The reason why the whole door debacle was funny is begun throughout Campaign 1, the team had an incredibly hard time dealing with locked doors.

@@JaayCeez At least in C3, the problem is a legit one in that the C3 party didn't have a Lockpick Specialist. They do now, though, so doors are no longer an issue. I do find it funny that Travis was like, "I don't give a fuck what class I'm playing, I'm going to take Proficiency in Lockpicking!" In C2, it was somewhat legit because it was largely due to low levels. Once they got high enough level, doors, largely, became a non-issue because Sam, being the Rogue, couldn't fail on lockpicking. To the best of my recollection, there was only one instance where they had a door issue at higher levels and that was because they made the mistake of not sending the Rogue. But, hey, they're only human. They're going to brain fart once in a while. C1 though... that was just a lot of bad luck (dice rolls) and inexperience as players (not considering that they would have to deal with locked doors when assigning who would do which part of the mission).

Fun Fact: Blue dragons are known to collapse their own lair to kill intruders. Usually this plan doesn't involve the dragon's own death, so they can just reclaim everything afterwards, including what the would-be thieves had on them.

"Keep some of those fangs, get some scales while you're at it..." In the game, they had a Bag of Holding with a purely ridiculous amount of loot and souvenirs. Including a troll dick, so that was an easter egg for the Critters. "That made me sad..." Congratulations, you have now met Liam O'Brien (Vax). He can always be counted on to bring the pathos. Not for nothing did Matt Mercer end up designing a College of Tragedy bard subclass at his suggestion... (It's in the "Tal'Dorei Reborn" campaign book) Liam has also talked about how much the Dragonlance books meant to him as a youngster (his fave was Raistlin, because of course it was), so he might well be responsible for that fancy Lance of Dragon Slaying we got a glimpse of in Gilmore's. The sandal in the same shop is a reference to Gary Gygax.

5:27 Tusk Love is an easter egg from Campaign 2. At one point the party buys a copy of it and reads from it, forcing Matt to narrate a passage of improv smut, and it became a running joke. 6:30 is also an in-joke reference. The CR group has had multiple notorious moments of getting stuck on doors they can't get past because of a series of bad rolls.

There are two more easter eggs in Gilmore's Glorious Goods shop, on the shelf behind Gilmore are the skull of a triceratops (ScanBo foreshadowing), and also from campaign 2 a stuffed ferret, a reference to "Sprinkle", Jester's pet ferret. Not to mention the Matt sightings in every episode of the animated series. Absolutely loving this series.

@@rcaron2482 No, it's not. That painting in no way looked like a tiefling. It's obviously meant to be a dragonborn or shapeshifted dragon. Also, this is 20 years before Marion Lavorre as we see her in C2. Though you might reasonably expect The Ruby of the Sea to be famous enough to have paintings of her hanging up on another continent circa campaign 2, she'd still be at the relative beginning of her career in this time period, and not yet internationally famous.

ill agree that the cgi is a bit stark but it gives the Big Bad the other worldly Unbelievable quality that i think dragons deserve. just that chomp of the trees from last episode alone really made me realize how big a threat dragons are....and ive been playing for ttrpgs 20 years. like they were always a big threat but...that was terrifying! anyway, CR just loves killing their friends and each other, with Felicia Day playing that commander that got super zapped, Grog giving Tennet a splitting headache, and the main cast voicing most of the back ground character, most notably the two soldiers who ran away from the fight being Matt and Marisha; a couple who falls to their gruesome deaths together, stays together~ I love that David Tennet was one of the first to sign on after the main cast and their close friends cause Sam knew him; such a big name grab for the cast!

This is actually something covered in deep lore about dragons dragons. The reason dragons always look a little off is because they are hyper realistic. They are the only living thing that doesn't originate from the gods. This includes Plants weirdly enough. Dragons are made of the raw magical potential of the prime material plane. This is why anti magic fields do not negate their aura of fear. It's not considered magic. It's considered the fact that they look too real to be real. So, in a way, dragons being CGI in a traditional animated universe actually does fit with Dungeons & Dragons lore, in a weird sense. If you didn't notice, the minute the dragon was dead, some of it's body immediately reverted to traditional animation, while other parts remained cgi. This is because, without the life force of the Dragon, all that was left was matter, just like everything else in the world.
