The Krays: Who Really Were The East End Legends? | Rise & Fall Of The Kray Twins

The story of Reggie and Ronnie Kray is an infamous part of London history. Smartly dressed and notoriously violent, the Kray twins belonged to a different era of organised crime. Rubbing shoulders with the stars and even giving interviews, it's easy to forget that they were repsonsible for almost 2 decades of organised crime in London's east end.
Welcome to The World History Channel. With new uploads every week, we break down the biggest stories that have shaped human history. From the dawn of ancient civilisations up to the modern age, these are the stories from our past that matter the most.

This is a true story the Krays sent their collectors going from shop to shop and one shop keeper who was Ukrainian pretending to not understand Cockney language. They were four of them two of them started to throw things around in the shop breaking objects of value, the Ukrainian rushed to a bin holding broom handles broke it half and started using them using oriental fighting skills knocked out two of them out cold and the other two ran away. The shop keeper phoned for the Police they arrived and the Ukrainian showed his MI6 card to the Police, they said no problems took the two into a Paddy wagon to cut the story this was a Special trained by the SAS and ex SOE of the dark arts and the Krays never went to that shop ever again .

one reason why they were not released early was because the authorities knew their ‘businesses’ continued while they were in prison. I heard it evolved from the protection money racketeering. inmates wanted to be part of their ‘gang’. Also criminals who wanted to do business in london would pay good money for a prison meeting and twins would hook them up and get a commission from deals. they also had ‘foot soldiers’ outside affiliated to them also they were always in the press, with books and films out, celebrity figures and people kept claiming to be connected with them when they were not. if they had kept a low profile they would have been let out earlier

The reality is very different then the myth. They had close working relationship with corrupt elements in the Police who protected them. They preyed on small business and bookmakers, if they never paid up they got windows broken or worse. Knowing they were protected. They also procured young males for members of the house of lords, who made sure they never got their collar felt, but they got arrogant to the point they had to be brought down. People who really knew them including their enforcers didn't have a good word to say about them.thats the reality. Freddie Foreman stated they were so dangerously unstable to be around, especially Ronnie, they would have been taken out.

If they didnt get jailed they would have eventually sold drugs. Becouse if another team did and knew all about the drugs market from prices to distributers and retailers and the right sources they would earn millions and build bigger teams to take over. A couldnt see the krays allowing that. Plus guys would take them out as the money involved is alot. More in a year than they had made all there days. If done right. But its a dog eat dog game as big and easy money makes sure of that.
