What would happen if, let's say glucose, is abundant? Would that have an influence on the lac operon?

Yes! It would. The lac operon would experience glucose repression. Glucose is preferred over lactose, so if glucose is present, the lac operon will not be expressed, so the cell can focus on the metabolism of glucose instead of lactose.
