@@netweed09 You’re getting way too worked up over a classic car, man. Take a chill pill.
Around 1985-85, I saw a Miura for sale in a San Antonio used car lot (I thought is was a Pantera). I stopped in and asked how much they wanted for it... $13,000. When asked if I could test drive it, the salesman said "sure". He brought out the key, and I noticed it had a hinge at the head. It turned out that (at least in this one) the ignition switch was close to other dashboard parts and a normal length key would not have fit. I still remember the sound of the engine (which started instantly) behind me. I backed the car out of it's parking space, shifted into first, and then another salesman came running out to say they had taken a deposit on the car and we couldn't drive. So I pulled it back into it's space and shut it off. I got to drive a bright yellow Miura about a total of 30 feet!
Doug's excitement about this car is so obvious in the video, but when he got back from borrowing it to shoot this video, he experienced an equal part something else that I often feel after driving this car: relief. Every drive in this car is an EVENT. Even when it doesn't catch on fire. My dad bought this car in 1974 and it was after its third fire in the late 70s that he took it off the road (well actually it took itself off the road). I was born in the late 80s and the car was never roadworthy during my life until I was 31 years old. As a child, it was deeply disappointing (and not credible) to tell your schoolmates that you had a Lamborghini but it was a paperweight Lamborghini. I'm delighted that it's back on the road now and getting shared with enthusiasts like Doug or Jason Cammisa, but also all of the strangers who approach me when I'm out in it and simply thank me for driving my own car. I've never owned anything that has had that effect on people before. Seeing it on the road is quite literally a dream come true for me.

@@Richie944 So if you lived in 1960's or 1970's you also wouldn't if cars like this catches fire? Miura was a modern car back in the 60's/70's. All older cars were modern when they came out.
My grandfather had one in red. The story on how he became a Miura owners was interesting. He was in Italy on vacation and walked into an Alfa Romero dealership. The Alfa 1750 caught his eye and he wanted to buy one on the spot. Little back ground on my grandfather. He owned several heavy diesel service centers in southern Florida and NYC. He also had a franchise license to sell Peterbilt trucks. Anyways, he purchased the Alfa 1750 and while waiting to finalize the deal, the owner of the Alfa Romero dealership asked my grandfather what he did for a living. My grandfather told him the owner of the Alfa dealership what he did for a living and the owner of the dealership told my grandfather that he loved American trucks and wanted a long nose ring. My grandfather told him that he could arrange a deal and the owner stated that he wanted it for his farm. My grandfather told him that he had a slightly used 1968 Peterbilt 359 and that he would part with it for 28k. The owner of the dealer then said I have a car that I don’t fit into very well, but is beautiful and I will trade you the Alfa 1750 and a Miura for the long nose 359. To make a long story short, the deal was made and my grandfather came home with a 1968 Miura and an Alfa 1750. My father inherited both cars and the business when my grandfather passed and still owns both cars.

Exactly. As much as I understand the need/push for EVs, and there's some great ones out there, you will never again get that engine rumble on cold start, the smell of gasoline, the vibration through the shifter, the linear winding up of a naturally aspirated engine. I'm blessed to have a 2019 Bullitt as a daily and the cold starts, exhaust and rowing my own gears is what makes me love my commute. There will be time when I will get an EV or PHEV either due to costs or regulations, but for the time being, my passion is fueled by my V8.

Doug sounds like he is about to cry with happiness… such a lovable guy
This car instantly makes me think of Panama, with Eddie Van Halen’s Miura revving. One of the most beautiful cars of all time!

@@1969EType really??? They are lyrics from Van Halen's song "PANAMA" where in one part you can hear the guitar player's Miura, revving.. i dint bother putting his name because its clear you dont know the band
The smile while driving it or driving something special for you..., every car enthusiast know the feeling. It's Just wonderful.
dougs excitement and enthusiasm is infectious in this vid. Im so happy for him... if anyone deserves to drive a Miura its him.
The Miura is such an iconic car with so much coverage, I didn’t expect Doug’s review would be very interesting. Except, Doug, your enthusiasm tells the story. The Miura was exciting when launched, it’s more exciting now, and your nervous joy while driving tells the essence of the Mirua.

(''please don't explode please don't explode please don't explooode!1'') Eeeh, I'll pass on that 'driving experience' thanksy very muchy! It's sad that stuff like this are remembered as 'Icons' just because of misty-eyed nostalgia and the tricks the emotion plays on the human brain - to think people think this is a more iconic car than the Huracan relatively; very sad being honest. Ok, it sounds Phenomenal, I admit and that's very important- but there's more to a car.
Jason Camissa is really one of the best automotive journalist, he obviously loves what he does but he is also so knowledgable and has a great personality.

I really LOVED how Jason Camissa introduced the Miura, he was such great when he presented the Lamborghini's approach to fires and failures... :D

I believe this Miura belongs to his friend Derek Tam "Hyphen" Scott, from The Carmudgeon Show
I love your enthusiasm for cars and even the smallest details
When you are so excited, your voice is cracking... Now that is excitement!!! Love the pedal assembly...
First time I saw one of these was as a kid, waiting at a bus stop on the Tyne bridge in Newcastle England, when the Miura went blasting past me, circa 71 or 72. The driver had long blond shaggy hair. Turns out it was Rod Stewart who was performing in concert in Newcastle at the time. I will never forget that vision or noise as long as I live (the car not Rod Stewart!). Great video Doug, I totally get your enthusiasm for this iconic car. Absolute dream come true I bet.... thank you.

I saw one in London in 1969/70. Compared to the cars around at the time it was as if a spaceship had landed.

this was adorable. oh my goodness. i’ve NEVER seen Doug so happy in a video before. good on you, Doug! i’m glad you were finally able to mark this one off your bucket list. wonderful video!
Excellent review! Thanks for doing this content
I love how happy you are in this video! Sick car
One of the most enthusiastic "This" I have ever heard! 😁
imagine being a passer-by and seeing a t-shirted man sitting on the curb with an iphone on a stand crying his eyes out because he finally gets to film what you consider to just be "an old sports car, maybe one of those ferraris"
This is really special. Great reviews.
Love the genuine enthusiasm...like a kid on Christmas eve
In regards to supercars, Clarkson said it best. This is genesis. This is where it all began. The original super/hypercar. Doug's excitement is just amazing to watch as well. I used to transport exotics back in the early 2000s. I never even saw one of these, let alone driven one, and I did drive a McLaren F1 LM (100ft). I have driven a Ferrari 330 and a 365 GTB/4 Daytona. I have even driven a 300SL Gullwing, but never, ever saw one of these. If I had, I think I would have just died right there on the spot. This is, and always will be a bucket list drive for me. Thanks Doug, you are legend. grammatical errors fixed

Really Fantastic detailed presentation. Also tasteful humour throughout ... Bravo!

Whew! TAKE A BREATH DOUG!! Best car review ever! I can feel the excitement with Doug, and I even got chills when he said "im on the 101 in a Miura!" Really!?!? Who gets to say that! Doug DeMuro does. Very cool, thanks Doug!
I like it when Doug geeks out & gets all excited. Very cool
