Yeah it wasn’t her fault, the parents needed to feed her so much better. She was having a pizza do then washed her medicine down with coke! I feel horrible for the poor girl (and the parents, but they weren’t helping her there)

She died 2 years later, her parents divorced the same year and her mother died in 2014. So heartbreaking

I feel terrible for her. She was so happy about her life, and didn't become 11 yet. It's honestly just so unfortunate as almost every single child with a rare condition doesn't make it past childhood. Not only that, but you saw how much her father cared for her. He quit being an illustrator to take care of his child. Now he has nothing, as his other daughter, Molly Pepin, moved onto the afterlife, his wife divorced him, then passed away. You gotta feel bad for the husband.

I cant imagine the pain of the father because I believe he was really close to his father specially when he was going on a walk with her now he's walking alone. I can't.

I love how supportive and caring her parents have been throughout everything despite all the negative things that could of happened. Her dad gave up what he loved just to be a full time career for his daughter, and her mum doing everything she can to ensure the wellbeing of her daughter. I cried way too much and I'm so proud of her and all the struggles she has been through. She is such a bright and cheerful child, she always sees the bright side of life. I feel so inspired by this story and am so grateful for the life I have. she was so brave And she had such a positive attitude, and she is only 8. God bless y'all 🥺🥰🥰😇💗💕💖👑

I watch this, and I admire this little girl, 1. living past everyone's expectations, 2. she's a mermaid, and I've always loved the idea of being a mermaid, although she is missing a few vital needed organs to live fully as a mermaid, she is as close as we can get to a true full mermaid, 3. She power throws everyone to stay happy, 4. She is a bright soul.

She yelled in the pool, “I’ve never tried that before!!” “I’m a motorboat!” She’s the brightest child I’ve ever seen with something like that. She’s the complete opposite of me. She’s so bright and open about feelings and she seems like she’s just not ready to give up yet. Or...she was....

I'm so impressed with her parents. They love her so perfectly and they all have such a wonderful connection. I've never been so sure that someone was supposed to be on the planet as I am with her. She has made my week so much better.

I remember watching this years ago. She was extremely intelligent, so positive and precious! May her sweet soul rip along with her angel of a mother. I know her hospital family misses her, she was a gem.

Sadly, Shiloh Pepin passed away at the age of 10 in 2009. She would’ve been turning 21 this year. Rest in peace, Shiloh

I think she embodied a mermaid not just physically, but as a person. Mystical, beautiful, kind, something everyone can see. She is in heaven, swimming with other kids, laughing, playing with her mother, no pain. The world will miss her I never even met her and yet I’m crying talking about her

I wonder if the fact that she was so mature and smart at 8 years old had anything to do with her disorder

It was probably that she was faced with such a hard thing so young and that she talks with her parents all the time. I’m an only child and got that comment my entire life but I mostly talked to adults growing up who just talked to me like anyone else.

i remember watching this with my mom while she was pregnant and gave birth to my little brother back in 2009, can't believe its been over 10 years. Rest in peace angel, i know she's swimming and chasing after her favorite butterflies 💌

Let me answer you questions. Leslie Ann pepin died (the mom) with the rest of her family members because of a shooting at there house. Her sister and her other daughter and her husband have died. There graves are right next to each other. I feel bad for the family . First the mermaid girl died at 2009 or 2010 and shortly after at 2014 the rest of the family died. I really think that family is cursed

When she was so happy for the tiniest things in her life I learned that I should not complain about being tired or not trying to do something because this little girl doesn’t complain one bit no matter what.

"No more junk food?!" Oof, I get you, girl.

In heaven she can see all the butterflies she wants 🦋 ❤️😭 When she said “I’m sorry” for gaining a little weight I started crying 😭

God made us and we were born how we were born. God only helps us if we give our full faith for him and trust him, and some times- some rare times- He can perform miracles. You can't fat shame a child because they are not the ones in the position deciding how much calories they eat. But I do have some questions to the parents, it's unhealthy to overfeed your child. I guess they feel guilty and want food to compensate it but I guess she would live longer without obesity.

@@abigailc9322 in the clip her parents asked her what she wants for lunch and she said "MY pizza", so she used to eating junk food. And also I was shocked when her father was giving her medicine with Coke..you don't do that, only water is acceptable.

She must have been on steroids because of the organ transplant which makes you gain weight and feel hungry, then she had difficulties moving too. But the parents definitely could have thought more about what to feed her but they said too she had difficulties gaining weight before so perhaps they just let her eat what she wanted to make her grow, it can be very difficult to change eating habits.
