The KLF at Trancentral studio (1989)

Музыка

Historical footage of The KLF hitting their Trancentral studio and recording a follow-up to their No. 1 single "Doctorin' The Tardis". They work on a track called "Leave This Party" which would be soon released as "Kylie Said To Jason". However, the release failed to enter the Top 100 chart.

Even now the music they produced still gives me goosebumps they were so different from anything I’d ever seen before I was 16 in 1990 And KLF truly genius

Great clip! It's an intriguing contradiction that on one hand they are masters of cultivating myth and mystique around what they do, whilst being very candid and explicit in detailing their actual music-making and business processes (eg. The Manual and the way they talk in this clip about ripping off what's currently popular).

Hello Clive... I am late to the party but I was a C64 with Pro-16 man myself, all bought from a guy who needed a quick fix... but you were the daddy!!! My floppy became corrupted so I wrote to Steinberg in German from a phrase book and they sent me a new disk free of charge along with a letter saying they could not believe I was still using such an old programme. This was in 1992, I fired it up in 2020 and it still works!! Best wishes 🏆🎹🇬🇧

Sadly long gone, the original 1968 rotted away and the remains were put into a second one, then it was banger raced. The third car was a 1971 (it’s on the driveway in the video) and that since been scrapped. 😢

The original car (a '68 Ford Galaxie) got banger raced at Swaffham Raceway in 1991 - it was no longer roadworthy after its appearance in the KLF's film The White Room and its last appearance was in the video to 3AM Eternal, by which stage it was completely rotten. It sat rusting away for a few months outside Trancentral, then someone bought it and banger raced it. There are at least two replicas of it on the road in the UK today. The car that got pushed off the cliff at Cape Wrath was a Nissan Bluebird which had been spray-painted by the band. The theory that there were two of them came about cos the band also briefly owned a police-liveried Ford LTD, a slightly larger American car, which later was sold to the group Jesus Jones. The footage of the KLF defacing the replica with white paint is an apparent homage to the scene in The White Room where they cover their original Ford in whitewash - and they didn't ask the owner before they did it!
