Fun fact, Percy's rifle is called Bad News, cause "nothing travels faster than bad news", and when he showed it early in another episode while putting it back in the bag, someone asked "what's that?" and he replied "nothing but bad news"

@@Omn1Media Percy also is a sharpshooter: in D&D terms, he's able to ignore cover penalties, and shoot targets at the maximum range of his weapon with no penalty. The maximum range for Bad News is 1200 feet. Percy's capable of shooting small targets almost a quarter mile away.

I mean, it depends. I'm currently playing a Death Domain cleric. Technically, that makes him a divine cleric, but he's more likely to raise the dead than to nuke them 😂 I've lost track of the number of times he's yelled to the other party members in frustration, "Stop destroying their heads, I need them!" 😂

If you go back and watch that ritual again delilah has a fairly large chunk of residuum (the substance anders was talking about in the flash back teaching percy and cassandra) in her hand and uses it to amp up her spell which is why the horde is so large.

This show is great...This whole episode was right out the campaign....Ashley wasnt there cause she had to film for Blindspot...when Matt made her come back she surprised everyone by Skyping in to literally decimate the undead forces......I predict the last 3 episodes are the a 2 part Briarwood battle then the arc closes in the finale

The buzzing was a great referral to her NOTORIOUSLY bad Skype connection, which made her appear blue and flickery on the monitor they had her on, and which would crash at the most INOPPORTUNE moments!

Judging by the Soundtrack, Winter's Crest could be the last episode, given that, directly after this arc, immediatly after Winter's Crest, (Winter Solstice,) Dr. Dranzel sets them off to the encounter that was moved to Episode 2, combined with the plot elements from Before stream to create Episode 1. Given that the Winter Solstice is only a few days away in the story...I think that the next full arc will have to be 2 Seasons, given that the FeyWilde and Marquet miniarcs are part of it.

@@kaizen5023 She was! The show started at 7pm PST in L.A., and she was starting at 10pm EST at her NY hotel. She had to be up early shooting the next day (Friday,) but she missed gaming with her friends so much, she stayed up until 1, even 2 am a couple of sessions anyway. She was seriously dedicated!

Another strong candidate for my favorite episode. I'm struck by how perfectly they're riding the 3-per-week release schedule. The whole show is solid, but every cliffhanger episode so far has hit it out of the park IMO. I loved seeing how you rooted for Pike in previous episodes, anticipating how much you'd like her badass entrance around this point in the story. "Astral projection" is what Matt called it whenever Ashley was able to participate via Skype from New York (where she was filming a TV show). :)

8:00 "In Dungeons & Dragons, zombies are not contagious and being bitten by one does not turn you into a zombie. This is why you do not see anything in the Monster Manual about players being turned into zombies. Zombies are created primarily through use of the Animate Dead spell." ~ Straight from a DnD Forum. If you think about it, it makes sense. In Sci-Fi Movies, it's never a Zombie itself that turns you into one - it's the Virus that they spread through the Bite. In DnD, you have Magic Spells that create Zombies. But then again - yeah, it's their own Universe. It's also worth to remember that "Vox Machina" Campaign started not on DnD, only on the Rules of Pathfinder.

There’s other types of zombies tho. The basic ones are not contagious but there’s a few other types like the husk zombies in the Wildemount setting book that raise humanoids they kill as zombies.

As someone who currently plays a Death Domain necromancy cleric, I agree: bring me to a fight and I will make sure it's an undead fight whether you want it to be or not 😁

I'm pretty sure it was Keyleth who told Percy to wait, not Cassandra - Keyleth in many ways was the party's conscience, and would object to killing an unarmed woman in a jail cell

Pike is the GOAT. Not kidding. Also, Remember in the liminal space of the Divine Gate, when Pike asked, "Delilah?" The figure there said, "no." Right before trying to pull Pike into the Darkness. That voice is the same one coming off of the Necromancy spellbook, when Delilah is called to it. You see it's eyes in ep. 8, (and the end of the title sequence, and a distorted version of its face in the ceiling, when Delilah calls on it to bring her husband back from Death's Door. You have also heard it's Exandraian Name: The Whispered one. Also note, one of the family wasn't on the Tree anymore. Only 4 sets of feet, not 5, and the shortest one, who's feet wouldn't be in the shot, is the one whom the Camera pans to for the Undead reveal. The one disguised as Vex is not there. If you are watching Campaign 3, you know who I'm referring to. She would have woken up around this time, based on her description.

Critical Role brings the "get fucked" out of yea doesn't it? lol.

They set up two major plots already... the dragon said the age of dragons is near. And Lady D keeps mentioning the Whispered One. Briarwood arc will likely end in thr next 3. But we still have a backstory for each character and this was ultimately just Percy's story.

Yeah, but 2 seasons isn't enough time to cover the story of Vox Machina. The Briarwood arc is only 15 episodes out of 115. Granted, they did skip the first 23 episodes, but still that's 76 episodes. The way I figure it they'll need at least 6 full season to cover everything. That's not including the 3 one-shots that take place after the campaign.

I love watching the reactions of new critters. Seeing your excitement and emotions of the show is our reactions during the original campaign. We never saw the briarwood background during the campaign so even we are enjoying the new items.

Love that you noticed Vax's mad dagger skills: His D&D character has an incredibly high dexterity skill, and as he progressed in levels, rogues get extra combat actions each turn. So by now, he really was throwing "Dagger, dagger, dagger": And it became his catchphrase! They made t-shirts for fans, and everything (which the actor often wore on set). If you go back to episode 4, there's an Easter egg in Gilmore's shop, where Vax is looking at, "Dagger, dagger, dagger," referencing it. :)

Rogues don't actually get extra combat actions. In the campaign, most of Vax's additionnal attacks come from magical items (namely his boots), multiclassing, or him dual wielding.

His 3 dagger attacks come from him using Boots of Haste, giving him double movement and another attack action; his daggers returning from him was a magic belt that Matt homebrewed for him, that has the daggers teleport back to it.

I love the entire cast of Critical Role and this show but there is something special Travis brings to the table with Grog. I think it´s because of the "simplicity" of Grog. Travis really made Grog a standout character even though he is essentially the very picture of the stereotype. Travis made Grog so great with his more emotional moments but then also brings this pure fun catharsis that few others do like in the scene where he hacks down the giant. There is just so much personality there while still pretty much doing what every "big strong stupid guy" does. That is why his performance stands out to me so much.

Also some of this bad decisions because of how dumb he is makes for some amazing story elements later on in the campaign. Also I can't wait until we get to see Grog's family arc animated. FOR STRONGJAW!

in dnd zombies are purely magical risen undead, ghouls however, now thats a big problem if you get bitten by a true ghoul

This first season will complete the Briarwood arc….that arc will lead into the chroma conclave and then THAT arc will roll into the Wispered one arc for season 3. After season 3 is complete I have a feeling we will be getting campaign 2, The Legend of The Mighty Nein!!!

Chroma Conclave should must longer than one season...During that arc they finished they charcters loose ends and gathered the vestiges. Which im predicting 2 or 3 seasons of that?....Vecna arc not so long but the Epilogue may have its owm season aswell.

Ive never played dnd but i'd pressume the reason Pike seems so OP here is beacuse she's astral projecting from a temple. It's like a never ending source of light she can draw on cause she's still physically at the temple. I love that she found a way to be included in her party's fight and even turned the battle. Absolute badass.

Loving the 3 eps in the one day thank you for all your continued hard work Omn1

Season 2 was hinted at in the first few episodes of this season. Can't wait to see your reaction when those reveals happen!

I BROKE THE WORLD FOR US! Got to love the Briarwoods. Best Villains. Delilah was an The Archmage of Antiquities in The Cerberus Assembly. A group of powerful and politically influencial wizards of The Dwendalian Empire of Wildemount. About as powerful and ruthless an organisation of Humans as you will find. Their Vollstruckers are the SD and KGB of The Dwendalian Empire. Delilah was kicked out for her necromantic efforts to cure Sylas, and Vess DeRogna, one of the antagonists of campaign 2, took over.

Notice the Duke said Fuck this just like the Hound did in GOT both played by Rory McCann

Delilah was one of the Cerberus Assembly, if that helps with the "I don't know how evil she was before that" question.

Skeletons do work a bit like a zombie plague. If enough skeletons take bites out of you, you turn into a skeleton.

@@robbmeadows4600 Well Matt used those "title" names in the Tal'Dorei guide (including "The Everlight" for Paizo's Sarenrae), and the Wildemount guide was published by WotC themselves. Would seem a little weird to stick with "Whispered One" forever if that arc gets picked up though. But CR has such a tight relationship with WotC by now that I don't see that being problem down the road.

This is why you have a cleric when fighting undead.

Their flirting on-stream arguably started with Percy making Vex specialized trick arrows in the single-digit episodes, and Vex doing things like agreeing to pay for materials Percy needed without quibbling. It stayed quite low-key until after Liam and Marisha had taken the first leap, though.

Normal zombies are purely magical. Husk zombies, from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, transform humanoids they kill into more husk zombies. Surprisingly, neither has a bite attack.

Zombies in D&D do not in fact infect people. At least not the way they made them, they don't bite or scratch, all they get is a "slam" attack. Which is one of my complaints about that monster.

@@Ozgarthefighter Amazon gave them season 2 right away but I dont know how many episodes they gave them. Really hoping we get more weeks as 4 weeks just hasnt been enough. The next speculated arc has a lot of points to highlight that I dont think 12 30 minute episodes would be enough.

I don't think there's any reprieve for anyone on his list. He's obviously made a pact with something in exchange for the power and knowlege to kill his enemies. That woman (Anna Ripley I guess?) is going to die.

FYI, episodes 9 and 10 are in the wrong order in your youtube playlist.
