Is This The Site Of The First Ancient Roman Fort In Britain? | Time Team
In 43 AD, the Romans invaded Britain and they landed in Kent. Nobody knows what happened immediately after they arrived though, because no Roman fort has been discovered in this part of South East England. Time Team are on a mission to find the missing link. Local archaeologist Paul Wilkinson believes he has already found a military ditch, which would surround such a fort. It's a prime site, right next to Watling Street. However geophysics cannot find any evidence for a ditch. So begins one of Time Team's most frustrating digs ever.

Looks like the site has been previously broken up, leaving holes in the structures. The trench is proof of defensive works. It may be a camp rather than a full fort as they would have moved forward and might not need full improvement at the beach head. In WWII we didn't fort up on the French coast after landing but pushed on with harbor improvements rather than full forting up.
❤ leave it to Stewart

Drama? It is a tv show. But academically it probably works like a highly competent team that can get gather enough data to encourage future development, study, or protection for the sites they visit. All while not tying the professionals up for more than a long weekend.
😈 it's across the road bwhahaha. It's still likely in the area. Too much going on for nothing of defense being built at invasion.
❤❤ I want to know if the lovely little baby is beautiful Careza's????
