Yes, they kept breaking up and getting back together throughout the years. Apparently the song is about Pete mocking the British tabloid 'The Sun' who demonized Pete's addiction and made him to be some kind of monster. He is in reality a very gentle soul. That's why the lyrics 'Don't look back into the sun, now that the time has come (for you to show people your talent) and they (the sun) said it would never come for you'. Also, 'they will never forgive you but they won't let you go' About how the tabloids won't forgive him but won't let him go either. I live in the UK and his face was plastered on every shitty tabloid, every single day, since I can remember. The press loved to hate on him when he was struggling with terrible heroin addiction because of his high profile relationship with Kate Moss.

I absolutely love The Libertines. This is a great track, probably the best intro ever. The band have such a rich history, but are still together. They've also opened a bar and hotel in Margate which is well worth a visit

@@intothemusic908you should listen to babyshambles, down in Albion the debut and shotters nation are great, there third album is full of really good rocknroll with a quite upbeat pop vibe. Very differently produced but still great. Peter really made some great music his solo album Hamburg demonstrations is excellent. I cannot stress the importance of Peter dochertys input into music the last two decades. He's a very talented man and was given a hard time by the British press

Fantastic band, first two albums produced by Mick Jones (The Clash). To answer some questions, yes they are still together and currently touring, both Peter and Carl are the lead singers (depends on the song, and they often both sing on songs). Both Pete and Carl sing on this song. They also are both excellent guitarists and have some really intricate guitar work. The first two albums are excellent as albums, listening from beginning to end is a must. Also, highly suggest watching some of their live performances, great energy, great fun, and you can see more of their guitar work. Unfortunately, they do not tour in the US, Peter is not allowed at this moment. They do go to Mexico from time to time, so that would be the closest.

My band played this for a friends birthday in college, there was no stage so the area where we played was just mixed with dance floor. Everybody dancing amongst us with beer flying everywhere. Great times. Trying to remember the set list - this song, I bet you look good on the dance floor, supersonic, sally cinnamon, waterfall, something by the doors…

The first two albums were so good, really captured a time in the early 2000s. Babyshambles are another one worth checking out, one ofnthe offshoots of this band who were a lot more reckless but still had the songs and harmony together away with it.

@@steroberts what about Fantasy Life of Poetry And Crime, his newest album in collab with French musician, Frederic Lo? I saw them live promoting the project last month in Berlin (I think it was last month) I had no money so Peter let me in for free, hugged me and asked to ‘take it easy, darling’, because I’m pregnant. Talked to all the team and Peter’s wife. That was something I waited since early childhood- I was 7 when I fell for them and Peter especially. He’s such a beautiful man, human. Everyone was so polite and wanted to engage with me and my husband. (I was wearing the newest merch and his 2007-2009 classic hat) Peter also sang You’re My Waterloo looking and pointing at me. I cried so much. I’d seen Libs live in Berlin in 2014 (I lived in Warsaw, Poland at that time and was barely 18, but there was too many people to talk to any of members. Btw I’m seeing Libs again in autumn in Warsaw, when I live in Berlin 😆 full circle. I hope to talk to them, they’ve changed my life and now I’m clean of heroin, I’d written that in a small letter to Peter he took and looked very touched) I’m sorry for rambling. I love Peter so so much and I have since early ‘00s. I’d never thought I would meet any of them, poor girl from Eastern Europe. 🥹🖤🤍💕

@@SlavicRusa that's a great story. I met my wife (who is also from Warsaw!) via Babyshambles. We met Pete when he toured with the Puta Madres and told him our story, he gave us a big hug and let us take a photo with him. I really like the new record with Frédéric Lo too, I'm glad he's still putting out good music.

Music when the lights go out from their second album is great, and I would recommend a couple of their older, lesser known tracks - Plan A and Cyclops (I think I mentioned those on your first Libs reaction) ✌️

Please react to Fantasy Life of Poetry and Crime by Peter and Frederic Lo. It’s beautiful! ‘Invictus’ is my favorite! Also from his first solo album- ‘A Little Death Around The Eyes’, ‘I Am The Rain’, ‘Salome’, ‘Palace of Bone’, ‘Broken Love Song’ and classic- ‘Last Of The English Roses’ And The Libertines, my favorite ever is ‘The Good Old Days’ Love Your channel btw. Keep doing what you’re doing, You remind me of my dad, who got me into all the classics (I even saw Iggy Pop in May this year in Lyon! Unfortunately my biggest hero ever is just tattooed on my arm ‘My mama said to get things done, you’d better not mess with Major Tom’- never had a chance to see him, but frequently visit his memorial in Berlin where he lived with Iggy and Neues Ufer, Café/pub kind of thing, full of Bowie stuff, Iggy wrote The Passenger there! Whenever you’re in BLN, it’s a must!) I wrote a comment: ‘Fantasy Life of Poetry And Crime, his newest album in collab with French musician, Frederic Lo? As Fausty said, you may think you've listened to their best, but Time for Heroes is up there with the greatest songs of all time. It's perfection, like Teenage Kicks. I think there's another half dozen songs on their first album which beats this also. Second album is great too, but it's the story of the band falling apart, so it's tinged with sadness. I envy you having all this in front of you to discover!
