    You hit the nail on the head with "Fleetwood Mac". They were extremely public about their relationship ups and downs (they had a forum where they would basically openly send each other messages and bicker and send each other love poems, before celebrities being on the internet was a Thing), and were mutually obsessed with one another , to the extent where many people debated whether or not they were actually lovers (the Wikipedia page for the band even talks about it). So yeah, that album was like post punk Rumours.

    The first verse is about Doherty burgling Barat’s flat, think he did time for it. And “brown” is British slang for heroin mate

    "Can't stand me now" opens the album, "What Became of the Likely Lads" closes it, so I guess it should be next. These two songs are part one and part two of a story for me. Another great song by the Libertines is "The Man Who Would Be King". It rises like a swarm of rain clouds. Shaky, agitated, nervous. More whispering than singing, someone talks in between, Lennon greets, Macca grins. Ringo whistles. Such a good tune. Love it.
