The company actually had a different concept planned for them and they just went "nope" and chose the title track themselves, with doyeon planning the whole concept. She planned the teasers herself and pitched the MV concept to the director. Which only makes the fact that she injured herself right before the comeback the more heartbreaking. Also, you have to check out the stage for their b-side "Who am I" today on The Show, on patreon. Absolutely godly.

who am i is probably the concept fantagio is going for, especially after cool. who am i is a much more bolder concept as a follow up to to cool, and the choreo for who am i is just top-notch. altho i like that b-side and it's choreo, i had to agree with him that siesta showcases more of weme's vocals and it's more of their "sound"

I feel like Weki Meki just suffers from bad timing more than anything. Their songs are pretty diverse but none of them are bad, any of them deserved a #1 but they almost always come out at the time of a bigger group. I just want them to succeed!

what i really love about this song is the emotion-driven feel to it. it makes the listeners in a some type of way where in they're on the verge of sadness, yet euphoric at the same time and i think it has something to do with how the girls deliver the lyrics and their vocals. anyw, i really hope that this would blew up coz those girls and this song really deserves a win.

Siesta is an s tier song for a K-pop group. Weki Meki never disappoints. At first, I thought the MV was a bit lacking, but knowing the facts on it and the actual song suits is so well. Give me a lot of western summer dance EDM type of MV vibes. Loved it, and it's a breath of fresh air. I hope they will finally break through. Because IMO, WeMe and Fromis are one of the k-pop gg groups with the most consistent sound and actually good discography. I never had one song from both groups that I didn't like, and they aren't even my ults.

I like the fact that Weki Meki has "never found their sound." More kpop groups need that diversity. I'm also a casual listener, so the more diverse their title tracks are, the more people they can pull in depending on independent taste. If one song isn't for you, maybe another one is.

yess, i'm glad to see reaction that appreciate the song as it deserved, whenever i see comments talking bout how this song is just basic or not as good as their previous song...which i checked out and sparing out my opinion...i'd say as an old/fossil listener of kpop, this song gives me emotions of what it's like to enjoy n feel along with what you're listening to instead of the usual kpop songs nowadays that are more meant to impress you and tell you that 'hey look at us, we're oh so cool n so different n edgy n complex n whatnot' which..after awhile don't give me any effect anymore...but emotions and joy are something that doesn't expire or get stale, for me at least. yknow, it reminds me of kpop in those days and evenmoreso, fans in those days who loved and were proud of kpop for not trying to match American pop and were very different even if it meant cutesy, bright, bubblegum or whatnot(unlike now where that's the goal lol). i remember the days when that's the definition of 'different' by kpop fans. perhaps it was too long ago before the shift began n for the past years it has become 180degrees different meaning n now the past is more often than not seen as just cheesy. haa. not to say that this song sounded like older kpop exactly, it has its modern elements i guess but it has the feel/heart that you don't get everyday from the biggest trendiest tracks of recent kpop. and i very much appreciate that as a casual listener who randomly check out the song.

I personally for myself can say that this song is very relaxing and very calming and I enjoyed it however, I do not think it’s their best title track song in my opinion I still appreciate the song but it’s not their best in my eyes and my taste. I will say that listening to all their other songs on the album is beautiful and it put me on a nice little emotional roller coaster that I quite enjoyed a lot and I feel like I needed to hear something on the softer side. I definitely appreciate the fact that we were given the opportunity to have a softer Music video as well as light and elegant songs to go along with their title track it definitely gives me a fresh air in tire images breathe out from any other group that’s giving me the hard Poppin music so it’s very nice to know that a group that I enjoyed decided to take a different route and give me the opportunity to actually breathe and just feel relaxed and calm. But like I stated it’s a beautiful song it’s very fresh very relaxing takes you want to emotional journey if you listen to all their songs on the album but I don’t think it’s their best title track come back personally for me.

I think you might love this so much since one of your main critiques for LOCKDOWN was the heavy rap focus. DO 4 ME has a lot of vocals so i think you'll enjoy it a lot

this song means a lot to me as it came out at a time when i was in a time of anxiety and fear, but the day this song came out it was like a warm and comforting hug from a friend telling me that everything was going to be fine 💙 weki meki managed to deliver a song that at the same time sounds emotional and welcoming, it is also bright and happy and together with the lyrics that have a very beautiful and positive message made this comeback even more special.

actually you got it when you said this song can be used in a lot of condition. the main point was like waking up from a nap(rest in any kind of form) so you got a brand new energy to continue whatever you're doing. and just like you said, this song is more focus on their vocals. yoojung even said that this was their hardest song in term of vocal. that's why their choreo wasn't as intense as their usual ones. btw if you like this vibe, you should check their b side "luminous". it's an amazing song too. well this is their best album in my opinion, because all the song sounds so amazing.

the individual mood films of the members gives alot of insights about this comeback as well you could just check it out on your own time if you want! nothing that much but their asmr-ish voices were so pleasing it fits the theme of Siesta much likely

What i absolutely loved about the mc was the down to earth vibe. Like the place where they performed could literally be in my park a few streets away. Everything felt so “humble” but not cheap at all or something like that. Especially with the meaning combined it just feels really personal and close to the listener. While 99% of mv in the moment have crazy high production, green screen here, expensive and equipment there this really sticks out positively. Not criticizing any of these group who have these insane visuals in their mv, i love them but it can be a lot at times. So siesta kind of feels kind of nostalgic in a way? Something you even forget that you loved. Great comeback.

I thought the song was too basic for weki meki halfway but gradually as the song finished I caught myself singing along 😭. It went from them being alone in their own space to being all together. It stuck a chord with me almost made me cry lol they looked so happy.

So, where do I even begin?!? Oh boy, this is going to be such a long comment, sorry in advance guys... Okay, let's start with the fact that I actually don't listen to Weki Meki. It may be that I've heard a title track here or there, since I'm an avid kpop listener and love discovering new songs and groups, so I check out a lot of recommendations. But their music never really grabbed me apparently, because only after COOL they stuck in my memory as a group to look out for in the future (which btw I'm SO glad I did). It could have to do with the fact, PD pointed it out too, that they had no distinct sound to recognise them. Which makes this comeback even more fascinating to me, because not only does it fit their voices so well, like it highlights the members and their talent in the best way, I have found that it is super niche to them too! You cannot imagine how many girl group songs I've heard these past days, trying to find something that captures the same emotions that this song awakens in me! I found little to nothing! I am ecstatic!!! Because this means there is finally an element to their sound which is characteristic to only them. Super important fact if you want to stand out in the sea of releases these days. So in my attempt to create a playlist off of Siesta, other songs that I've found to kiiiinda express the same mood and sound are IZ*ONE's Panorama and definitely Weeekly's 7days Tension. Also Itzy's Surf and Twice's Alcohol-free to some extent. Some more were somewhat close, but not really what I was looking for. If anybody wants to help me expand the list, I gladly accept any suggestions, since I for one, am not so familiar with the discography of older groups for example. I'm talking strictly female artists for this one though. I've binge listened to a lot of gg who could fit the sound, like summer releases of Red Velvet or GFRIEND, also WJSN and Oh My Girl and a bunch of other gg, but surprisingly, none had what I was looking for. But I have still some more that I want to check out anyway like Lovelyz or Apink. To help explain how this song made me feel, even though we are in the middle of fall already, it made me think of a fun getaway weekend, going out with your girls for a cocktail at the beach kinda vibe. I'm thinking lighthearted laughter, party vibes, like a rave near the ocean. It's a song that is cute, but goes hard for no reason; soft, but fast paced. But also something that captures the melancholy of a fading sunset and the end of summer or the memory of it, a bit of nostalgia even. And like PD, said, this sounds mature, without being necessarily a mature concept. It could have easily been a full on summer song, yet it isn't, to me at least, and it's exactly because of this very light, almost imperceptible nostalgic note, which makes it is more so an after-summer song, in the veins of After We Ride or Tamed-Dashed - a little bit pop-ier than the former and less edm heavy than the latter. Btw if you think about it, we really got the perfect releases at the perfect time this year: Oh My Girl opened up the summer with Dun Dun Dance, it was like finally getting up to party again after being locked up for so long. Then Brave Girls, who brought us all to the beach with Chi Mat Ba Ram, Twice with Alcohol-free, obviously inviting us for a quick drink and now Weki Meki with Siesta, going back for a nap, almost like we're finally officially closing the summer season! The conclusion: I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! Perfect timing, as I said! Since Fantagio took ages for them to come back, I didn't really know what to expect, sound wise. COOL was a game changer, it really was, it showed how well they could pull off darker concepts, but it also made me question if they were going to stick to that newer sound or if they would go back to cute or girl crush concepts. The possibilities were endless at that point. I'm glad to see them in a brighter concept again, cause this is awesome, it really suits them so well, and even though Fantagio kept us on hold, it was worth the wait. Glad to see the girls back, and now if you excuse me, I have to keep streaming this song because I am honestly obsessed! To whoever stuck around till the end, thank you for reading, have a great day :)

I've definitely been missing this sound in K-pop since IZ*ONE disbanded - the only other song I can think of that fits this vibe for me might be Lightsum's VIVACE from a bit ago. I'm happy to hear more Kpop from this soundscape though and I hope that Weme continue down this path for their next release!
