newly hatched Artemia is recommended, or even smaller food like (SMALL) batches of infusoria. 2. Putting that big lump of food, not suited for Ram fry needs, no wonder you got problems with water quality. Way too much food which they did not eat much of, and which fouled the water fast. 3. Sucessfully raising any fish fry is ruled by three principles. Give the fry suitable food. Keep a good water quality. Give the fry enough space to grow. The tricky part is how to do this with specific species.

    Excellent advice from Joker Vienna. If you are breeding Rams learn to hatch brine shrimp and use a Fry solution like Liquid Fry. Once the bellies are red. Make daily or every other day a 30% water changes to maintain water quality. You will soon need large tanks to keep all your fry and fish. Have Fun.

  • @jokervienna6433

    @jokervienna6433

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Tronex333, it is impossible to say anything in general about Apistos. I think there are around a hundred species described and their breeding needs varies. Some are considered easy, others difficult. Getting a good pair can be hard for any species, and some require very low pH for the eggs to even develop. The agression-level differs between species and even between individuals. For being such small fishes, some want a lot of space. They are also short lived, I would say two years in aquariums.
