During the time of Jesus the Romans were big fans of slavery; it was an unavoidable reality. Even Jewish law entitled releasing slaves in their seventh year. Heck, the whole of Exodus was anti slavery - 20% of the Torah. The Roman Empire collapsed only a century after Christianity was adopted as the official religion (a Roman version of a more esoteric predecessor). Corruption of Christianity is what led to the subjugation of women, and uncontrolled capitalism making humans a commodity for labour rather than a willing and remunerated participant.

True, Christianity influenced the ideas of democracy, John Locke whose ideas are influenced in USA constitution and laws he was a devout protestant christian and Harvard college was also build by puritans christians , Christianity influenced our modern education and great society but now everything going out control because of jihadi 😔

I could listen to Douglas Murray read a recipe, he has the most amazing voice. Douglas Murray is absolutely right about the difference between Islam and Christianity. Most of the way countries are governed, are based on Christianity and Christian traditions and culture.

It says, in fact, in the first few sentences that Jews and Christian’s are going to be okay as long as they’re righteous. Him being an Englishman doesn't invalidate his arguments. I'm not even from the west and my country has a Muslim minority not by virtue of recent immigration. They've been living together peacefully with other religion. However, even then, we have more than three Islamic Terrorist group in the country. A few even pledged allegiance to ISIS and razed a city. Islam's foundation and its refusal for any reformation is the root cause of the problem. Christianity was once similar with it's crusades but today, it's far better than the barbarity that is Islam. This is coming from an atheist.

He isn’t saying anything about kindness. He is talking about equality of rights within a constitution and it’s legal system in a modern civilised country and it’s connection to some of those same principles contained in the Biblical teachings of Christ and other wise rulers and Judges of antiquity. You seem to be missing the point.

@@walterbenjamin1386 I tend to somewhat agree with you on that point but I suppose some religions allow more flexibility than others to question investigate and criticise without immediately dispatching the questioner. However some of the most brutal regimes are headed by the totalitarian totally irreligious leaders so basically it’s a matter of deciding which one of them is the least malignant malicious and destructive to humans until we can find a new way of living. Christianity seems fairly benign in comparison to some or none. The enlightenment and the separation of church and State is only the first step at least it’s an attempt at balance as opposed to extremes. I would certainly prefer no religion rather than a completely awful one. Keeping faith as a private matter is important kinda like a hobby or sport. Football is wonderful but football hooligans are not.

The way I see it is white Europeans Christians/ American Australia New Zealand also, I have to add Israel here also and I know they are not Christian obviously but they on the same level as the west, these country’s and their people have just evolved quicker than eastern Muslims, not only religiously but technically also, they just have a totally different mind set, and I thank god they do.

Your worth as a human is not greater than another human, with other words, one is not more human than another. Your role on the other hand can be different and will be different. Someone’s role is to be a doctor and someone’s else role is to be a president, one can have a more important role but not being worth more as a human. This can only be found in Christian teachings

From that time the new laws made it illegal, for a master to have a better bed, food, clothes, etc. than the servant.
